  1. Dayuum! Tear it up killer! Good work here Jim! Wow!
  2. Not a HUGE update but all I had time for this morning. I broke out the Dremel and went to work on the fuel line tee off's to each carb. I made the 90 degree turn to the carbs and tapered the tee off at the main inlet line connection/ merge to fuse it in and make it look more like part of the line assy.
  3. That detail on the engine looks great! Can't wait to see the finished product outta this.
  4. Heya Tom. Freakshow (aka Fred) showed me how to do spark plug wires at the distributor. If you already know all this then just disregard. First off I am using Lex's Scale Modeling spark plug wires. I drilled 8 holes in the distributor with the pin vise. Then I cut 1/8" sections of the next step up wire insulation and slid them over the Lex wires for the spark plug wire boots at the distributor and left just enough of the Lex's wire protruding through to insert into the holes in the distributor. (Keep in mind this is my first, I'll be using a smaller drill bit and more precision on my next go round)
  5. Heya Mirko! That's one hek of a build.
  6. Garage is awesome Pat! Can you build me a 1:1 size? lol
  7. I like stuff like this. It's different. Nice build dude!
  8. Thanks Lee! I have that same picture but I appreciate the helpful gesture man!
  9. It's gonna be ok and thanks Dan. All I have to do is add the two lines to the main one. I think I have it covered. Key work=think.
  10. Those powertrain and drivetrain components look awesome! Great weathering!!!
  11. Thanks Daniel. The 1/24 Trumpter 109 I finished about 2 years ago and I was really happy with it. Being my first all out build I constantly think about things I could have pulled off differently but I look upon it as a decent build. Luftwaffe builds are my home base in modeling. Here she is. At the time I was still learning the camera. I need to take some updated photos with my current photo shooting knowledge.
  12. Thanks Lee! Say that's what I was talking about with the branch off's. Central split though...............hmm..............lemme look at my reference again to see what you're talking about.
  13. Look's like they are coming along nicely. Detroit would be proud!
  14. Thanks Dan! I had to make some tweaks this morning so that the air cleaner would fit over the wires and got that behind me......thankfully! Carl: Thanks for your comments too and yes I airbrushed them. Although I'm happy with the outcome of the wheels , I think I'm going to use Jim Daniels method of brushing the Model Master Metalizer paint on next time around. Ok for today's update. I only had about an hour this morning at the bench but I did manage to get started on the fuel line. I used a piece of solder to form the shape of the line initially and then used it as a template for a more rigid copper wire. The fuel filter is a piece of resin stock I had laying around. I simply cut the length I needed and drilled a hole through it and ran it through the copper wire halfway through the shaping process. I still have to clean the filter up and re-tweak the fuel line in a couple of places....namely the line to fuel pump connection but here's where its at right now. I've got plans for the other two branch off's at the carbs. Then there's the shot at the fuel pump. I don't like the fact that when I'm working on one area it always seems like I end up bumping something or needing to touch up things but "it is what it is". I knocked the alternator wiring loose at the back of the alternator. I aint touchin' it for repairs until I get this and the heater hoses done.
  15. Keep it comin' Ryan. Lookin' great!
  16. Thanks Lee! I still have a little ways to go with this 24th scale stuff. lol I appreciate the "atta boy" on the engine Tim! I have some tweeking to go with the wires so the air cleaner fits right but it should be ok. More coming tomorrow morning..............
  17. Thanks Jim! I'll be jotting that down in the "little black book".
  18. Well this morning I got up (at 2:45 a.m.), and after feeding my dogs and letting them out , started finishing up the wiring. While it isn't all I'd hoped for, it didn't turn out as bad as it could have. I installed the exhaust manifolds as well. I may try to play around with the natural "lay" and "droop" of the wires some more.Time to start working on fuel lines next..... and then I painted the tires with Polly S acrylic silver and removed the masks and did a test fit into one of the rear tires. I am NOT disappointed here!
  19. and I was just gonna ask for a sound clip! The video sounds like a much better idea.
  20. This work is in a class by itself!
  21. Thanks Carl!!! 'Preciate it there Dan! I have a slew of those syringes so why not make use of it. lol
  22. Thanks Jim for the encouragement! I managed to mask off the wheels this morning...... I also did a little pre-shading in the form of a dark wash around the lugnuts and center cap. I'll see how this turns out after a light coat of paint. If it doesn't work out I'll hit it with a light wash in those areas. I'll apply a little silly putty around the edge of the wheels before painting. For now these are set aside for the wash to dry. Now here came the tricky part after mounting the distributor and wires. I needed a third hand to hold the engine assy while I bent the wires without making them look like a bent up mess. It took me a few minutes in thought over a cup of coffee while petting "idiot 1" (see previous posts for meaning) but I came up with this: The sacrificial syringe tube. Hell I use the needles for gun barrels on my quick builds (quick meaning two months as opposed to 8+ months for the long builds) so why not make use of the rest of the thing? I think I can wire this up now without damaging any of the rest of the detail I have on the engine and it still be held in place good. Now I'm just waiting on the glue to dry for distributor mounting and I'll go to work........................
