  1. ........as long as there are no clingons near Uranus, it's all good..........
  2. ok Bob.........tell him what he's won....................
  3. to me, I think it's best to display the model with the hood/doors whatever closed at first, when it looks like the judges are making the rounds, open everything up that opens. usually the judges will walk around looking at all the models before actual judging begins. I figure if all is closed etc. during the casual observation, they get a look at it in one 'light', then when the judging begins, they see it in another 'light' with everything open and showing. I could be completely wrong, but it seems to be what I have noticed at the shows I have been to.
  4. thanks again everyone, was a long process. I thought of chaining the cars down, but want to be able to move them around/remove them to transport to shows without spending a day to un-chain them. the PE wipers were a great thing [thanks again to JimB], as the lumber thick stock ones were not going to fly. a member here sent me instructions on how to lower the cab,[ I am embarrassed by the fact I can't recall who it was] but I didn't feel my skills were up to trying it yet, so most likely on the next one I will give it a try.
  5. I found some Tupperware type containers at Walmart, they have snap on lids and handles, I can fit 3 cars in each and lay micro-fiber towels between them and the ends of the container. also, the lids are molded in such a way that the bottom of another container fits onto the lid, so you can stack them. then drive slowly....lol.
  6. i'm not partial to one scale or another, if the subject matter is cool, scale be damned
  7. that looks terrific! paint and stripes set each other off very nice.
  8. sheesh Clayton, you gotta share your tips on how fast you build these killer looking trucks. takes me forever to get one built.
  9. thanks guys, making progress! and the wheels so far, gotta black wash them, but almost there, also got the body back in primer, so maybe by the weekend, it will be in color again.....
  10. Congrats on the win, well deserved.
  11. now that is cool! the build and the story are excellent.
  12. lol, ya, wasn't happy about it, but that spot was in such a place I couldn't hide it. oh well, I have done several repaints, so it's business as usual
  13. Well, the body is out of the pond...... I was all set to BMF it, but noticed a small dark orange/red spot in the middle of the roof......tried to wet sand it out, but no dice, I then tried to repaint just the roof, epic fail, so in the pond it went. I picked up a pack of the amt redline tires, and robbed the wheels and caps out of my ZL-1 camaro kit, so that's the wheels and tires sorted out. I got the other door panel bmf'd, dash decals on and floor flocked. Front suspension is on as is the firewall. I also alclad'd the exhaust and then cleared it. Hope to have some fresh pics of progress in the next few days. Thanks for looking.
  14. 91% alchohol from the local drug store should get it stripped. I am quite suprised the brake fluid didn't do the trick though. The upside of this, you should never have an issue with paint actually staying on something when you want it to......
  15. Awesome builds and combo, another fantastic project from your bench!
  16. Fantastic! Congrat's Clayton!
  17. I feel your pain, just had to put my 66 chevelle in the pond, ugh, all because I had an orange spot ( smaller than a pin head, but on pale yellow, it really stood out) on the roof, tried to paint the roof again and just made a mess, so, I will try again. We are in the same boat, lol.
  18. Excellent news! Congrat's on the house. Just remember, the biggest room is the livingroom, not the hobby room, lol.
  19. 58......, what do i win?
