  1. It’s looking more to me like the MPC kit (again) with the incorrect “vents” near the back of the hood among other things. WHY???????????????????????? The decals and tires could make it worthwhile with a 40% coupon but I had hoped for some more improvements. I guess that’s 2020 in a nutshell - high hopes and a letdown but hopefully Revell is still working on the Boss 351 kit for late next year.
  2. Thanks for the compliment. It would be nice if it at least came with the correct 71-72 urethane front bumper. Sadly looking at the preview of the 1/18 scale 007 Mach1 diecast still has those goofy rear bumper guards which I almost never see on any show quality Mustang since they are just plain ugly and were only on the 1973’s anyway. I’m guessing it does not have a 429 CJ engine either just like the kit won’t. ?
  3. Search for Gerry Chevalier on here or Ebay. He makes a resin body to be used with the Revell chassis.
  4. Not sure if the completed build was posted in under glass? So it seems most of the metal parts are for the engine but I’ve seen this kit for almost ten times what the Monogram all plastic version sells for unbuilt. So does anyone think the price premium is worth that much at today’s collector prices or is the Mad Mike engine a good substitute for a fraction of the cost? Any other all resin kit I have seen of a 427 Cobra are over $200.
  5. Hard to tell from the scree shot I took but aside from the grille and decals I do not see anything new. If the builder wants to pretend it’s a 351C instead of a correct 429CJ with a C6 automatic when the kit has the 428 engine from the old 68 Mustang kit with a four speed and the exhaust from the 69 Mustang kit that fine. I suppose on the plus side why pay collector prices for an “original” 71 Mustang kit when this one will basically be the same with better tires and decals.
  6. I wish they molded that kit in white or even green (like the 2nd one Ford made) but you seem to have managed to cover the red with enough primer and white to do a very cool paint scheme. Very nice build.
  7. I saw that one. EBAY needs to limit how long an item is listed if the price is ten time the “normal” amount.
  8. Thanks for posting. These are some great tips.
  9. It’s funny how many models I built as as child ended up battle damaged as most ended up being set on fire or blown up with firecrackers. ? NIce work on the Enterprises. I did buy the Apollo moon landing set at Hobby Lobby but it is the only “space” kit I have bought in a very very long time. Us old timers remember the Saturn rocket takeoffs and watched many moon landings on little televisions. Those were some exciting times when a lot of science fiction was a glimpse of the future. I would still like to be beamed up to my destination instead of getting on a crowded shuttle or airplane. ?

  11. Very nice and raw Dan Gurney decals are a nice touch.
  12. Can 2020 get any worse. RIP 007.
  13. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1ftcbdXFPx4 What I rode in six years ago.
  14. They all look nice and the grabber green one is a great color for that car. A buddy of mine had a 70 Torino Cobra and that car was heavy but it sure was fun to drive.
  15. There’s not a whole lot else out there except for the ancient IMC kit and the old Aurora kit but I did pull the trigger on one of these Lemans Miniatures kits this spring. The nice thing is they sell some of the parts separately such as the decals and wheels. I’m not sure if the LS kit from Japan was based on the COX slotcar. The prices on these old slot cars seem crazy to me but I guess nostalgia is expensive these days. Your project looks like a nice alternative to the limited choices out there. I’m sure Gramps46 aka Gary will chime in with a few comments and pictures of his similar project many years ago.
  16. I mentioned a few kits that are available ( DDP and a transkit) or were at one time (CMA and Starter and 1/87 LM ones) so feel free to ask questions.
  17. Somehow you keep cranking out the kits and we all learn something from your experiences. Not sure if you can raise the front suspension to fix the hood figment - it look like those carbs or something else is causing the problem. Nice job and keep them coming. I hear you are working on a very large Mach1 which of course I’ll be watching that one.
  18. Thanks guys. I have a few unbuilt ones I have been buying lately so I can add a few more to the collection.
  19. Have a good trip. ?
  20. Very nice rendition of a kit many of us would like to see done in plastic I ended up buying the DDP kit which was over $200. I was not overly impressed with it given that the chassis is no more detailed than a 1990’s 1/43 starter kit and like the Fujimi kits no engine of course. Sadly there are not any realistic options out there but you found a way I plan to use the Fujimi chassis For the DDP kit similar to how CMA Years ago did a conversion kit for the Sebring winner and there’s a more recent conversion kit of sorts out there for the Fujimi kit but it requires chopping up the Fujimi body a lot. Fujimi got a lot of mileage out of the MKI and MKII bodies and you would think they would have done a roadster version by now but I guess that is no surprise given the Revell knock off kits were not completely accurate to do the 66 Daytona MKII So there’s much incentive if you can sell kits based upon the box art. Alas the aftermarket came to the rescue once again to do the Miles Daytona winner but I think this is the reason I gravitated to 1/43 kits in the 1990’s because there were so few decent 1/24 or 1/25 GT40 kits that were worth the money. I’ll post pictures of some of the kits I mentioned in a follow up post. For now imagine if all these were in 1/24 and had engines.
  21. Some time ago I bought a gluebomb of an original AMT body that I primered and put away and forgot about as I put it in another lit box. I have reunited it with the box I bought separately and it appears I have all the parts to actually build a stock Mach1 or GT without paying a small fortune for an original kit.
  22. Very impressive Steve. Definitely more realistic looking than the actor in the rubber suit I tried to replicate. ?
  23. I wish I could say I have but not lately. Suffering from too many projects and still working some and trying to enjoy outdoors until it gets cold. I almost feel like I need to set aside time every weekday once I retire in a few months To building. I have too many kits that I started and I just need to finish a few before diving into a build that will take a lot longer than usual. I admire you efforts on your build and will learn a thing or two I’m sure.
  24. Josh, Welcome back after 10 years. Your “New” build shows you have not lost a step and Cobraman, AFX, Gramps46, Dave B, 65slotcar and many others will enjoy seeing what you build next.
  25. I like it. ?
