  2. Most of the wires / hoses builders add around here are sourced from places like telephone wire, small diameter wire can be purchased at craft stores usually in the jewlery making isles. Small gauge solder is a favorite of mine, very flexible and takes paint easily. Fishing line works also Springs I just make from wrapping small diameter wire around drill bit, and cutting to desired length. I try to avoid buying the specialty stuff when possible , when most of the details can be made from common household items.. Under hood insulation - cut a shop towel..like those blue ones mechanics have rolls of and glue on w white glue or tacky glue.. Hope this helps get ya started

  5. That's why this forum is so wonderful, there's so many knowledgeable people willing to help us builders out at a seconds notice . Being able to explain the tweaks to make these trucks period correct is so important for realism, and depending on time period !

  8. Great build of a truck commonly seen in the towns highway depts. The small dump box looks perfect on this truck
  9. I actually found a 4000 series cab and hood cast by Dave carey, might work for the style I was looking at. We had Thomas buses around here
  10. I've been doing research on the IH school bus lately too ! Been searching for a hood from the 2575 IH tractor Gary wallace suggested using the IH motor from the farm tractor kit as a base for the DT-466T engine.

  20. just a teaser pic of the finished build, my Brockway 361 loosely based off the Tackaberry "Mountaineer" Living just over the hill from the plant, I knew eventually I d add one to my collection. The major details are on my WIP.. I wonder how many truckers saw this view behind them...
  21. Thanks everyone for the comments along this build, I enjoyed every minute of the project. I'm happy to mention its officially FINISHED !! Today was its first public display and everyone seemed to enjoy it. enough gab..enjoy the wrap up. I'll add it to under glass later after I can take better pics special thanks to superpeterbilt for sending me the resin emblems, they worked perfectly on the scratchbuilt mud flaps . see for yourself ! I attached em w plain old future. the weights are strips of bmf you can just see my trademark valve stems peeking thru on the rear tire Drone view .. that's it !
  22. A huge thank you to all those on the sping thaw crew for hosting another fantastic show !!!the weather was good this yr, vendors were wall to wall, and the models filled the tables...even overfilled !! Another great show !! See ya next yr at the new venue
