Would be nice to have the location and date in the subject line.

2019 Philly show was just as good (maybe better) than last year with more room for the models and vendors. And what's not to like about seeing four of the cars bending driven hard around the football field size parking lot. Here are just a few pictures. Marcos Cruz posted a lot on Facebook.

How cold is too cold to paint outside?
vamach1 replied to vamach1's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It's a 70 Coupe I converted from the 70 Boss 302 kit. Not sure if I will give it the Grande treatment. I have not done a vinyl roof before. -

A cobra no - just an oversized MG. . I was inspired by your King Cobra and I had to do minimal sanding of mold lines. While I was at it I also compared it to the Fujumi kit which of course is not a real 427 but a modern compromise. I am toying with cutting out the trunk but that would require sacrificing a good body. When the other one is ready for primer I'll post side by side pictures are there are distinct differences between the two bodies. Suffice it to say the Fujumi engine is shameful and needs some replacement parts to make it presentable. I figured the paint was warm enough being inside near the fireplace. -

So lately I have experiemted with painting outside in 39f degrees and there does not seem to be any adverse effects. This is just Testors flat primer on a plastic body (or another coat after sanding) but I was surprised there's no difference that I can see compared to the normal recommend warmer temps. The model and paint are warm from being inside, I dash outside and spray for 15-30 seconds and go back inside. Haas anyone else tried something this crazy?

Oh yes indeed very nice. Once I get a batch of Mustangs done hopefully this summer I'l go on a painting binge and at least get paint on all the 66 Lemans entries. It should less intimidating than trying to build a fleet of 427 Cobras like 65slotcar is doing. Thanks to Gramps46 I added a few more Revell/Fujumi GT40's to the unbuilt stack.

I like it a lot. Perhaps now you can do an after or as when new version. Has the real car been restored yet?

So when are those VRM decals going to be ready for the rest of us. The website has not been updated since 2015.

Very nice. Mel Gibson would be proud.

Darn unleaded gas. With that six pack the cats would have to go.

Not familar with that kit. Paint is very nice. Was a dual exhaust system included? Sadly the old Mustang kits of that era only had resonators and no oval mufflers.

They were quite the couple. I still have a LIfeLike set and various cars but have not gotten it out in many years. Same goes for the Sizzlers track.

I ordered a lot of parts today and look forward to receiving the order. They offer some Ford stuff I have not seen before. I'll post pictures when they come in.

I destroyed a DM 71 Boss 351 but I only had about $20 invested thnaks to a bulk auction some years ago. It was in perfect condition but without the original packaging. So why would I intentionally ruin it. My pet peeve is the MPC and MPC kits of 71-73 Mustangs as so bad they are in desperate need of some extra stock parts so I have had many parts resin cast to include the space saver spare, ram air plenum, air cleaner, door panels, front seats, seat belt retractors, shock tower bracing, dash, rim blow steering wheel, center console, rev limiter, and more. Since I had another perfect Boss and the blue DM Mach1 it was worth tearing one apart knowing it will never be the same. PS - nice save on the Camaro. These diecasts were not meant to be taken apart as so many parts are superglued.

Cool idea to do the car as it was found. I have the body ready for primer but now you have me thinking going another route with my 2nd one. If you want to omit the Shelby roll bar mount the 70 Mach1 interior will fit. At least your car will be mostly one color unlike my 70 Palmer Boss 302.

That would be my guess too. For some reason I did not get one when they were available. They pop up on Ebay once in a while.

Decals Dodge Charger LM 1976
vamach1 replied to beaver63's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Yes - all of their decals look like knockoffs of Fred Cady and from anyone else that sold original decals. -
Amazing build with what looks like a box stock build with excellent detailing.

Nice job. Now go enjoy a King Cobra beer on a job well done. Disclaimer - drink responsibly and do not try to build models when buzzed.

I guess if you have never been (I have not) then I do not know what I have missed. I do know that in a four month span (Feb-May) I can go to five model shows (VA, NoVa, PA , NJ and MD) within a four hours drive and see a few thousand car models all without spending anything on hotels. While 99% of the models may not be up to GSL standards, I think the short term future of the hobby is still in these shows that are primarily geared toward the average to very good builder instead of the folks that dedicate two years on one model. I just hope these other shows are around for another decade or more but one look round the any of them it is obvious that unless more younger (under 50 LOL) builders start coming the attendance is going to peak pretty soon and start to decline to a point where we might end up in much smaller venues like the first NNL's. Sorry if I depressed anybody. Build until you drop.
