  1. Thanks. Scottsdale near the E thurderbird Rd exit of the 101. I will definitely be going to what shows/swap meets/contest that are in the Phoenix metro area.
  2. Thanks for all the nice comments and packing the builds up reminds me that I have not built any 2005-present Mustangs despite our family having owned six of them. ? I thought I would triple my building output when I retired but between going to car shows and moving a few times it seems like that has happened yet.
  3. Thanks for the reminder that Revell has stepped it up and the 1/12 2010 GT500 kit was probably not a great seller due to its size but I did buy one and most of the others on the list but have yet to build any. Unless a kit is made of a new car when it comes out it seems like they just get passed over. Of course Revell has already reissued some of the Mustangs in the list above as it has been 18 years since the 2005 Mustang came out. I also applaud Revell for not trying to use the same mold year after year and just change the year on the box. Some of the fox body Mustangs MPC and AMT would put out would just change a things but completely miss other differences. Revell/Monogram took some shortcuts with the 69 Shelby and 69/70 Mach1 kit interiors but they have made many kits decades after the real cars were new instead of pouring out the 1 millionth (random guess) AMT 68 GT500 kit with zero improvement to the 55 year old kit. Mustangs kit will always sell regards of the year as with over 10 million real ones sold it’s hard to go wrong with them. Just look at how much a MPC Cobra II kit sells for on auction sites.?
  4. I would not disagree. My son and I have owned 2002-2004 Mustangs (Mach1, Cobra, GT and Saleens) and are there any models of them? Not a one - just 1/18 diecasts. Even 2005-2024 Mustangs kits are few and far between with a few snap or easy build ones. I suppose there are some newer Camaro, Vette, Challenger, Charger kits etc but with 3D printing perhaps some will be available but not from larger companies. Many of the older builder/collectors have so many kits that if kits were pulled from the shelves and none sold for the next five years not many would run out wishing they had something to build. Who knows how many hundreds of thousands of kits are listed on auction sites but as to whether a 40 year old wants to see 80s and 90s kits “reissued” instead of perhaps something you might actually see on the road these days is a good point. Obviously I’m a Ford person but as an example where’s the 2021 Mach1 or the new Dark Horse kits or the GTD? That’s just a few off the top of my head which I would think would appeal to either someone that owns a real one or the younger generation that might wish to own the real thing one day an could build a miniature one for now. I go to a lot of cars shows and when someone starts up a GT40, 2005 Ford GT or 2018 Ford GT people of all ages seem to be drawn to them. I guess my point is some cars are timeless and as the boomers get into their 70’s and 80’s perhaps the old kit supply will suddenly expand and prices will drop and that might entice some younger generations that like old cars to get involved in the hobby. If I was in my early twenties I would probably build and “invest” in new Lego sets as they seem to increase in value a lot more than that 50-60 year old tooling reissued kit that’s on the shelf at the big box store that is not up to todays standards and will not go up in value as they always seen to be available. Many say build what you like but with cars these days lacking uniqueness and it seems like 80% of the newer vehicles on the road are white, black gray or silver and interiors having even less choices I can understand the lack of enthusiasm as fewer all new kits are being made.
  5. Another fantastic build with awesome details.
  6. The Type 65 Cobra is an old Mini Exotics resin body on the Monogram 1/24 Cobra chassis. I built it over 35 years ago.
  7. While packing up my models for the move from FL to AZ I thought it would be a good opportunity to take some pictures. It does not include the 1/43 builds of which I have about two dozen. There are a few 1/16 at the end and some 1/32 and one 1/28 Mach1. Which is your favorite?
  8. Robert got the MKII over the finish line for last nights meeting. He mentioned issues with the kit provided were for the hood pins were too stiff as well as many other issues he and Danny encountered with fitment of some parts which should be no surprise. The final result is stunning thanks to the paint by Ed. The build was started only four months ago and was passed on to four builders (Ed, Brad, Danny and Robert) and everyone did a fantastic job. As for the decals, I will add them at some point but the paint is so gorgeous I think I will leave it for a while. Thanks for looking and I hope to add more of the build comments as I review the instruction sheet where we all made notes.
