  1. I like this kit for it's realism and relative simplicity. My only issue (no fault of R/M) is the hood stripes look great on the sheet but will not cover the hood scoop without some wrinkles. The ones I built I painted the center stripes. My prayers to the modeling gods have not been answered for a 1/24 kit of a 71-73 Mustang. Somehow we got a 69 Shelby fastback and finally a convertible but as long as those old MPC molds are still around and they can sell enough I'm stuck with a 73 fastback without even the correct decals. My apologies for going off topic. Good luck with the resto - I have about ten unbuilt 65-66 R/M Mustangs and Shelbys.
  2. Yah it is no longer a girly man car. (Spoke in thick Austrian accent). . Good job Cobraman.
  3. Takes the concept of each part or assembly is a model in itself to a whole other level.
  4. 1971 because a few years car went from cool to lame and the good used ones were cheap due to high gas prices and rationing. By 1972 compression was lowered, unleaded gas was just around the corner, and insurance rates were going up. Big blocks were making their last stand before being detuned an only put in trucks and land yachts. The 426 HEMI and Boss 429 and 454 and 455's were becoming dinosaurs so this was the last hurrah for decades. In hindsight I wish I found a 71 Mustang instead of a 72 but back then at 18 owning a Mach1 was not so bad even if it was down on power a lot. I still managed to get a lot of tickets anyway. To be able to able to go in the garage and turn the key in a car I have had for almost 40 years blows my mind but I would not have it any other way.
  5. Hey hey. Any wrecked muscle car is sad to see. I would imagine doing a Corvette is a whole different ballgame.
  6. A little weird but hey - it's what the hobby is all about - FUN. Very very nice. I would not be surprised to see it in a contest issue down the road.
  7. Could be the jackpot or booby prize. Scotch tape does not make it a sealed kit. Pictures of the contents are a must.
  8. Looking good Jason. There is a MAMA meeting on Saturday in Greenbelt. Bring some of your builds.
  9. Thanks. If I can get one a month done that's three.
  10. Do we have an official start date. I am slowly making some progress on a few I already painted but no where near to finishing one much less ten.
  11. Two thumbs up. Someday I'll do a European rally version with the oversized lights.
  12. The good news is the is finally a model of the purple Milano Mustang. The bad news is it's about $120 and is in 1/43 scale.
  13. Nicely done and good color choice.
  14. Can I say freaking awesome and I bet you're glad it's almost done. Projects like this can get stalled when so much has to be engineered along the way. Make up some fake instructions and enter an IPMS box stock contest class and watch the looks on the judges faces.
  15. Not sure how many pictures were being taken that day with all the chaos. Photo's with the G's are probably more plentiful as it got safer later in hte war (you had a much better chance of surviving 25-30 missions) than before the P-51 escorts. My father flew in late 44 and early 45 over mostly Germany and was based in England. I found mission records at the National Archives but finding pictures is very hard given that thousands of B-17's were made. Anyway, here is Captain Turner and his crew training in Texas. Whenever I think I am having a bad day I think I should not be complaining at all.
  16. Interesting that the body looks pretty stock. I would be torn between a drag car and a Grabber street version. Can I assume this is a Johan?
  17. I guess I will hang in there a few more months. I placed an order in March so I guess that is not unusual under normal circumstances. Let's hope this turns out well and he gets back on his feet.
  18. I owned a real one about 20 years ago. Very nicely done and looks like a very detailed ki.
  19. That is Boss. Nice job.
  20. The 67 convertible is a fairly rare kit. Nice score if you picked that up. It's not the most accurate kits but it's not bad. As for the decals - all the reissues of that kit should have them. Old decals can be a problem. Nice job on the gold paint. I built that kit about 40 years ago in that color.
  21. So look what I found in at Carlisle. It was in an 85 Mustang kit with an old MPC 69 Mustang in it and some misc wheels and tires. There was only one but at least I can get more cast. Had I not been curious what was in that box I would have never found it.
  22. Very nice work. Can you tell us which kit the Daytona Coupe is?
  23. Testors has that color (beige) in spray cans.
  24. Gold is indeed a tough color indeed. If you used Testors you might try Tamiya so it does not have the elmers and macaroni gold look we all remember as kids.
  25. Count me in for two sets for sure.
