  1. I managed to put one together from kit and resin parts and aftermarket decals.
  2. Looks great. There are differences between 65-66 and the 71-73 ones but the VCG one looks a heck of a lot better than what I could scratch build. Perhaps VCG will consider printing the 71-73 ones for the new Revell Mach1 kit.
  3. Looks like the VCG resin ones.
  4. Nothing on the Grammy website yet. Country music lost another star. RIP Toby - he battled cancer with dignity to the end.
  5. When I get a chance I can post the Keith Marks, Rays kits and Revell decals for comparison. You would need the Mach1 decals for the fenders and trunk stripe from and aftermarket decal set if you want to do a Mach1 with the silver stripe option. The first picture is the decal sheet available from Keith Marks. They look dark silver but are actually like the Revell and AMT sets. Mofobow@hotmail.com for order info The second picture is the Boss 351 Revell silver portion of the sheet and the AMT decal sheet of the silver Mach1 stripes. Perhaps they could be combined with the Boss 351 decals to make a Mach1 using the Revell kit. The AMT decals looks a little smaller than the Revell ones. The third sheet is the combo Boss 351/Mach1 sheet from Rayskits which can be printed in Silver instead of black upon request. They are sold via the Facebook page by Joseph Morgan. Please note the letting for the words Mach1, Boss 351 on the fenders and truck lid and 351 or 429 ram air on the hood were always either black or silver lettering and were not white. Hope this helps everyone.
  6. Imagine the response to an Eleanor version not being factory correct or not having non stock items. For the record not a single 71-73 Mustang came with rear window louvers from Ford. Any louvers seen on a car are aftermarket ones. I plan to mix and match parts from the Boss 351 and the 007 kits to make whatever I want.
  7. Someone at MPC product planning must have said that Ford MKIV chassis could pass for a VW based kit car chassis. It’s not like kids buying kits would know was the thinking at the time I guess. Another source says they used a modified VW engine and not one from a Porsche. The sound was dubbed in to make it sound more powerful. This YouTube video corrects a lot of the misinformation about the cars.
  8. I would have to say to contact Rayskits would be the most likely to are one as he has done extensive decals sheets with all sorts of air cleaner decals and other under hood stuff. https://rayskits.com/product/1967-1978-ford-motor-company-air-cleaner-engine-bay-decals/
  9. I reviewed the AMT/MPC 007 Mach1 kit about three years ago for a a local model club newsletter. Needless to say I was less than excited about that one. If anyone held off on buying one the wait for the Revell new tooling was worth it.
  10. Engines from both Revell Mustang kits for reference.
  11. I do not have the Torino kit engine for comparison but from pictures I would have to say it looks similar. The 385 series engine in the Cougar, Mustang and Torino whether a CJ or SCJ version would have many external similarities with the air cleaner non-ram air vs. non ram air, and carburetor (Holley vs. Rochester). The best site for information is http://429mustangcougarinfo.50megs.com/information_2.htm With the specifics about the movie car (429 C code non ram-air auto) and perhaps a reluctance from a cost standpoint to make the different parts just for the movie car version under the hood might explain the compromises. One would only know if they were part of the process but I believe enough information was available but the final decisions should not detract from the fact that this kit and the additional variations surely to come will be welcome.
  12. It would be wise too as between the Boss 351 and this kit the parts and basically there already and with some decals and perhaps the under hood ram air plenum (if it fits) that would ensure a lot more sales.
  13. Saw this one today at the American Muscle Car museum.
  14. You are spot on with the review. The Ram-air and twist locks and hood paint were part of a package and were available as an option. A standard Mach1 with the 429 C code CJ engine like the Bond movie car is correct as far as the kit goes. As I mentioned in another thread the move Mach1 had an automatic C6 tranny and did not have a rear spoiler. Because so many restored 71-73 Mach1 had added the ram-air and hood paint and Magnum 500 wheels and spoilers and side stripes and 71 only quick release gas cap. I am guilty of added stripes, spoilers, gas cap, dual exhaust, rear anti-sway bar, and Magnum 500 wheels on my 1:1 1972 Mach1 that came originally with a 351C 2bbl with ram-air option, hood paint and twist locks and single exhaust. 😉 As you mentioned you can build a cool 429 with ram-air etc and change the wheels and add spoilers and have a very cool model that is to your liking. You are so right about the AMT and MPC kits with the wrong engines and exhaust systems and all the other under hood details that are lacking. The Revell tooling upped the game and it will be really hard to go back and finish all those 50 year old mold based kits that somehow keep hitting the shelves. Perhaps AMT should go back to offering them as a pro stock drag race kit like instead of trying to pass they off as a stock Mustang sportsroof or Mach1. The least Round2 could do is put the correct factory 73 Mach1 decals in the old MPC kit that was reissued a few years ago and redo the hood to get rid of the cowl vents. Perhaps if Revell does a combo Eleanor and stock 73 Mach1 kit with both hoods (standard and NACA) and maybe a 351 CJ engine with valve covers from the Revell 69 Boss 302 kit that would put the Round2 ones on the permanently retired list.
  15. The new Revell 007 kit? It’s only been out a week or two. The AMT rehashed Round2 kit has been out about a year.
  16. Brand new tooling. 1000% better than the Old AMT and MPC kits that have been reissued dozens of times.
  17. Got a pretty good start on this Revell of Germany kit. I plan to make a few changes to make it more like the movie car.
  18. That is a 73 Mach1. Keith Marks and Rays kit makes the silver decals for a 73 Mach1. The Rays kits decals are shown. The glare was making it tough to get a picture. You can either use the MPC kit which has the 73 grille and bumper or combine those parts with the much superior Revell kit. The Revell Boss 351 kit has a very nice Cleveland engine but for a stock 351 CJ you would have to source some stock 351C valve covers.
  19. The Boss kit has the hockey stick stripes same as the Mach1 (in black) but not the Mach1 hood decal/template as the Bond car was a non ram-air car hence the lack of the hood twist locks and black or silver hood paint scheme. Oddly enough all the 71-72 Mach1’s had the stripe decal on the back of the car in either black or silver. The side stripes were optional.
  20. Have to agree those front and rear fenders are hideous. Looks like it is next to some nice cars too. I have seen a good amount of stock and tastefully modified Panteras in South Florida.
  21. Very nice build. My 2nd car was a 69 GTS 440 Magnum Dart with an automatic shift on the column. That was almost 50 years ago.😮
  22. Very nice. I wonder if the reissue will drop the $200 asking prices of the vintage kits. I’ll buy one just to get the fresh stock 70 body to build a Mach1 351 or 428 using parts from some glue bombs I have.
  23. They sold the kit so what do they care. It’s one reason I always buy glue bombs of rare kit when I can because collector prices for sealed or unbuilt kits can be ridiculous.
  24. Amazing work with all the changes you did to make it more realistic. I guess the company sees these as not a typical model where the builder will just assemble what is shipped each month and would not notice the lack of parts we take for granted in large scale kits from Japan. The larger the scale the more noticeable things we know should be there that are not included. It seems like the marketing and overall look and ease of assembly was the priority and they did not seem to have any problem selling them.

It looks like it was freshly built. Nice work restoring it for your friend.
