  1. Found some pictures of when I was in Miami of some Cobra kit cars.
  2. Here is an interesting kit Cobra that sold a few days ago in Mesa AZ.
  3. I saw the car at some shows in Miami also. None of the original Cobras were fiberglass. The owner has gone to some lengths to make a nice replica though. I have also seen aluminum body replicas which fill the void for those that cannot afford a seven figure original.
  4. Reading the comments I guess one thing stands out. Unlike Round2 recycling old AMT and MPC kits with a lot of parts to build perhaps a drag car or road racer or street racer or Mach1 etc, the reality is those kits never had a 351C or 429CJ engine or correct exhaust system etc. As most of you know I have a soft spot for 71-73 Mustangs having owned five 72s and one 73 in the last 47 years. With aftermarket decals available the only key item missing is the “flat” hood to make a non-Boss/Mach1 version and we have seen a 73 grille is in works. I have not tried to see if various parts from the MPC/AMT kits will fit the Revell Boss/Mach1 kit but I’m sure it would not be a huge problem. Finding a suitable replacement engine for represent a 302 2bbl engine should not be too difficult either as again the aftermarket decals for various Ford engine sizes are available. Ideally Revell would make a half a dozen different variations of the Boss/Mach1 kit and I would be over the moon but I’m not going to hold my breath. I’ve built a lot of AMT/MPC 71-73 Mustangs and always had to deal with a lot of compromises and source parts from other places so if I can start with a Revell where only a little parts swapping is needed I will take that any day.
  5. The 69’s were not selling too well due to the high price. Even with the cost being more than a Mach1 or Boss they probably did not make as much as on a base model Mustang with a lot of options. Shelby was out of the picture so Ford just reassigned new VINs for the unsold cars and if you bought one back then for $5K they are worth well in excess of $100K these days in excellent condition.
  6. Nice color combo. The 69 Boss 302s did not have ram air or hood scoop as perhaps Shinoda wanted them to look different from the Mach1 or Boss 429. I wish Revell had modified the interior that they borrowed from the Shelby GT500 kit that had the factory roll bar.
  7. Looks great. Building a similar one is on my long list of Mustangs I hope to get to someday.
  8. I did not realize the older MPC 73 Mustangs have the Blue Cresent 70 Mustang parts. I’ll have to try out those parts with the Mach Won rerelease as I’d like to make a stock 1/25 1970 Mach1.
  9. I like it a lot. Really nice inside and out and the engine looks awesome.
  10. That was my view from the balcony a few nights ago. Seeing the same flames on the tv and on the balcony are something else. I’m gone from VAMach1 to FLMach1 to CAMach1 and next year will move again and be AZMach1. As others have pointed out, very sad for the residents but they whether they were duped and forgot common sense that there needed to be better preventative measure as others have mentioned has sadly come to roost. This will only make housing even more expensive but I hope for the short time I am here people realize perhaps going back to having an infrastructure and policies that will mitigate future fire damage is needed. Letting millions of urban residents with beliefs and ideologies they have been taught that are supposed to save the planet hopefully will realize for this area decades of poor decisions were made. That is a shame as this a beautiful state and the people in the areas with the multi-million dollar houses should perhaps be more concerned about whether there is enough water to put out fires around them if they decide to stay and rebuild. If nothing changes I think many will not wait around and move elsewhere and start over. I have met some great people here in just a short time and as long time residents they have seen a lot of change most of which has not been for the better.
  11. YES. I drove 12 hours each way to go there in 2023.
  12. I bought this kit and might copy your paint scheme as it looks just right.
  13. Very nice. No need to modify the “coupe” interior as the back seat is a carry over from the convertible molds.
  14. The age of the organizers/volunteers plus the cost of the venue are the primary factors. Without a national organization it’s inevitable for events that are only once a year. On the other hand IPMS has thousands of members and chapters and regional and national and international events and local and national dues which ensures they will be around a long time. However, IPMS events are contests with dozen of categories and judging and is open to planes, tanks, ship, figures, fantasy, etc. so with a much broader interest. To generalize I believe car modelers tend to be very creative and like less structure and rules, so these NNL events were stated decades ago they did spread around the county but this is the 2nd major NNL event that has come to an end. I hope NNL East and ACME and other major model car events continue but as others have noticed looking around the average age of the entrants and vendors seems to be at or near 65.
  15. Found this video on YouTube. One hour and 40 minutes.
  16. It will be my first time at this show. Better late than never I guess.
  17. Robert did a great job on the video.
  18. Robert Barkoski did an awesome job putting this video together of our club meetings this year.
  19. Although the 70 and 69 Shelby’s have very little difference it took a few decades for a 70 GT500 to be repackaged with the hood decals and front spolier so you might be right. I’m sure there are also be licensing issues as Denice Halacki has the rights to the original Eleanor movie.
  20. Awesome 3D work. Has anyone ever build the MPC mustang kit to replicate the TV show car? I have the kit but have never built it.
  21. I have no inside info but I hope we see an Eleanor/Sportsroof and 73 Mach1 version in 2025. The standard hood would be ideal for a Sprint edition. My wish which I doubt will ever happen is to see a 71-73 convertible version.
  22. Looking very nice with all the extra working features you added,
  23. Go for it. Fortunately the Mach1 I bought 42 years ago is still in my garage. You can used parts from the Boss and Mach1 kits to recreate the one you owned. That’s my son with my car at a show a few month ago.
  24. Very nicely done and beautiful paint. On these builds (Boss and Mach1) I painted the lower part versus using the entire decal. I just used only the silver part of the decal but I suppose one could also used a very thin piece of plastic painted silver as it is a trim piece on the real car which does protrude from the body. The ram-air plenum piece you added looks great and is the same as what was used on factory Boss 351 and all 71-73 Mustangs with functional ram-air. A lot of Mustang owners have added the ram-air to their Mustangs as a complete system is available from aftermarket suppliers. Having built a fair amount of original and reissued AMT and MPC kits of the 71-73 sportsroof Mustangs over the years, the two Revell versions (Mach1 and Boss 351) have brought this body style Mustang on par with other modern tooling premium kits.
