  1. Curious what the engine looks like? It is a Boss 429 or a 429CJ or neither? It wa pretty common for AMT and MPC to recycle a engine from a previous kit (e.g. 428 from the 68/70 Mustangs) and pretend it's something else.
  2. Too bad it does not come in spray cans.
  3. Hopefullly it will pop off and you can flip it around. I have a 1:1 72 Mach1 that I installed a rear spoiler so it's the first thing I notice on any 69-73 Mustang real or otherwise.
  4. Pinholes are very common in small resin kits. Once you prime it you might find some more. I miss the old PM and Starter kits.
  5. Forgot to mention it is a really nice build too.
  6. The. Front would be more of a challenge but I had a kit Cobra I drove for five years without a front plate and was never pulled over. Withi this version you even have room for two suitcases and a spare tire. There are quite a few Mark I roads cars but I thinks all the Mark II's were built for racing first. Some of the Cobra Daytona Coupes were street legal and driven so anything is possible.
  7. I see these and think man I am about a 3 on a ten scale. Tell your dad they are 10's and most of us are not worthy. Thanks for posting them. I will say this - I have never really tackled a large scale detailed kit so they certainly have an advantage when it come accuracy but it still takes a lot of talent to pull it all together. Bravo.
  8. The hood paint on Mustangs has held me back on some builds. With scoops and bulges and thin stripes and curves it makes it quite a challenge for sure. Rarely can decals handle all the contours and lay down flat. Yes - hats off those those that figure out what works for them.
  9. Love it in black. Very clean. I'm still figuring out to paint all the separate body pieces but somehow make them look like one when glued together.
  10. Just remember the Boss has the scoops filled in behind the doors and the Mach1 has the fake scoops.
  11. Any leads would be appreciated. It drives me nuts both the MPC and AMT 71-73 Mustangs both have resonators or the cherry bomb type mufflers instead of true dual exhaust oval mufflers. With at least a dozen versions I'm building I need a lot of mufflers that appear close to the ones in the picture.
  12. Very nice detailing. FYI on the rear spoiler. Don't worry - I have seen real cars with the same issue.
  13. . Fantastic looking build.
  14. For those not familar with the Series I here is the instruction sheet. My kit is missing a few pieces so it may end up as a donor for a Pantera.
  15. JC how about it? The orange version looks to have the Maier racing hood but the vintage pictures show the flat hood like the resin one you now have. So ....... what do you think?
  16. Thanks for the info. I could not tell what they were. I guess you need a/c in a cramped car like that. Anyway, here's a model with and engine compartment that I just got in the mail today from China. Well - too bad it's 1/64 scale.
  17. Here's a stock engine compartment. Not much there except for some cross members and radiator hoses.
  18. No no no to a Chevy or Wankel but it is okay to put a LS into a Delorean.
  19. If you ever get to take a flight on a B-17 do it. $400 or more may seem like a lot but I could go anywhere in the plane, stuck my head out the roof at 200+ mph, saw a P-51 fly next to us and sat behind the pilot on the takeoff and landing. Priceless.
  20. I guess it depended on the track availability and no one can predict the weather but people get 4/17 in their head and will not consider anything else. The AACA museum had an event on 4/17. Couldn't they even wait for the weekend? DUMB. I may go to Mustang week this year - they finally got smart and moved the show from the hottest time of the summer and the peak season to later in the year.
  21. We might be able to work something out. It's probably one I will never build.
  22. I assume you have seen the ARII kit. It has a similar front end.
  23. Hopefully there are some military modeling experts out there. My dad flew a B-17 and I was was to make a kit of one I'd go to IPMS meetings, search old FSM issues and check for books on the real planes or how-to modeling books. This is one plane that has been covered hundreds of times (as opposed to say building an obscure 1 of 1 show car) and there should be many resources on-line to help with the correct colors. Needless to to say there are dozens of variations of B-17's if you factor in color, where they were stationed, and early versus closer to end of the war production, etc. If you doing a Memphis Belle you're in luck since it is the most famous early B-17. My dad flew a dozen different ones on 30 missions in 44/45 (out of England) and each plane was probably a little different. He took some flak hits but got home safely every time.
  24. It's a 1/24 Nichimo motorized kit with a basic race interior. As best I can tell it is supposed to be a GR5 car similar to this one.
  25. I built a street GT350 from a coupe and a fastback conversion kit back in the 80's. It eventually cracked but I still have it. Nice job - much harder to do before the Monogram kit came out.
