  1. I can get you the auxilleries and brackets, but the cabs arent ready yet. Theres just a few more flaws that I want to get right. Its been a long time comin, and I want it to be perfect.
  2. Yes sir, gotta chain down the train. Im getting them from Ben Wicker along with chain binders, glad hands, and a PTO. Ok, The Huskys out of the pen! Look out!
  3. It looks great. I dont know much about fire apparatus, but its still a truck and I can appreciate the scratchwork. Ill be following this.
  4. Clayton, you can get most whatever you need from Walthers.com. Just go to scratchbuilding supplies. Styrene, chains, mesh, you name it.
  5. Ha! Yeah, I try to work on it every day. Its my " Sgt. Peppers". The windshield, like most of the rest of it will be scratch built.(Im sure Ill get glue on it) P.S. Its a shame that thread got locked, I was enjoying that.
  6. Ive been keeping this under wraps until the casting were ready, but I have to kick it into high gear to finish this for a show in Sept. I have been working in this cab on and off for a decade. I have been working on the chassis since earlier this year. I have been working on casting this, and the re-mould has yielded much better results. This started as an Autocar dumper chassis with a Hendrickson walking beam. Im using tires that Ive resin cast and quickly realized that they were too large to use with that set up. I scratch built my own spring and hangers using the beams from DM mixer kit. This chassis has worn many cabs and tonight, finally got its own. The winch is resin from AITM. The tanks, tires, cab, battery boxes, and aux trans are all resin by me. The bumper, grill guard, rear susp, headache rack, lowboy ramps, rear bumper, spring hangers, oscillating 5th wheel, and after tonight, winch cradle, are all scratch built. The truck will be pulling a fictional 5axle beam trailer with a 3 axle jeep hauling a train locomotive. I havd a photo of a Mack DM hauling a locomotive, so Im taking it overboard. Its been thru many changes and rebuilds. Ok, so heres the story.....
  7. Thanks Clayton.Ive always dreaded scratching wrecker equipment bc it can seem overwhelming. Or maybe its bc I know once I do it, thats all Im going to build from here on out:) Im just taking this one a day at a time.
  8. This came out great Sam. Great job on the mud. Very authentic
  9. Well if this helps, I would imagine that the 9000 has a huge doghouse in the cab. Thats the only way they can run that short of a hood. I remember riding in trucks like that as a kid and the doghouse was almost as big as a cabover. I remember an old dodge that was easier to work on from inside the cab than with the hood open.
  10. That was all of the info that my book had. I looked online, and all of the 9000s I found with Detroits were 8V71 @ 318 hsp. I even found the thread to the one you built in 2011 on Hanks truck forum!
  11. Clean rig. Just my style. Good fitment on the hood as well. Great job
  12. Tom, what are your plans for the wet line ? Are you using the tank from the trailer kit behind the cab, or an extra frame mounted side tank? Someone needs to make a square diamond plate behind the cab tank and chrome it. Ill get around to it one day. Just curious
  13. Hey guys, does anyone have a few empty truck model boxes that they dont want? The older the better, but anything will work. I will either buy them, or trade parts or something like that. Thanks in advance.
  14. Heres what I found 1966 was the introduction of the 4000 & 9000 series available with fiberglass tilt hood or steel butterfly hood with fiberglass swing out fenders. Gasoline power from 186 to 250 horsepower(White Mustang) Cummins Diesels from 160 to 335 horse, Detroit Diesel from 195 to 318 horse. The XRL series ( extra reliabilty & longevity) was available with Cummins NHC-250, NHCT-270, and NTC-335. Tranmissions include 10, 13, and 15 spd road rangers and 16 spd Spicers. Thats all I was able to find. Looks like you cant go wrong with a Diamond Reo, Road Boss, or Western Star donor.
  15. I put some orange on the KW frame and the white basecoat on the cab. I also started on a 2nd Pete 359. Its a junk rebuilder that I picked up. Im rebuilding the chassis, and grabbed a fresh cab from one of my new Cali Haulers. The whole truck will be powder blue.
