Both of which should be warnings to anyone who equates "distinctive" with "good" But 1958 was not a great year for American styling. Harley Earl was retiring soon, and had clearly lost his touch, Ford's update of the '57 was not an improvement. Chrysler's '58 models looked good, mostly because they looked just like the '57s.

I think the Off-Topic Lounge should stay.....
Richard Bartrop replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I think it should stay. Like was said before, if you don't like it, don't read it. In fact, I think its most useful function is that it puts all the topics I don't want to read in one convenient location. -
Don't worry about who gets to be in the "real modeler" club. I've done some resin figure kits, but no resin car kit, and I have a resin plan kit I've yet to summon up the nerve to tackle, so I'll following along to see what you have to deal with. Another fun fact: Gordon Buehrig was working at Stutz at the time the Black Hawk Special was being built, and it was a big influence on the design of the Cord 810.

It already came with Windows, and the software I use that justifies having the computer doesn't come in a Linux version. so switching to Linux is a case of the cure being worse than the disease.

A site full of useful math tools for the scratchbuilder. https://planetcalc.com/ This one for figuring out the radius of a curve from the width of the segment and its height is just the thing if you're making a dropped axle or a leaf spring. https://planetcalc.com/1421/

I got a new computer, and I'm setting everything up. I try to import to import all my correspondence to Live Mail and.....where's Live Mail? Instead they have Windows Mail, which apparently has none of the useful features of Live Mail or Outlook., and apparently Live Mail is no longer supported. It's annoying enough when they change things around, especially in this Brave New World when sticking to the old version is no longer an option, but at least change it to something better. Thankfully, I knew someone who could set me up with a copy of Live Mail for this machine.

Unfortunately, the original was destroyed in the crash that killed Frank Lockhart, and most of it lost. The one that exists today is a replica.

Now I know where they went!

No more than all those plastic models of metal cars. But it would be an interesting challenge to simulate the look of abused fiberglass. -
Nicely done! Thanks for sharing!

I'm definitely following this one.

I like solid plastic. Hold close to a light bulb until it starts to soften, and you can bend it any way you want.

AutoQuiz 392 FINISHED
Richard Bartrop replied to matthijsgrit's topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
Same here. I figured somebody modified a Geo Metro/ Suzuki Swift, so I was hunting in the wrong continent. Congratulations, Ace. Also, it bad that when I see Xingu as the last post, my first thought is "Okay, why is this one being shut down?" -
To be fair, neither is an Aston Martin. I suppose you could argue that with the engine in the rear, you could stick lots of armament in the nose of the Pranha.

IF there are issues, then isn't better to find out before cranking out a run of kits that nobody wants to buy? Personally, nothing is leaping out at me, and it does pass the very important test of looking like a '68 Chevelle. Things like actual alternator brackets are a nice touch. I didn't think it would be a subject I'd be interested in, but I'm definitely warming up to it. They have every right to voice their opinions, and the rest of us are just as free to ignore them.

Ferrari's new single seater
Richard Bartrop replied to 935k3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think it would still look pretty sweet as a coupe. -

Isn't it? It's like a Pontiac Solstice grew up to be a supermodel.
