  1. That's some really nice work. Excellent paint and detail!
  2. Excellent work! Came out very nice! I see you put on the "CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW" exhaust!
  3. That's a pretty wild paint job. Interesting build!
  4. Excellent paint work and detail! I really like it with the top off Paul
  5. Good looking combo. Nice work.
  6. The type of pump that is being used is a electric inline pump (meziere is the company that builds the 1.1). This pump mounts to the bottom outlet of the radiator and the hoses from the heads mount to the pump. The system will have a upper hose that goes to the engine also. To make the pump a couple pieces of styrene were glued together and carved into the shape of the body of the pump. This part was glued to a piece of sprue. A hole was drilled in one end of the pump to put a locating pin. A hole was drilled in the radiator for the pin to mount the pump. The radiator was built awhile back. I made some brackets to finish it off. Still have some fitting to do so I'm not quit done yet, but this is where its at now................. Thanks for looking, More to come..................... Paul
  7. The cooling system took a bit to figure out. Since there is no water pump on the engine and trying to make a pump fit behind the blower belt was a challenge in it self, I had to look at other options. After searching the web for awhile for ideas, This is what I came up with. First thing to do was to make the cooling hoses. They are made using heater hose from msc model products, A few brass compression fittings and some wire that fit inside the hose. The hose was a little bigger than the fittings so it was shaved down and sliced at a angle and then the fitting slipped right on. Next the wire was pushed into the hose leaving enough hanging out to put into a hole that is drilled into the front of each cylinder head. The reason for the wire is so the hose will hold its shape after its bent............. Then the hose was routed to the radiator............. There's more in just a little bit...............
  8. I appreciate all the comments and thanks for following along. I think I managed to get the body all done. After the hood was primed, I found a couple areas to work on. Afterward the hood was primed and ready for paint.............. It's been awhile since the body was painted and was trying to remember how many coats of paint to lay down. Ended up doing two light coats color and 3 clear coats. This seem to match up with the body color really well.......... The hood was left to dry all week. Sat down Friday night and polished it out. I'm happy it matches so well with the body even thought they were painted 1 year apart............... Mike, If you mean their custom lacquer system, Yes. Part# 28111. Worked on the cooling system last night and today....
  9. Thanks for all the comments and thoughts. Very much appreciated. As you know I cleared the body last weekend. It was left to cure all week and last night I started polishing the clear out. I used a micro-mesh polishing cloth kit. I do one panel at a time being careful to stay away from the edges. I really like this Mr. Super Clear product. Goes on nice, polishes up like glass. Here's a couple pics of the body after the polishing............ Hope to get the hood painted today. Also figuring out the cooling system that I want to do. Janne, No, Only the blood line. My great grandfather and grandmother came from there. Have been told my last name is very strong fin. Funny thing, I can't speak a word in that language. Paul
  10. That is a awesome finish! Love the body details. Your effort shows!
  11. Nice!! Very clean looking build!
  12. And here it is with the clear. I'm trying some different clear than what I normally use. It's called Mr. Super Gloss. I'm sure you have heard of it before. This stuff is just about like using Tamiya clear (this is what I normally use). First shot a light coat and then two wet coats. Came out pretty good....... Happy to say the tape didn't pull off the bmf! .............. Polishing is next. Getting ready to do the hood. Just a small issue to take care of and it will get paint. Thanks for the comments. More to come.....................
  13. Made some progress on the body over this last weekend. First, The bmf around the side windows was finished up. Also did the front park lamp housings. Started getting it ready for clear. I'm praying the tape won't pull the bmf off the rear panel. I tested it a few times and it seems to be ok when I pull the tape up, but who knows............ And it's ready for the clear...............
  14. Added the arms and little rod to connect them. The other side of the hat will have the throttle arm...... I know at one point that the engine was fitted and had it sitting in the chassis just the way I wanted it to, but for some reason I sat the engine in there and it was crooked. Low and be hold it turned out to be the exhaust causing the problem. Fixed that and put the engine in and worked on the hole in the hood some. In this last photo, you'll notice the letters BDS on the PE butterfly's in the hat...... That's it for now. More to come. Thanks for looking!
