I made some progress this morning with the rear door inside trim paneling and the door hinge in regards to painting and applying the clear coat. As for the hood? Things continue to plague the finishing of it. I primed it the day before last, painted it yesterday and the finish came out really clean. All was well until I tried to airbrush some dispensed clear and it spider webbed on me. Looks like it's back in the brake clean for a fourth time. Fifth try..............comin' up. I aint all that worried as I know I'll get it but man........resilient this thing is! Un....believable!

Hate to see the cracking decal but looking forward to the recovery. Looking good Dan.

Thanks Dan, Kevin and Rob. I hear you on the odd characteristics of super glue Kevin and you nailed it. I managed to get the battery adhered to the radiator core support this morning and get the hood primered...............again.

I hear what you're sayin' Rob. When I built my '56 F-100 it took me 10+ months and I put so much detail into that thing that I don't even handle it now. I took it to a show in SA and it didn't place at all. I think i placed too much emphasis on the details and looking back there were some obvious things I missed concerning the body and side step fit. Since then I placed it in the display cabinet and while I enjoy looking at it , it serves as a reminder of how far not to go. I still detail out an engine or so but as far as running all the brake lines to each wheel and getting everything underneath just so-so......never again.

Ok gang, I ended up trying to adhere the master cylinder assembly onto the firewall this morning and in the process of gluing it to the firewall I made contact between the two in the absolute wrong place on the firewall. I mean it STUCK and there wasn't any removing it without damage to the paint. I managed to break it free and wound up with a big 'ol primered spot on the firewall. Man I was pissed!!! Beyond pissed! I got up and walked away from the whole mess for about 20 minutes , came to my senses, returned to the bench and dispensed some Tamiya X-29 Black I had and shot it through the airbrush to cover up that God awful mess there on the firewall. My problem was that the vacuum hose was just a shade too long so trimmed it back and stared over again. This time I got it. If you look close you can see the outline of the boo-boo just to the right of the master cylinder but the good news is that the body L/H inner fender well will cover this up. I also got the primer coat on the hood for the fourth time! They say the third time is the charm but I guess we'll have to make an exception here with this thing. Today's progress:

LOL! I did use this trick and it seems to work better than any polishing cloth I've used so far. Still a few scratches but it wasn't anything like I was getting that's for dang sure.

Thanks Kevin. Awwww man you've got it in the bag brutha! Just take it on like it is it's own kit and you'll be fine. If you can pull of interiors like your doin' it wont be nothin' for you pal.

I woke this morning and hit the bench at about 3:45 a.m. and started by hitting the highlights with a little acrylic RLM 66 with a drop of white in it on the high points. I set that aside to dry and then hit it with a coat of Tamiya Clear and allowed that to dry. I followed that up with a wash of MIG Productions dark wash lightened some so as not to be overbearing with it. After that dried under a lamp for a while I brought out all the details and dry brushed some silver over the corners and over some of the more frequently used controls through out the side consoles. I then went over everything with a coat of MM flat clear with a drop of grey in it to give the sun faded look. I still have to install the instruments at the R/H front console and at the upright panel at the front of the L/H console and then it'll be down to the PE details, resin pieces like the control yoke and seat with belts and then the main instrument panel. There's alot more stuff I didn't mention but the list is just too dang long. You get the picture though(no pun intended).

This thing is mind blowing.......... Awesome work!

I here you on that. I've never really had a bad experience with using Aires except for my Stuka cockpit flooring. Other than that for me it's all about the proper planning and prep work. Managed to get the cockpit area black based this morning. Progress'll be slow on this one while I'm finishing up my '54 Chevy Sedan Delivery but I'm managing to do something with this every time I siddown at the bench.

I hear you there Kevin. I just haven't been able to locate a more convincing set at this point. I'm a little bit everywhere in the engine compartment right now. In the meantime while I'm searching for battery cable terminal ends I started working on something I could do something with. The master cylinder and brake lines:

Thanks Kevin. I would obtain another detail set for the cockpit but I already have two. lol . I cut the side panels from the resin mounting blocks today. This stuff is super thin so cutting it from them was a slow process to avoid breaking the dang things. Looks like everything is fitting here so far: and still mates up to the fuselage as good as I've ever seen from an Aires set
