Monogram 1970 Challenger T/A Rebuild-Under Glass 03-13
mustang1989 replied to mustang1989's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Lee and Tim! Go for it Tim! -
While I'm not a big Corvair fan, I do like this! Totally awesome build!!!
-
Good ol' W bodies! Looks good Wayne! I've worked on alot of these things and can easily say that interior looks very realistic. You're right about 'em not being fast too! Just too heavy a car for a 3400 or even a 3800 V-6 although those 3800's were some tough motors. The least GM could have done would have been to put one of those low baller superchargers on them like they did with the late 90's Pontiac GTP's or heavy Buicks like the Ultras, Park Avenues or Rivieras!!!

That's cool! The interior looks totally awesome!

What non-auto model did you get today?
mustang1989 replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Wished they'd do that in the aircraft world! Well..................I guess they do. I currently have an Eduard Royal Class 109G next up on my bench with a separate brassin engine kit/ set(this thing really is a kit of its own!) and there's plenty of parts to go round!! (Two of everything--sprues, PE, decals, etc.) -

Thanks Don! I'm hitting the BMF on the body again this morning covering all of the side marker lights and the passengers side door handle. I'm not gonna bother with pics yet until I've got some more progress to report. With any luck I'll have the exterior done soon. -
When do you open your kits?
mustang1989 replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If I'm going to go extensive with the build I buy two or sometimes three kits for a build and then, like Tom don't open the additional kits until I need them. I do the same thing with the plastic wrap. lol -

This looks to be a good build, especially from you! Never heard of the Smart Kit lineup. Is that like a kit with alot of extra goodies in it? -
This looks like it belongs in the shows already! You've got a knack for turning out consistent good finishes on your paint Tim. Lookin good buddy!

Yikes!!! Too low of an airspeed that close to the ground! Dude's lucky to have survived it! -
I enjoy watching the WIP's on these kits. I have one in my stash and have plans on building it after I watch several more of these builds and feel my building skills have improved to the point to where I can do one of these kits justice. Will be following along here.

Although I don't go ahead and start building something else, the caged tiger is always there................just itchin' to start another kit. Sometimes its everything I can do to not start another kit especially once I cross the 3-4 month marker with a build...and even more so when I cross the 9 month marker!!! Looks like you are off to a great start with this Charger here! I like that shade of blue. -
Heya Pat. First off the finish on your Mustang looks great man! Secondly I found out quick on my Challenger build that the black wash wasn't gonna work so don't feel like the lone ranger with that dark wash application. What worked in military modeling world didn't here for me on the automotive side. Hope you're able to remove it successfully bud. P.S. I love that shop scene!!!! Gives it that nice 1:1 "under construction" look.

That's a big question. Lets see..........I need to: 1. Finish the BMF and all side marker light painting and door handles 2. Refurbish the original grill and front valance. 3. Replace the tail light assy and rear valance 4. Install mirrors-I'll most likely pin these. 5. Paint the clear plastic window sparring to match the black headlining. I very much dislike the sparred window assy. It looks cheap and takes away from the interior finish. 6. BMF the molded in w/s wipers on the clear plastic window as well as BMF the inside rear view mirror glass, 7. Install the exhaust 8. Install the radiator 9. Install the engine/ xmsn assy and run the wires to the firewall.(to the ballast resistor and w/s wiper motor) 10. Install the voltage regulator to the firewall 11. Install all coolant hoses, i.e. radiator and heater hoses. 12. Install the master cylinder and route the brake lines into a recess in the frame leading into "never never" land. 13. Paint and install the hood to include BMF on the leading edge of the hood. 14.Install the horn and route the electrical ckts into the engine harness 15. Clean up and detail out the original fuel door and install 16. Stretch a section of sprue and use it for a radio antenna 17. Paint and install rear spoiler 18. and polish out some minor blemishes on the body. There...I think I covered it all. Dan:Thank you sir! I hope it turns out ok after all of this! lol JC , John and Carl:Thanks for the encouragement bud! Everybody: I applied the BMF to the drivers side trim/ drip rail. This side was not cooperating at all but I made it through it after about an hour. Still have the rear window trim, side marker light trim and door handles to go. -
Totally awesome! Don't know of any other way to describe it! Thanks for the tip on the pics as well Tim!
