  1. Jason your progress is looking awesome man! As far as the decal instructions from Monogram???? I completely get where you are coming from. What do you see wrong here: I don't know who's asleep at the wheel up there in the decal placement section for instruction sheets up there at the model plant but if they aint already fired, they need to be that's for sure! The R/H upper wing decal should read 24WE not 14MR!!! I had already laid the wrong decal on too thinking that was correct until I ended up with an extra 24WE decal !!! I was able to repair it but that was frustrating to say the least!
  2. Schuuuuweeeeeett! I'm still just trying to get over the 6 builds at one time concept. The word that comes to mind??................................................mind-blowing!
  3. Thanks Dan! I would like to say that persistence is probably a more accurate word than dedication! LOL Brodie: Thank you as well sir! I'm not perfectionist that's for sure. If I was that I'd never get this build finished! lol. I just know what I want is all. I have had this model built in my head for some time now so I know the direction I want to go with it. I appreciate the fact that I was an inspiration to you and looking forward to your successes with the BMF. Tom: Thank you for the encouragment along the way and that goes for Greg, Carl and Lee as well! Jim: Thanks for the "atta boy" and the tips. Just so you know I did strip the paint from the tips and apply the BMF straight to the plastic for the very reasons you gave already and is the reason for how smooth they turned out. I'd like to offer a word of thanks for your inspiration to me and the help along the way.
  4. Tommy: I know what you mean with the varying results. I've re-chromed these tips now three times. I think I've finally got it though. Tim: I took your tip a step further. I only have Testors paint thinner so I applied that and followed it up with a cotton swab soaked with ISO then applied the BMF. I posted pics below and although the end of the tips looks somewhat questionable in the photo (another macro shot to show flaws you can barely see without a vision aid ) I think I can touch it up and make it fly. Thanks for the tip buddy! John: Thank you sir!! Everybody: Here are todays shots after two more applications of this BMF before I got it all down. Again the flaws are evident only in macro form. I wear 1.25x glasses and can't see half of this stuff! I still need to darken the inside of the tips and touch up the hanger strap on one muffler (after a 1-1/2 hour session applying and inspecting progress I feel a little )so it's not truly finished yet but here's the latest............... and a close up shot of the tip. The shine and the way the BMF layed down smooth turned out to my liking on this!
  5. Great work so far Tim! The detail and finish work on this thing displays nothing but raw talent! Keep it comin' hoss!
  6. I like that alternator. The detail is really crisp on that!!
  7. That Dan......is a point well taken. Makes perfect sense.
  8. Tom: Thank you sir! I'm looking forward to the finish as well. Lee: Thanks buddy! On this build I'm going to leave the interior as is here. I've gotta have something that says "I was here when I was 14!" . Dan: Thank you as well bud! I've used this stuff before and you're right.................it's addictive! Jeremy: Thanks Jeremy! I appreciate that! Everybody:Today I tried BMF on for size in the automotive world. To briefly qualify myself here, I am no stranger to this stuff. I use it in my aircraft building in places that had bare aluminum, particularly on my Luftwaffe subjects. My Fw190D-9 with matte aluminum BMF on the undersides: My experience with BMF in the automotive world went quite different. It took me several tries before I was even remotely satisfied with the outcome. The chrome BMF, I found out, requires this stuff to be as smooth as a baby's butt. I have mixed feelings about it here but I think I can live with it.
  9. Thank you Jim and Brodie! I feel like that all the frikkin' time Jim! I'm loving this build the whole way but I'm ready for it to be done already! lol . I'm not gonna short cut it or give in but that feeling is there all the time about the getting done. What's really funny about it is that this was initially going to be a job where I pulled it down from the shelf, painted a replacement hood and rear spoiler up, install the two pieces and put it back up on the shelf so I could move on to my Bf109 build that's still in the box next to the bench. I had no idea what I was in for.
  10. Hahahahaha!!! Woooo hooooo! Let there be a gong strike for that!!!! I would definitely get a heck of a lot more out of it I know that. BTW it's funny that should come up about the TV. I bought a mini DVD player a few weeks back to take on trips for our son. Well it doubles for entertainment in the form of modeling how-to videos (weathering, painting and the like) while everybody else in the house is watching the "tsunami of window lickers"on TV. Great progress on that motor Jim!
  11. I don't think I've ever heard that term before!! LOL Looks to be a great project!!
  12. It's always a good thing when a good modeling friend that you meet on the forum sends you something in the mail unexpectedly. For those of you who know I built a Revell 1/48 Corsair just before Christmas as a gift to a close friend of mine here in Corpus and that thing fought me from the time I opened the box until I finished the last detail. The recipient of the build was highly grateful and all the work was worth it. My fellow modeler buddy sent me this after watching all of the hell I went though on that Revell build............
  13. I've seen it before but could watch this a thousand times!!! Totally bad A!
  14. ..............and he splashes the scene with a Hemi Roadrunner!. Gotta let tha big dog eat! Welcome back to modeling world Ernie!!
  15. You know, when I came to this site I just wanted to know about how to get a glossier shine on my gloss coats. I had no earthly idea of all the stuff that I would not only be seeing while during my journey here but all of the things I would be picking up and learning along the way. It's guys like you and several others that have given the automotive model building experience as well as model building in general a whole new meaning to me. This sir JC, is some good stuff.
  16. That's pretty much the same questions I had buzzing through my head on my Challenger build Pat. I need help with that too!
  17. Thanks Dave! Hopefully it goes into the body in the next two weeks!
  18. A husband /wife project. This is awesome! The build is great as well but the whole concept of the duo build with the wife is great!
  19. Lookin' good bro!! The BMF looks good.
  20. Man those G-2's do look Bad A!! There's just something about a couple of Flak cannons on those that gives 'em that true sinister look!!
  21. Scratch 'at on the delivery of the BMF on Friday. It's gonna be here today!!! Looks like I'll be able to finish that exhaust up by tomorrow morning! Thanks for the vote of confidence Brayden! After watching some of the builds in here I feel I have a ways to go..............but I'm learnin'!
  22. This is a cool kit too! Dang dude what's your stash look like? lol
