Hi Niko, Good that you're back to the bench with this model. Enough goofing off now, get on with it! LOL. Good too that you know how to move a brush, that makes it very cool. Michael

I agree with Ace, a new 34 Ford that looks right would be very nice. The 38 Model shown by Rob Hall looks excellent too. Better yet, make the 36, 37 and 40 Fords that are out there available, I'd be happy enough for now. I've been trying off and on for more than a year to get any of these models for a decent price. In Europe I can get one for about $50....no way. I haven't been able to get a decent 34 either. I love to build hot rods too. Michael

I only care to build cars in 1:25 as this is the way I started early 60's. I've restarted doing these after decades and I like it. Ships are a different scale and a different world. I've been building wooden historic ship models for decades, some are 16" long, some are 48" long. The model is what interests me. I feel nowadays since I'm a bit older, that if I build a car in 1:16 or larger, the thing has to have all the nuts and bolts, and these should be good looking and in proper scale. I've spent years building old sailing ships, and they are fairly correct in scale and detailing. Rigging these old tubs has become so tedious that I'd rather build scratch cars in 1:25. I want them to be fairly correct in scale, with nice features done in metal to enhance the styrene kits. I have no interest in building perfect 1:25 scale model cars. I do appreciate and I love to view well done models in any scale. Michael

OK Luis, thanks for the info. I'll check in when you post progress. Michael

Hi Ludwig, the BMF work looks very good and the car appears to be making excellent progress.
-
This is a very fine looking model, paint and BMF work is fantastic, super clean and under the hood is excellent. I never cared much for those kind of wheels, but I think they look very good on this car. I'm considering some similar for a future build. Really an outstanding model.

Luis, are you building the engine from the kit? 3 deuces seem right, does the kit have this engine? Michael

Hello Luis, it's good that you're back to building. I like 36 Fords so I'm real interested in what you're doing. Have fun. Michael

That's a good color on that car! Are Rallye Wheels going on the car? Nice looking job so far. Michael

Hi Ron, I keep coming back to have a peek and everything fits together just right. The parts all match wonderfully, everywhere the scale seems really spot on. Take for instance the valve cover work. I can see in one of the pics the bolts you used to fasten them to the heads, and the spark plug boots and the wires look great. What size (maybe in mm?) did you use for the wires and for some of the nuts and bolts? Also, could you give some insight about the plug boots, like what material? Would you have any pics of the build itself? I really like what you've shown here and every area shows what can be done and gives me great incentive to expand my possibilities and maybe I could apply a few things piece by piece, step for step. I see with the motor I'm working on that even small aftermarket parts or small parts done in metal can really change the appearance of an engine, be it small bolts or wires, or something metal looking can be a boost as well. These are things that I like to see, and do. Thanks for showing. Michael -

Hello Ray, welcome to the forum. Your signature is so correct. Are those your words? Michael

Hi Tim, So, whatcha gonna do? I really liked the 66-67 GM muscle cars, they had lots of nice appointments, and when ordered with the better interior packages they were very nice cars. I had lots of time with a 66 GTO and a 67 Chevelle from a couple of buddies. I remember now about the chrome trim and with the Rallye wheels the fender wells looked great. Good quality cars, pretty quick and fun to drive too! Whatever you decide to do, don't forget to add the chrome trim! LOL. Michael

Hi Ron, Congrats on a wonderful scratch build, the motor really kicks butt and the Lenco is killer. Very cool build with exceptional detailing. Michael -
OK, I can follow you. So, what I see is a clean build with a clean body, no chrome extras other than the hood ornament. Bumpers and trim is all correct, windows too. Nothing in the middle other than the the window trim to be seen, and this is above the middle line. Either the rockers, or the fender strips. Tough decision. The wheel wells could use a touch because the wheels are so cool. Tough call. Michael
-
Hi Tim, super clean build and the Rallye wheels look great. What was on the rockers anyway? A single chrome strip would be OK on your model, my opinion. What did the real car have? i have to say too, even though it's a GM car, the body color under the hood looks real good and gives some light for details there. There are some very nice details there and more visible now. Good idea. I'm a Mopar guy and that's why I like body color under the hood. Very nice detailing too underneath! PS: As I'm writing I remember now something. Didn't this car have chrome trim around the fenderwells? That would maybe be something to ponder, and if so it may really enhance this clean build. Michael

Wow, you guys do nice models! -
I'm happy with the deal. I have no need for a larger capacity disk, the 120gb is more than enough for me. I am interested though in a USB 3.0 upgrade. As I understand I can do this easily using the installed card reader. I'm just not sure if the transfer rate is as quick as an installed USB 3.0 port, which the notebook does not have. Some of the Dell docking stations have a USB 3.0 port, some don't. I'll know more when I get the thing delivered.
-
In the meantime I've done lots of research, more than I originally intended. A simple upgrade for an old notebook just isn't worth it. I'll mothball the thing and keep it for times of need. I bought a used Dell e5520 with a Core i5, 8GB ram, 128 SSD and a full software Win7 64bit package already installed. I need Excel, so the basic Office progs are there, I save some cash this way. The thing is visually flawless, has a docking station and I'm happy about the deal. $325 with a 1 year guarantee since it's from a dealer. I like the full keyboard too since I use the number block a lot. I think this unit will be good for a couple of years and is probably even quicker than my current desktop PC. I'm cleaning up my act a bit, the old PC is getting mothballed too, my desk is getting some much needed room and hopefully my computer hardware woes will come to an end for a while. Michael
