  1. I was looking at that Caddy too, since I've also got a built non-gluebomb '61 Fleetwood - but I doubt I'd get anywhere near that for it since the chrome is a bit duller and one A-pillar is a little bent (and I don't have the box, which for some is a big deal). Also I do believe that seller has gained a considerable following of customers who tune in to his auctions every Saturday evening.
  2. Forgot to mention that the screenplay was released as a paperback book; it contained another two scenes between Toad and Debbie that weren't in the film, and the dialogue in the junkyard scene with John and Carol ran much longer. I could post those parts here if you're interested...
  3. For inserting dynamite?
  4. And a '57 Buick grille, and 15" wheels with '56 Mercury wheelcovers.
  5. How about cutting off just the leading edge of whichever roof is better (say P/L?) and replacing just that part of the new Satellite roof?
  6. I got a little money for my birthday and finally bit the bullet for this: 1/72 scale Special Hobby Douglas B-18. Mostly forgotten late '30s bomber whose main combat experience was getting shot up on the ground at Pearl Harbor and the Philippines; but I always liked the pre-WWII types. I waited 35 years for a company to produce an injection-molded kit, but the darn things were always listed at around $50-$60 or more. Finally found one with a Buy it Now price of $30 (cheapest I've seen in two years of watching them) and it's on its way to my little hangar. I don't build many planes anymore but this is an exception.
  7. Not my personal cup of tea, but how about headlight appliques? Like half moons, tri-bars, or the ones that are a sort of cross between the two? Maybe some translucent red decals with varying thicknesses of chrome lines overlaid across them for making custom taillights (like the '65 Mustang full-width lights mentioned on another thread)? And when you get back to stock stuff, the two-seat T-birds have engine-turned dash trim...
  8. It's already been done - twice. For its 1979 re-release, tied in with the coming of More American Graffiti, the month of Milner's fate at the end was changed from June to December; plus three scenes that had been cut were added back in: Toad and the used car dealer with the Corvettes, Steve telling his former teacher to "go kiss a duck", and Falfa singing "Some Enchanted Evening" to Laurie. Much later, for the DVD release, a more vivid red-clouded sunset was digitally added to the opening shot.
  9. ^^^ Any VW experts here know what year (or range of years) this kit represents? And was this based on the original 1959 kit? (I know that kit was 1/25, but they seem to share the same multi-piece body setup.)
  10. Grabbed the Revell Hemi Dart for $6.99 at Michaels an hour ago (see my posting on the Michaels thread for the other sale items I noted). Now trying to decide whether to build it with the 440 and stuff the Hemi in my '65 Monaco, or vice versa...
  11. This was from the Glenview, IL store an hour ago: Revell Hemi Dart $6.99 (got one; there's one more left) Revell custom '49 Merc $14.99 (sure wish it was $6.99 here!) Monogram '85 Camaro $8.99 MPC '72 GTO $8.99 Monogram '64½ Mustang $8.99 Monogram Dodge Ram VTS $8.99 Revell '70 Challenger $11.99 Revell '57 Chevy 2-door Calif. Wheels 2-in-1 $12.99 2 Mustangs and 2 GTOs in stock, at least 1 each of the rest. Everything else regular price (including all the newer kits; Hobby Lobby had the Christine '58 Plymouth on sale but Michael's didn't).
  12. At least there's enough material there that you can whittle the base of the C-pillar into the correct shape. Ever built a '60 or '61 AMT Valiant? Now that's got mold lines - all over the rear end...
  13. What amazes me is how he can do all that gluing and painting without the paper getting warped!
  14. I built one of the '70s reissues long ago; top worked real well and the body wasn't too hard. Later did some ill-advised customizing and finally parted it out; the engine and a few other bits are in my '61 Ford wagon project. I also parted another reissue to build up a PMC Ranchero; the parts fit together remarkably well.
  15. The Modelhaus '58 Mercury could provide the roof, but you would have to modify the C-pillars a bit. Then you'd have to do the four-door modification...
  16. The first one ('59 Ford hardtop, $36-something) ended a couple hours ago - but it went higher than I wanted to go much earlier in the day and the last bid was a few hours before the end. P.S. What's with this quote problem? It's starting to look like an M.C. Escher drawing! You can't clean it up completely either.
  17. So, has anyone started working on an Edsel Roundup kitbash yet? Should be interesting to see how the front clip lines up.
  18. Stopped by the one in Mount Prospect today; no '57 Ford wagon yet. The guy I spoke to told me they get their deliveries in big bundles of different items on Friday, but don't expect stock to be out until Monday. So I got more paint instead.
  19. Got low bids in on a couple eBay finds - just to get the competition going, but hoping I catch them napping...
  20. With what gluebombs (and parts thereof) are starting to go for on eBay, I'm not in the least bit surprised. Models like those mentioned above are finding buyers in the $10-$20 range, plus shipping. All I can guess is, maybe there are a lot of folks who don't have a hobby store nearby?
  21. At least those '60 Falcons. Spotted on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1960-Ford-Falcon-Plastic-Model-car-cartoon-car-with-driver-Custom-LOOK-/261990188488?hash=item3cffd505c8
  22. Cool! I may bite the bullet on that one this week.
  23. OK, I gotta ask - with all the new tooling work, did they fix the '46 grille?
  24. As everyone no doubt is sick of hearing, I've got '61, '62, '64 and '65 projects going. Nice kits with a few quirks (hood contours on the early ones, front bumper/grille fit problems with the '64, window shape at the drip rail on '64 and '65, installing the '65's hood without breaking the pins off, etc.) You were lucky to find a '63 sedan; seems like '62 convertibles show up much more than anything else. There was one '61 two-door hardtop made, a factory prototype; it looked as you might imagine - same roof, longer door, that's it. As for an engine, maybe a Ford 427, 460 or SOHC to keep it in the family? Sonny Corleone probably would have had a slabside Continental if he'd lived long enough...
