looking good man! try some frog tape for delicate surfaces [it's yellow], someone on the board here suggested it, and I have used it with great results. I also use the Tamiya tape for thin lines, also works great.

love the truck, and as said, the shop is pretty cool too

the kit I have had the front of a dump box, but no other extra parts to make a dump box. odd....

i think all the rigs I have done so far have been one piece hood/fenders, so I just masked them. the few pick ups I have done with separate rear fenders, I have glued the box together, then masked and painted the fenders. I find I like to glue as much together as I can before paint, i'd rather mask it off, then ruin it with glue after the fact.

i will usually use my dehydrator when doing two tones to speed up dry time, i also use lacquer paints. i have done a few 'quick' two tones in a few hours with good results. if in no hurry, i'd say let it 'cure' for a few days to a week. if in a hurry, get a dehydrator, then you can be striping/painting the next day. i will usually put it in overnight at 105 degrees, turn it off when i leave for work, then mask/paint when i get home.

ironically, my wife introduced me to Hobby Lobby, she had gone there with my daughter for something, and picked me up a metal sign for the garage. well, after she told of the 'man type' stuff there, I had to check it out. we went back the next day and I discovered the 'model isle', the rest is, as they say, history also, make a note to peruse the doll house area, usually a lot of stuff there you can re-purpose for trucks and diorama type builds.

enamel or lacquer? got a food dehydrator? if so, throw it in that for a day at around 105 degrees, pull it out and mask away.

yup, trailers take up some room for sure. my pro star and 53ft reefer take up 3 feet of space! I just like the look of a truck and trailer combo, so I do a trailer for each truck I build. I will admit, I am running out of display room though.............

the one I frequent doesn't have the re-issued cali-hauler.....yet. I did pick up a 1/16 mustang kit last week though [that was one of the 'new' kits they had on the shelf] and ya. I love the coupon as well.

some today, some a week ago or so, might have posted some of these before, caught a sale at michaels craft store and got a bunch of kits for $10 each and some for $7 each.

all is right in the world again, JT is back in orange! JT, looking good man, coming together nice. I gotta ask, what did you use for the tanks/lower cab/drom roof? looks like chrome [and looks great], is that alclad, krylon chrome, or something else all together?
