  1. Clayton, in the pic showing the unit on the tire, could it be you have the front end upside down? Looks like the tie rod should be below the front axle, or at least below the frame. Also, that "key" looking part, I'm sure that's for the steering, that should be below the frame I would imagine. As for the motor, mock up the direct drive unit to the rear axle, and place the motor up to the trans/driveshaft unit. This should dictate where the motor should sit in the frame. Whatcha' think?   2. Hi Jesse, What all of the guys are posting here makes sense, and we all have it, especially as age progresses. One thing though, you're going to have to snap out of it. Life is a bear, and burdens grow out of hand. Discipline! You should close your eyes and pick out one project you have on the bench. Get the silly thing finished without doing anything else. Pick a smaller-type job. Do it! Get it done and out of you're sight. You have no time to sit around and moan and groan. Get off your butt and get the job done. Get the lead out dude! I guarantee you'll get things cleared up, and you'll be able to sort things out that are important to you. Michael
  3. Randy, I see it the same way. This can be an informative forum when you ask outright about something specific. I just asked about blower restraints, Ace recommended something so I went looking. January 1992 they were mandatory for Fuel Altereds and Dragsters. This doesn't mean the Rule started then, but it's a start. Michael
  4. I have a problem with the white walls too. They are off in my opinion. The tinting on the windshield is a bit too much. When, then greenish instead of blueish. That was the norm back then. Under the hood is incorrect, firewall was not body color. GM was black under the hood. Gotta love Mopars! Color is cooooool. The model is cleanly built and stands nicely, the trim is correct and the paint is done nicely. Interesting interior paint scheme, it's different. I do think the shifter is mounted backwards though.   8. 10:4! We have Duplicolor paints here. But I've tried primers for styrene, then H of K....catastrophe, just like you wrote. I'll get the real 1:1 and give it a whirl. Thanks for the quick reply! Michael
  9. Hi Jim, great looking Olds! Great paint too. May I ask what primer you use with H of K paints? I have lots of their products, but can't find a decent primer for usage. A little bit of filling material in the primer would not be a problem. What do you use? I'm in Europe, so name brands will not apply here. What is the stuff made of? What is it specifically? A primer for plastics? A real world 1:1 metal primer? Can you help me? Michael
  10. I find lots of info right here on this forum. Google is cool too. One thing I haven't found out though is; When did it become mandatory to have blower restraint belts applied on drag cars? I even Googled it. But I like asking questions to the guys that post pics of things I like to see on models. They always answer me. Thanks guys! Michael

  14. Hahaha, "the floor monster". I have one of those too, the sucker hides under the bench and wins most of the time. Jim, I'm going to try this stuff. My shop has hex rods in metal too. I'm lucky to get my nuts and bolts in metric sizes. It's much easier to figure out. 1mm equals approx. 1inch. So lots of things can be done on a 1:25 model with 0.6 to 0.8mm nuts and bolts. Even though I'll use mostly 0.8mm as the o.6 are so tiny they're only seen in closeup pic. I just ordered 50 pieces, all in 0.8mm. If I go to the trouble of mounting them, I want to see them too. By the way, for lug nuts I have 0.9mm, like almost an inch in 1:1. They still look too small! Just a FYI, don't worry about the super small ones, they are very tiny! Michael

  16. Randy, this unit is just a thrill to look at! I try to figure out how it's even possible to do but just give up and say it's magic. Really, really sweet modeling there, along with the rest of car as well. Magnificent. I think we all enjoy having a peek not even understanding how it's done.   18. As a kid we had a neighbor across the street, he was kind of a wild-type character. He had this car in baby blue! Swivel seats and a record player under the dash. Crazy!

  22. My opinion, these cars look fat and overweight. They are fat and overweight. Harry P got it right, that was really a nice car back then, the predecessor even better. What happened? These cars nowadays are heavy sleds that are just not worth the cash in my opinion. Cheap interiors too. Come on America, get with the program! Get at least a little bit modern then sell lots of cars and let American economy grow. I really don't think it costs a lot more to make an American car attractive to foreign markets, but the interiors have to be upgraded. More efficient motors too. America, we can do it. Just do it.   23. That was a nice little car back then, with a 340 pretty snappy too. The notchback too was rare and completely underrated in my opinion. I wish I had one today. Cool car and your model is looking good. A 383 would be really neat, what a rare piece! Golden value. Michael
  24. Agreed, why aren't there more kits from these cars from the 30's? I'd love to build all of them. Chevy, Plymouth, Dodge or Ford. Who cares, give us some hot rods to build! Michael
