  1. The only suggestion I can offer is run the frame under hot water and it should allow you to carefully bend it back into shape..kinda like taffy. This was an issue I dealt with on another build . just go slow and check your work. I've heard using cold water after its done sets the shape..but never done it. hope it works out
  2. Very interesting to watch develop!! Walt Disney had a term that fits perfectly here..imagineering.
  3. Thanks everyone ! ! I'm dying to start this build , but one project is finishing up...and I get distracted easy..whoa squirrel !! lol Terry- I gotta get a few of the resin emblems from you if you still cast em..pm sent
  4. My entry for the 2017 Truck a thon is a Brockway 361 based off the " Mountaineer" . Living just over the hill from the actual assembly plant where these trucks were built, yet being too young to have seen them during the glory years.. I felt this was my way to bring another Husky back home. The exciting stories and appreciation for these trucks is so evident after wandering the seemingly endless street during the annual Brockway show held in Cortland NY. The build stats will be AITM resin 361 resin cab, Detroit 8V71 traded recently from Terry ( thanks a ton ) , and spoke wheels ! I'm using the Mack R685st for the chassis after a great friend was willing to trade Macks..Thanks Tom ! I'm also adding the 50 Ton Tulsa winch to the back. The color I Finally decided is yellow cab w black fenders..classic combo Heres the box of goodness I'll start this up in the next couple weeks !! hopefully everyone stops by !!
  5. Joe- here ya go ! The kit axles are too wide ( long) measuring from the axle body..disregard the axle ends that slide onto the rim..we'll chop them off next. This is a photo of the stock axles, note the exposed end near the spring attachment using a dremel or sanding stick remove about 1/ 8 off both ends of the axle. I measured the axle " case" after this and it was 2 inches. do both axles now whack a bit off the axle where wheels slide on, and that takes care of the width issue. I also shorten the spread of the springs. file this spring leaf on both ends even with one above it..now your spread is narrowed ! Other modelers pointed out these tips..I'm just paying it forward Hope this helps ! Jeff
  6. Very cool sounding project. glad ya heard about the axle issues, it's actually very simple to fix, or order the mack rear axle set from Gary and it's ready to go . I have a few pics of one fixed on a steel hood dm I'm working on, I'll be happy to post them so you can see where the tweaks need to be . Have fun!
  7. Very cool details so far!! keep at it

  13. I just dug thru my truck sheets and found the instructions that are included. it's a simple drawing showing where the parts go. the larger parts take place of the kit parts
  14. Just speechless on all your details on the engine !
  15. Thanks Jim ! I passed a K100 aerodyne today pulling a 53' great dane coming out of Auburn
  16. Looks fantastic ! Those spokes your designed fit perfectly on this truck too! very classy for a classic truck
  17. Very nice so far ! I am building an Autocar wrecker using the same kit ! The flat black acts like a pre shade works perfect under top coat
  18. I'm first !!! great choice of names for the truck a thon lol! What's on the bench ? well being just over the hill from Huskytown USA it's gonna be the Brockway 361 !! I can hear the screaming jimmy already
  19. Looks awesome so far!! if ya had plans to cast this, I can see guys here beating your door down for a copy !!
  20. If I'm not mistaken the 360 cab would be your preferred option for the 12v. it has the longer hood suitable for the huge engine. I thought they called them U360 . I've seen many builders use the current western star, and even a IH paystar for the donor chsssis. add your favorite fuel tanks and tool boxes and your on your way. I scored a dirt cheap glue bomb R model Mack on ebay a few months ago.and its being used for the 361 but your looking for current kits Jeff
  21. Great choice Kurt ! The 358 is one of my favorites , have you chosen the paint yet I just picked up the 361 ! Looks like we're bringing the Husky back to NY !!
