    65 impala

thanks guys, I'm getting better at this BMF and yes, I used quite a bit of it on this build, can only imagine how much I'll use when I get to the rest of the impala's in the stash [60-64] Scott, the interior is testors one coat lacquer #1844 Icy Blue, over gray primer, I would imagine it'd lighten up some over white primer as the cap on the can looks to be a lighter shade.
  4. bought this kit forever ago, it was on a shelf in my cellar for who knows how long and was semi-chewed by a mouse. after my son found it and saw that part of it had been mouse food, I was going to use the body to practice painting on, well, don't ya know it, first paint job on it came out really good, so I decided to build it. I had placed a wanted ad in the wanted section here and Bowtienutz was good enough to send me the needed items to keep this a buildable kit [thanks again]. so, here is where I am at,
  5. that is super cool, great looking build.
  6. I find that after so many years away from building, when I see box art of a kit I built as a teen, I am drawn to that kit like a moth to flame, and must acquire it. or seeing one I remember as a kid, but couldn't have/afford, makes me want it [regardless of kit quality]. I hit model round up pretty regularly, and have a good wish list, it seems to go in stages, what I want 'now', what I want eventually, and what I would get when the time is right. oddly enough, most of what is on my list, are the kits I did as a youth, or what I couldn't afford as a youth. isn't a lot of 'new' kits that strike my fancy. seeing some box art takes me right back to a place in time, my mind recreates the smell/vision/feeling of when i built it the first time, hard to describe, but i know some of you have experienced the same thing.
  7. dale, it never ends, you are hooked [i did the same novice, un-informed, I don't have a problem approach ] just roll with it................easier to buy than build, but the satisfaction of a good build eases the pain of over buying [over buying is a myth, there is never enough, but I had to put it out there to keep things in context, lol]
  8. awesome build as usual JT! not nearly enough orange on it, but beautiful just the same now, where is the whole fleet picture we've all been waiting for?
  9. that is COOL!!!!!! will be needing part numbers and directions for this
  10. yes, color choice does seem to be the hardest part of the build sometimes, lol. Oscar, for what it's worth, on the two box trailers i have built so far, the 'tabs' on the floor part of the trailers don't fit the 'slots' in the trailer sides, so i cut them off and 'eyeball' the floor location when gluing together.
  11. dude............ sweet build, the bong is killin me...........hilarious.....
  12. looks great, I just love your fleet color choice, great color combo.
  13. those colors look awesome on the mack! looking good so far.
  14. looking good Justin! you have till april to finish this up fantastic so far, keep at it
  15. chevy trucks from 73-87 are 'mostly' the same, other than the front fenders have some subtle changes in the 'body line', front of the hood edge, head light set up, and interior fabric/seat patterns [from what I remember anyway]. 88 -98 again share a lot of the same stuff with minor changes, plus the difference between work truck and 'regular' truck [w/t has single headlamps, while others have composite set up] 99-2002. fairly the same [although I think the w/t had the 'old' body style, and the introduction of the avalanche] 2003, change in grille and headlights, [avalanche style] change again in 2007. I am probably not 100% accurate here, but trying to give a body style range off of sketchy memory..... hope it helps some.
  16. looks great so far, excellent work. ya, I know all about NY weather, lol, that's why I bought a paint booth
  17. that's beautiful, great looking truck, wow!
  18. great job, interior details are terrific.
  19. thanks for the kind words I wish I could get better pic's of it, that root beer color is really a nice color with gold flake in it. my cell phone pic's just don't do the color justice.
