  1. hey all, about to start on this, any hints, tips, suggestions on this kit? it'll be my third truck build, [which so far has been a snap w900 and a mack r model] any pitfalls or crazy stuff to look out for? thanks in advance, tom
  2. awesome job, that looks fantastic!
  3. just to update, got the correct trailer today, and he threw in a couple extra goodies with a note, how can ya beat that?
  4. not too bad, had a few warped parts [tow bar sections--not sure what else to call it], and sanding/filing the inside of the main chassis that the bar goes thru is a must [was for me anyway]. it was my second build and I managed it ok
  5. maybe, saw this weeks hobby lobby add, 25% off all model kits, maybe they are getting ready for a 'new' batch of plastic inventory.
  6. thanks all. JT in about 6 months when the sun comes back out around here, i'll do an outside pic, NY winters are looooong........
  7. hey all, I just wanted to post something about Jimnohio, I recently ordered a couple kits from him, they shipped fast, but I had one wrong item. I e-mailed, and within an hour I heard back from him. he explained what happened [honest mistake], and gave me the option of him sending what I ordered and upon receiving it, return the wrong item and cover my shipping cost, or sell me the wrong kit at a great price. I opted to buy the wrong one, and the correct one is in transit. I guess what I want to convey is, I had a small issue, and he offered two great options to correct the problem, and did it quick without trying to avoid the situation. that speaks volumes to me. will shop there again without hesitation.
  8. supplies- hobby lobby [last two trips out got a ton of paint on clearance] kits- hobby lobby, e-bay, model roundup, jimnohio, scale hobbyist, and lately at shows random equipment [dehydrator, paint booth] amazon.com
  9. doesn't seem likely, my 'local' one has had the same kits for what seems like forever.
  10. KJ, give it a few more days. I just did a body I painted about 10 years ago [one coat, no primer], took 2 weeks in the pond, but it's paint free now. I found if you can 'scratch' the paint some, it'll let the degreaser 'under' the paint and speed the process some.
  11. good mistake, that looks killer!
  12. I've only recently got back into building, and luckily Jim B is close to me location-wise and clued me into a few shows. until he told me, I really didn't know such a thing existed [ya, I don't get out much, lol], but since, have been to two shows to see what it's all about, and what kind of builds show up. I think eventually I will actually enter a build, as I saw some builds that were awesome, and some that were not, and after seeing what was entered, I feel at this point in my short career I fall in between stunning and why bother, lol. I also realize after doing the 1:1 car show thing, someone always has a nicer/better detailed/spot on/perfect stance build, so i'm used to the competition thing, but I also try to take something away from the experience, as previously posted, try to make yourself a better builder.
  13. wow, i'm an idiot saw this twice in person, and didn't realize it was 'you'. this looks just as good in person as it does in pic's, it's a beauty.
  14. that is one smooooth rig! stunning job!
  15. this thing is out of control, holy cow it's amazing!
  16. so, the wife made the mistake of letting me roam free around hobby lobby today found a lot of cool stuff, but thought i'd pass this on to you guys. I wandered down the doll house isle, and found picket fence. it's 5 'sections' in a pack for $2.47 this is how it looks out of the package, cut the points off, and you now have shipping pallets [or close anyway], I thought it was a cheap way to get 5 pallets
  17. got me some peeps today too! along with a bunch of other stuff.......
  18. thanks guys, seems like it took forever.....
  19. rolling sculpture comes to mind, wonderful build. that color combo just knocks it out of the park.
  20. pretty much done, need some odds and ends [and logs....slim pickens right now], but I think it's about done. on to the next adventure......
  21. that looks sweet! well done. sending you a pm, have said door handles.....
  22. i'm just back into building, and I use it to wind down from life. some days I come home and right to the bench I go and get tons done, other times, I sand one seam, then come here and a few other places, and then do something else. I find if I don't set a goal where plastic is concerned, it comes together by itself, as in, I sit down and putter and before I know it, something got accomplished. when it seems like work, let it set, it'll be there when you're ready.
  23. thanks all, got a few more bits tacked on tonight so far, in the home stretch as it were. this one has taken me forever it seems to get together, but i'm liking how it's turning out.
  24. hope you're well soon. did they use any resin parts on you?
