69 Boss 302 decals
vamach1 replied to Ralph Henderson's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
My bad you are correct Fred did sheet #42 which has the white stripes that are hard to see in this picture. Pattosplace. Com in Australia does a very nice sheet of the decals you need. -

1964-66 Shelby Daytona Coupe

You’re right - you gotta know the right people. ? Historic Racing Miniatures (HRM) is Harold (Brad) Bradford - a one man operation (with his wife) who makes some of the best resin full kits and resin parts for Ferrari’s, Cobra’s, Porsches, etc. Since he has no website or catalog for years it was either you met him at a show or found out through a friend etc. He does not sell on Ebay either and does not take PayPal. However, modelbuilderswh.com does have some of his products but the demand is such that it’s hard to keep them in stock. Model Factory Hiro is based in Japan and they have a Daytona Coupe kit which is at least $300 (on Ebay) and I do not know whether it is worth the extra $$ over the HRM kit. There is also ScaleMotorsports which I do not know much about other than it’s a resin kit and may be out of production. I’m sure Gramps46 knows a little more about each kit but the HRM kit has never disappointed anyone that I know that has built or seen one. -

Uh oh. If you want to go big you can always get the HRM kit by contacting Brad directly. Here’s the parts list. It’s less than half of a MFH kit and made in the USA (Laurel Maryland). -

Try Shapeways - there are a lot of large scale 3D parts on there for sale. -
Dashboard gauges - a few questions
vamach1 replied to bh1701's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Gramps46 suggests using a nail clipper to get a smooth cut if you are not greasy with small scissors. It may take several cuts but it makes sense as at least the cutting will be uniform. I’m not sure how you would hold the very last piece as the gauge decals can get pretty small and end up in the carpet monster if you’re not careful. -
Thanks for the info. The price looks right and the MENG kit does not look impressive to spend $400. The KA detail sets were costing almost twice as much as the Trumpeter kit so I suppose if someone does not have the Trumpeter kit it may make sense to buy the MENG kit but either way it’s not cheap to build a nice detailed authentic MKII in that scale.

Hard to say what to compare it too. Perhaps a Fujumi since it is a curbside kit but the frame is pretty unique. It was pretty much the only game in town until some of the resin casters starting making better kits. They were probably retail about $50 thirty years ago and I’d buy another one at a fair price but if you see one for less than $100 you do not get many chances to buy one anymore. -
Superb attention to detail. ?

You cannot win them all. I already built the Gunze kit and just was not willing to go much higher than $100 with shipping. There are still a few kits I have my eye on that are more that I do not have. -
Two fantastic builds. Bravo.

I actually put in a bid one one of them but was outbid. I’ve received resin kits from Europe with no problem before and pretty quickly despite all the issues this year with COVID. Two of the kits set me back a lot more than the Gunze kit would have but I have already built one and I have the HRM and Lindberg ones to build anyway. -
Revell Shelby Cobra 427 S/C: Gumball Rally Movie Car

? Very nice build and a cool old movie. I built one years ago and it could be a twin (same color and sidepipes). A cool conversion would be to make a Supersnake with the twin Paxton super chargers and the hood with the massive scoop. -

I have bought 1/43 Minilite wheels from an Ebay seller in the UK before. -

Please do not take us the way of Social media. I’d rather have five suggestions, critiques, and meaningful information about a build or WIP than just 100 likes without any comments. ? -

I really like it. The tires and wheels look great as does the Boss 302 engine from the Eliminator kit. Very nice Randy. I have a few of these just for the engines and other parts but just maybe I will build a 428 powered Cougar at some point.

Very nice build. The TRX wheels and tires just never caught on though - not sure what Ford was thinking. Snakes goes for the SVO but at least they are collectible now and were just about 30 years ahead of their time.

Since the Gunze kit was made in 1986 and pretty rare you’ll have to pay at least $100 for one. The Lindberg kit is a toy and the other resin kits if you can find one for sale are pretty expensive ($185) and up so there are very few alternatives which is why modelers for decades have been hoping for a new mass produced kit (even a curbside) be made by Revell of Fujumi that would the modeler on a budget would build several (perhaps replicate the six original ones). -

I’ll ask even though I suspect the answer is yes - are those some of the decals from the VRM Cobra sheet that is still coming soon?? -
???? I see some great potential here after the mold lines are sanded off.
