  1. An interesting variant of the Studebaker OHV V-8 built for an attempt on Indianapolis.
  2. The roof Pharaoh's Merc is chopped differently from the Revell kit, or from most chopped Merc. so to get the roofline right, you'd probably want get something with a stock roof, and chop it yourself.
  3. A Silver Ghost kit would be pretty nice, either in a civilian or military version.
  4. Yes, though probably not all at once.
  5. Oh, most of them have been kitted before in different scales, most back when the plastic kit industry was still trying to figure things out, which is why I made the qualifier of new kits. Are the odds of any of them happening low? Until recently, I would have said that the odds of any new brass era kits was effectively zero. If anyone on this forum had said "You know, we really need a decent 1/24 of an 1886 Benz Patent-Motorwagen", they would have been shouted down for uttering such foolishness. But ICM has released more 1/24 kits of veteran era cars in the last 5 years than we had seen in the previous 50, so clearly they think there is a market out there. What was previously unthinkable, is maybe not quite so unthinkable, so it seemed a fun, and possibly useful exercise to see what people would want. from that era. Maybe some common subject would come up, and maybe some people would find out that they aren't the only one who wants some crazy subject. Worst case scenario, we shoot the breeze about old cars.
  6. Yeah, a pretty sloppy list. One of them was even listed twice. Besides, it didn't have this one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capelis_XC-12 An airliner held together with screws instead of rivets, and they would all vibrate loose when the engines were running. If your "worst plane" list that doesn't include one that spontaneously disassembles in flight, you clearly haven't done your homework.
  7. I'd buy any of those. Another one I'd like to see, which is also pretty significant, is the 1913 Prince Henry Vauxhall. Airfix made a 1/32 kit, but something in 1/24 would be very nice.
  8. It's aliens, man. The truth is out there.
  9. Europe Models made a very nice 1/32 kit, but I could certainly go for a decent 1/24 kit. A 1895 Panhard also has the distinction of being the winner of the first official auto race.
  10. Yes, I know, this old topic, but with a little different spin. ICM has been doing some interesting kits from the dawn of the motor age, a genre that's been almost completely ignored up to now, and it's got me thinking about what other subjects from this era would be worth a new kit? Here's a few I'd like to see in 1/24 or 1/25: A Mercer Raceabout would make a nice companion piece to MPC's Stutz Bearcat kit This 1902 Olds was one of the first cars to produced in any kind of quantity. Ford's 999 racor is pretty significant. Though this 1905 Premier racer is pretty wild. Yes, that is the whole car. And since we're talking autmotive pioneers, how about some really early iron, like this 1770 Cugnot? What auto pioneer would you like to see immortalized in plastic? Obviously, this subject isn't to everyone's taste, and I respect that, and I'm sure you can find a topic on this forum that is more to your liking.
  11. All very true. The amount of positive response suggest that ICM might be on the right track with this one, and maybe it's actually worth thinking about what new kits we'd like to see from this era.
  12. Definitely looking forward to that one. Now if they'll just bring back their Jaguar saloon and Mercedes 280SL.
  13. Oh, I'm cheap, and I make no apologies for it. which is why it's significant that even at the price that was tossed out, which came from an actual seller, btw, I still want one.
  14. Some of the Tamiya 1/24 car kits. are in the three figure range up here. Now I'm not going to apologize for being careful with money, and a lot of people in the hobby simply don't have the luxury of throwing fistfuls of cash at it. I have my limit on what I'm willing to spend, and if you want me to go over it, you'd better have something I *really* want.
  15. Personally, I thought the AMG stuff was funny, and you would think that people are willing to shell out that kind of money for that kind of subject would be useful information to the kit manufacturers.
  16. I first found out about this car in an old issue of Popular Science.
  17. There was an item in Car Kit News & Reviews about an impending new release of a subject that you would think would make it especially newsworthy, regardless of whether you agreed or disagreed with the choice of subject. Granted, some the discussion got heated, like it often does, but instead of simply locking it, or scrubbing the offending comments, the entire thread seems to have been wiped, which seems odd. Who knew an 1886 Benz could be this controversial?
  18. THe Syder is a handsome little machine. So is the Sport Prinz it's based on.
  19. Looks like I'll save some money this time around.
  20. The real C8 hasn't even hit the streets yet, and didn't it take at least a year before we saw kits of the current Ford GT?
  21. A new tool E-Type has my attention, but the headlight covers in that photo look suspiciously like the Aurora version. I built the 1/12 scale Gullwing many years ago, and if it's going to be that same one, then yes, it is that bad.
  22. I let myself get sidetracked on this one, but here's a little more progress. The rear brake drums were hanging up on the rear fenders, so I carved those out. I was originally just going to sandwich the rear spring between the brakes. but the more I looked, the less I liked that idea, especially with how visible it was all going to be, so I scratched a set of mounts for the rear spring. The body is just about ready for paint, and I think I'm going to go with Model Master Stoplight Red over Humbrol Bronze with a white firewall. As for the chassis, right now I'm undecided between the body colour, gold, or white.