  9. More great progress by Robert on the group build GT40.
  10. Very cool. It’s one of the first Mustang kits I remember building in the 1970s. I painted mine gold with a red interior. As I’m sure you know this kit has been reissued many times but I think not with all the same parts as when it first came out in 1969.
  11. Thanks. That is the plan (decals) but as the build has progressed if we find a better solution we will change gears ?and be open to anything that is better. I ordered the Indycals tire decals which we will use instead of the kit dry transfer ones.
  12. I hope he recovers and he realizes that was his last race. No shame in retiring as he really has nothing to prove anymore. Being stubborn is a double edged sword which could help him recover or hamper it if he ignores the doctors. If he was ten or fifteen years younger he would probably continue but hopefully his family will convince him otherwise.
  13. Norm and Brad a few weeks ago at a MAMA meeting.
  14. About 20 years ago I cut out the hood from a Johan funny car and Norm fro R&MofMD made some copies for me and a few others for the AMT/MPC kits which I used to make a sprint and Eleanor. As for the Revell kit you may have to wait until the 73 Eleanor version that I assume is going to happen. Perhaps one of the 3D aftermarket companies can make one. I’ve already bought one of the wide body kits for the Revell Boss/Mach1 kits so printing the flat hood should be pretty easy. The only other source for the hood I know about is when Motor City Resin Casters had a coupe conversion kit but they are off of business. Perhaps Gerry Chevailer will make a flat hood but he is focused more on the far superior Revell Mach1/Boss kits instead of the 50 year old AMT/MPC kits.
  15. Very nice. Just add a GT gas cap, GT wheels center caps and a lower body stripe and you have a GT sportsroof. Naturally Ford did not sell many GT models that year with the new Mach1 selling briskly and the Shelbys being another alternative.
  16. Beautiful paint and the gauges look great.
  17. Our forth group member Robert has made great progress with the chassis with painting, assembly and drilling 300 holes in the seats and using a silver fine tip sharpie for the metal rings in the seats. I purchased a set of tire decals from Indycals so when we get to that step we will use them instead of the kit one. The next update will be in two weeks. Robert mentioned the distributor that was added may cause some clearance issues which I guess is to be expected as it was not included in the kit.
  18. Here’s another Mustang build (shocker I know). The Florida humidity was not very cooperative with painting but I pushed ahead as I have a good supply of these kits and I wanted to finish something before I pack up all my kits, paints and tools and head west to Arizona. I used a few parts from the MCG photoetch sheet (grille, snakes and gas cap) and one of the kits I has had such bad chrome I stopped it and painted the bumpers black. The only extra plastic part used was some emissions tubing from another kit for the 428 engine. I thought the MCG wheel center caps were really nice but since I went with mag wheels I used them on a 1/16 Nichimo GT500 kit I built many years ago. Thanks for looking.
  19. Have you tries clicking on the mark site read at the bottom right/. Your pc or whatever you are using might be trying to load every unread post which could be hundreds.
  20. Cool. I started the build before the Revell kit came out Looking forward to see your version. I’d love to see someone do decals for these other 71 Prostock Mustangs (Polaris and the Norris Ford)
  21. Keith’s are less expensive however if you compare the same sets you can see Rays includes a lot more “extra” ones. I guess it depends what you need or want. I have not bought any from Keith for a few years so I’m not sure what his prices are now.
  22. My apologies if I did not post the completed build. I think it was over a year ago that I built this.
  23. Joseph Morgan is the North America distributor. Keep in mind he places prepaid orders with Neal “Ray” Aldenhuysen in the Netherlands who has a printing company produce and ship them to Joseph who then mails them to customers in the US and Canada etc. So while the shipping cost might be only $10 USPS with tracking for multiple decal sheets, expect several months for the order to get in the cue, be printed, shipped bulk to the US and then to the individual customers by Joseph. I have ordered a couple of times and the decals are a great product. Sometimes there are extra sets in Josephs stock and those can be shipped asap an he also sets up a booth and sells at several model car events. You can email Joseph with a questions. I usually contact him via Messenger.
