  1. Gold or white. I had to double up the decals when I used them on a darker color.
  2. Looking good. Are you going to substitute another carb for the kit one? There are a lot of great 3D printed ones available.
  3. Perhaps I was thinking of some of the Drag race versions of the kit. Also I think the MPC 83 GT kit has a v8 that looks larger than a 302 but not like a big block Ford. I think my point is that the models kits of the 60s and 70s would lag behind the real cars so that is how you end up with a Boss 429 in a 73 Mustang or Cougar kit despite Ford dropping the engine after 1970.
  4. It’s a shame the same incorrect engines (for a stock build) have been carried over to every reissue in just about every FOMOCO AMT and MPC kit since the 1970s. Only by looking at a few years later (Mustang II kits) might you find something that resembles a 351 engine which of course was never Installed in a real 74 and later Mustang.
  5. Looks like the same kit rebranded as AMT in 2015.
  6. Very realistic build. I love the windshield “clean” portion.
  7. I was not sure when this kit may be available is the US market so I ordered two from the UK and they arrived in about two weeks. I have started on the build By gluing the engine together and hope to not take as long as I did to finish the Boss 351. As you can tell it shares many of the same parts with the 351 kit with the main differences being the engine, front bumper, rear panel, and wheels and tires. It should be noted that the movie car had C code 429, with a C6 automatic which can be sourced by aftermarket resin casters. Other things to note is the “hero” car did not have the deluxe steering wheel and had the standard two spoke wheel instead, and it was a non ram air car so the air cleaner would look different. Revell did go through the trouble of making a new hood (without the twist locks) but alas the engraving for the ram air plenum on the underside is still there. The hook locks brackets on the radiator support should be removed since those are part of the ram air option. So to build a J code 429 Mach1 with a hurst four speed and ram air all you would need to do is swap hoods with the Boss 351 kit, paint the black or silver on the hood, and use the side stripes from the Boss 351 kit and source some 429 RAM AIR decals for the hood from Rays kits.
  8. I have several builds from the mid to late 1980s. Here are a few of them.
  9. Fantastic work my friend.
  10. Is there a date for the 2024 show? My bad. I see it is on April 13th. https://desertscaleclassic.org/dsc20-rules
  11. That's a good question. Supply chain issues? The website is gone.
  12. Very nice work. Seeing this build with the borrowed parts from a 73 kit reminds me of what the 71-73 Mustang kits could have been with a more realistic engine compartment and correct dual exhaust system.
  13. I agree that the new/old kit is not as good as an original kit. Over the years I have collected some old built ups of the fastback, a few built ups of the original MPC version that has separate door handles, and a promo which had been painted. The standard for reissued AMT kits that have not been on store shelves in almost 60 years is still there otherwise Round2 would not have brought them back. Pictured is the MPC kit and a promo I repainted red.
  14. Beautifully done with all the added details.
  15. Thanks for the quick and detailed response.
  16. I have not seen any yet but Rayskits might be a good one to ask as he does some large scale decals.
  17. Looks like you are well one your way to another awesome kit bashed 66 Mustang. If you do not mind I’d Ike to learn more about the LED lights and whether you used the it decal with perhaps a piece of clear sheet plastic sprayed with clear with a green tint. The dash in your other Mustangs look very realistic. If I was to replicate them like they are in my 1:1 72 Mach1 they would be very dim. ? A decade or so ago I replaced the dash bulbs with LED that have a blue tint and are much brighter at night.
  18. Norm of Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland lists a Ford straight six in his catalog made by Scale Resin Detailers.
  19. Just like the 66 convertible you knocked this out of the park.
  20. Thanks for posting the work in progress pictures. Very well executed with all the changes from the stock build.
  21. Nice color and the Revell chassis is so much better than the 55 year old AMT chassis.
  22. Welcome from a fellow Mustang owner and model car builder. Impressive build of your 66 convertible down to the grille, wheels covers, license plate and paint color.
  23. Interesting to go back ad read these post when at the time the Revell Boss 351 and Mach1 kits had not been announced yet. I hope some of the USA distributors of Revell of Germany get the 007 Mustang by the end of this year.
  24. That looks good. I hope also Revell does a 73 Mach1 version which should be pretty easy with the NACA hood, 351 CJ with stock valve covers, and correct 73 Mach1 decals. Maybe slip in the ram-air plenum for bonus points.
  25. Pictures from Lemans museum.
