  1. The 69 Mustangs with dual exhaust used the transverse muffler with the resonators.
  2. Bargain price when they were new and comparable to many supercars.
  3. Nothing that I have seen yet but with #D printing hopefully someone will do a complete body and the wheels. Ditto for the 03/04 Cobras and Saleens.
  4. Excellent build and that color really pops.
  5. An interesting story of how B-17’s were used long after WWII. https://www.arctictoday.com/details-of-a-cold-war-cia-mission-in-the-arctic-ocean-show-how-much-the-region-has-changed/?wallit_nosession=1
  6. I may have responded before>. I took the flight on Nine-O-Nine about ten years ago. I have a bunch of pictures and videos of the flight on my old PC but found this one on my IPAD that I took at the airport in Maryland. RIP to the the souls that were lost in the accident in 2019.
  7. Looking fantastic. I have the fold down seat option in my 72 Mach1. Here’s some pictures of the rear seat of another sportsroof I found online that shows the fold down seat area with the chrome latch parts.
  8. Excellent work and certainly a one-of-one with the color change.
  9. Just saw this auction end. I thought when it was around $90 that was crazy but the final bid was mind blowing given the poor condition of the built up. Not sure if anyone cared if it was an original owner model. 😃
  10. The trickiest part is getting the trunk size and shape correct on the convertible and of course the flatter profile from the doors back, making a boot and/or top and revising the rear seat area. Revell did this with the 69 Shelby GT500 fastback mold so it’s possible but I would not hold my breath on a 71-73 convertible version anytime soon. I hope I’m wrong. I would not lose any sleep if either the AMT or MPC was forever converted to a convertible as long as they at least fixed the MPC hood and included options to build a 72 or 73 with the different grilles and bumpers but that’s a complete fantasy.
  11. Duplicolor. You probably cannot find this color code anymore.
  12. Finally got some paint on the body. Next step to mask off most of the body to paint the black and the hood.
  13. Spot on as always Tim. If the 69/70 Revell molds were still around I’m sure they would sell some “new” based on the nostalgia factor and that unlike kits that have been reissued a dozen times and must still sell or else they would end up in the clearance aisle we have not seen these on the Five and Dime stores in over 50 years. I was lucky enough to buy two “builder” ones at swap meets but personally I would not pay the current collector prices because as you said the kits are typical of the era and expecting a dead on accurate kit mass procured that sold for $2 at the time was unrealistic. However, IF they were ever revived I would pick up one of each just to see how it could be improved with some engine compartment and chassis upgrades. Of course if all new tooling were made or even a modified reworking of the Boss 302/Mach1 molds I would be first in line to buy a convertible version as long it was not molded in the retro green plastic. 😆 Can’t wait to see what Revell has up their sleves.
  14. Very nice. Years ago I built a 1/43 resin J car and also the MPC clear body one.
  15. I found a few pictures up the underside of a 8 time MCA gold winning Boss 351. Pretty to look at but a shame it will probably not see any miles on the road.
  16. https://www.mecum.com/lots/359607/1971-ford-mustang-boss-351-fastback/ The Calypso Coral really pops. https://www.motortrend.com/events/1702-a-boss-351-invitational/?galleryimageid=1f95f21d-96b4-4068-b54f-8fc512728a0f I do like the Special order Gold Glamour color too. 😃
  17. That’s a good question - whether the Mach1 kit will have the chrome bumper as an “extra part” from the Boss 351 parts tree. If you do not end up using any of the engine parts from either kit I would gladly trade you for them for whatever parts I have that you may need. Keith Marks, AMT. Fred Cady and Rays Kits have all made the hood decals for the 71-73 Mach1s. The Revell 007 version was not a “ram air” car based on the one used in the movie so it did not have the blacked out hood but I hope they include the hood decals anyway.
  18. Amazing attention to detail high lighting the potential for going above and beyond adding the wiring, vacuum hoses, pvc hose, and battery cable. Looking forward to the interior and your completed build. The “stock” wheels and trim ring and hub caps are a nice touch too.
  19. Very nice build. Interesting that Italeri sold the molds to Testors only a year later or perhaps just bought the branding rights. Have the kit ever been reissued since 1988?
  20. I’’ll agree with you with regard to the thickness of the turn-signal lever. I’ll assume it was a compromise to take into account the fragility of the part if it was to exact scale. Not sure if I have seen an other kit with a turn signal lever and it’s one part that would probably be better suited to a metal part which of course is not typical for an all plastic kit. The full scale part seems to be about the diameter of a pencil and has a tapered end as seen in this picture. It would be a challenge to thin the kit part to a more scale realistic size as it is molded to the steering column without it breaking off.
  21. You’re probably right on that one. At least there is a tv/movie connection unlike the Fonz Dreamride Monkeemobile that I do not recall ever seeing in the Happy Days tv show. 😉
  22. Welcome back to the hobby. The AMT will be good practice. You will appreciate the efforts Revell make in the engine compartment and chassis once you see how basic the AMT kit is in those areas. Oddly enough I have built my share of AMT and MPC 71-73 Mustangs but never one of my Mach1. The “Boss 351” is NOT the Revell one and I did not even bother with an engine or to finish the kit when I heard the Revell one was coming out. Many years ago I did build the Otaki kit (no engine) and it goes well with the Fujumi garage (excuse the mess) and a Bandai 1/28 Mach1. Here are other builds including a Testors made into a “Mad Max” Mustang and a Sam Auxier 71 Prostock racer. If you see that kit unbuilt you would understand trying to build it box stock would not result in an accurate 71 Mustang. Still on the bench is a Warren Tope 73 T/A racer and of course the Revell Boss 351.
  23. Welcome back to car modeling and I recognized your name but did not make the connection at first. I never really stopped and have managed to collect far more than I have built in the last 40 years. When I started collecting diecast there were very few 71-73 Mustangs and the amount you can buy now is crazy. Not a bad thing.
