Well, the second lift was delivered today, so I mocked things up again. Built the bench out of the AMT kit and squeezed it in the shop, not a ton of progress, but having the second lift helped in figuring out what the space looks like.

Consider my mind blown...... been looking at this on and off for a long time, and I’m always impressed, be it the subject matter, the actual building of the subject matter, or the photography of the whole she-bang, it’s all stunning......, it motivates and depresses me at the same time , lol. Fantastic work and photography!

Thanks guys, you all are keeping me motivated? did some work tonight, got the rear wall and right side wall cut to finished height, sectioned off the office and restrooms, then put some junk in it to see how we were looking. Also rummaged around in my 1:1 garage to find something to help make straight cuts on the sheet plastic, came up with a working situation. plan to cover the restroom area with sheet plastic and ‘store’ junk on top of it. have a bunch of small stuff to do yet, but now that the basic shell is somewhat situated, I can really start doing stuff. thanks for following along on my adventure....

That is a well built , well thought out model! Outstanding! having said that, if it were me, I’d add the red hockey stripe on the rear quarters to tie all the red together, but that’s me. awesome build! -

The cabs on these kits fit incredibly well together, slipping the interior in can be tight, but do able. Great kits. -
Those are some cool looking dioramas! Thanks for sharing that. got a few bits painted up, and picked up some plastruct from the hobby shop this weekend, need to start planning out the office area and back walls.
-
Roughly 32 inches long, 11 inches deep and 6 inches tall. Those measurements include the base. The garage itself could do with being a few inches deeper.
-
Wasn’t sure how I was going to do it at first, but once mocked up, and after careful measuring ( aka eyeballing it) , a cutting I went . Still needs smoothed/finished, but it’s still in the roughing it out stage.

The fujimi garage tools kit is pretty nice, no flash and everything is crisp. Started gluing up some of it, figured I’d build the smalls and see what fits in the space I’ll have available.
-
Ya, I’ll be picture hunting as this progresses. I did a bit of fooling around with this tonight, just roughing the two garage kits together, made some progress,
-
Thanks again everyone, I may try to get some more pictures in different light, it really is a gorgeous color.

So, I’ve been wanting to do a garage dio for quite some time, and have collected the bits to start one, not sure how or where it’s going to go, but, it’s gonna be ‘something’, lol. It’ll be slow going, most likely ‘filler’ work in between/during other builds, but I’m finally going to start on it. Here’s the pile I’m going to start with......

That is very cool! I am about to start starting a plan to build one of these myself.

That really did make me laugh out loud..... -
Thanks everyone, I really enjoyed building this one. as for inspiration, I had the color, had seen a few green builds of this kit in progress, and next thing I knew, it was green, haha.
-
Very nice build , and great color choices. i also want to say, that after reading the whole thread, this is the most adult/mature exchange I have ever seen online in regards to ones comments about a build, and ones response to said comments. This could have easily degenerated into a peeing match, but you both handled it rather beautifully, so in short, hats off to the build, and hats off to both of you for being adults about the whole thing.
-
Thanks, buy this kit, builds up great with no hassle at all.

Great kit, I see myself building more of these. Tamiya pearl green/black lower portion, white/black interior. Added plug wires/looms. Thanks for looking.

That’s pretty cool! Most kids want nothing to do with ‘what makes things tick’ in any fashion. I’m pretty sure you won’t have to worry about her in the future either, cause it sounds like she is willing to figure out just about anything, and that is priceless. best of luck to her in her future mechanical endeavors...., from another 30 year member of the dealership trenches.

What procedure/order do I use these products ?
tbill replied to rob1957's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Not to mention, ultimately, wet sanding and polishing helps the way light is refracted off the surface. Unsanded paint/clear has little peaks and valleys, sanded/polished surfaces are smooth , so the light reacts differently. In my experience, the final product ( the paint job) when wet sanded and polished , looks deeper. -
What’s everyone using for clear?