  15. It's been a couple months since the last update. I have been able to put in a little time here and there and made some head way working on the fuel system on the engine. In some of the previous updates I show a injector hat that I was originally going to use but changed my mind. This is the one I'm using.......... I made a barrel valve to mount to the hat. Using some fittings I had in my stash, I made up the fuel lines to the hat and the base of the intake manifold. The line is fishing line that has a metal core that holds it shape real good. Plus as you unroll it, it changes color so you know how deep you are. It just happen to have this brown color. Had to drill out the fittings as the ID was smaller than the line. And both lines are in place.....
  16. Then the sanding took care of the rest. And this is the result...... In this picture you can see how the transition to the cove turned out. You will also notice that there is no filler or putty work as everything was done with superglue only. It's ready for primer but will wait till the engine details are finished up so the hood can be trimmed here or there to fit. Thanks for looking and more to come...................
  17. Also worked on the last body part, The hood. A hole was opened up for the supercharger to poke through. It was opened up big enough to see what was going to be needed to clear everything. The hood looked to flat to me. It needed something to help cover more of the supercharger and give some height to the hood. Looked through my junkyard of hoods and decided the hood from the 1967 chevelle max rat would lend itself perfectly. The hood was cut apart and the leftover part was shaped with a file, placed on the hood and marked where it was to be opened up to fit the new part.......... Then the hole was cut in the hood to fit the new part. The stock charger hood has what I would call a cove (or recess) on both sides so had to figure out how to deal with those.......... Before the part was to be glued in, the injector hat hole had to be cut..... Now that the part was glued in, it was time to deal with transition to the coves. What ended up being done was to cut slots in the hood to accept a piece of sheet plastic.........
  18. Got a little more done the past few weeks. Was wanting to get the engine finished but that didn't happen. But here's what I did get done and it was one of the bigger things I had to do to the engine. I had already did the fuel lines at the base of the injector hat but needed to do the lines at the base of the manifold. Here are a couple pictures of how it turned out........ More to come................
  19. Great work on this conversion. Your effort shows! Nice engine detail too! Paul
  20. First one I'v seen built. You did real good on this build. Colors perfect, Wheels and tires look right and the engine with that intake is cool. Nice build! Paul
  21. Thanks for the comments and following along. I'm looking forward to finishing this project. I do have another update, kind of part 2 of my last post. Tubbs......Your right! Seems like I hit third...Not sure though....Still grinding its way in.....When the noise stops it should be in third(I hope) On the console top, I figured where the shifter will go and drilled the hole and added a couple notches. It was primed and painted body color and cleared. It was glued in and the shifter mounted. The passenger seat was put in also.... Then the rollcage was put in for the final time.............. And here's with the dash just mocked up. The steering column still needs to go in and that's in the works. That's it for now, More to come............... Paul
  22. Things have finally slowed down a bit and with summer coming to a close I have been able to get some time behind the bench. It sure is fun picking up where you left off after 2 months. If anything it gave me time to figure a few things out. When I left off, I was working fitting the shifter to the console. The position of the shifter was off from where I wanted it. The console top had already been painted and foiled so the bare metal and paint was removed . A separate console top plate was made to fit into the console. Doing this allowed me to locate the shifter where ever I wanted and covered the holes I didn't want. As can be seen in the last picture, Something needs to be done with the floor. The only color I have that would look any good on the floor is embossing powder. But before applying the powder, Bmf was used on the chrome trim at the base of the console. Afterward, I carefully brushed on MM flat clear acryl. Once the clear was in the area I wanted, I just poured the powder right out of the jar onto that area and waiting about 2 min and just tapped it out onto a napkin. Then went on to the next area. Here's a picture of what it looks like with one coat..... And this is after three coats. In this photo, The front floor has been top coated with the flat clear to seal it so loose pieces won't haunt me later.... Also worked on the front seats getting them painted and also painting the headrests and mounting them to the seats. I used the existing seat belts covering them with ribbon and bmf. The console top was covered with bmf an glued to the console........... Thanks for looking, More to come............... Paul
