Great photo. Thank you for the info.

John, that's sick! I love it! Do you have more pics of this beauty?

Hi John, I was thrilled too to see those tilted Bantams from the Awful Altered website. I've seen tubs on the Fiats, but none on the Bantam cars. Well, except for my model. I'll be attaching them to the body so they'll lift off when the body tilts back. Did the underside of the rear end get messy with burnt rubber particles? How were the cars kept clean underneath? Also, the floor pan, did your car have the pan inside the frame, or was it hung from underneath? Did your feet have any extra support or was the aluminum pan all that your feet rested on? Yet another question, if your car didn't have any tubs, was there debris flying into the car from the track, or from the spinning slicks? I hope you don't mind me hitting you with this trivia, but we don't have many guys who would know this info and I think it's really interesting, and that I can make my model more accurate as well. Michael

Old Coyote John, thanks for the info! Your cheat was well carried out. Those pics too are fabulous, I like the lean and low look of the Bantams you're showing. Another question please: I know from internet searching that some teams made the car so the body would tilt back. On these tilted cars, would the aluminum tubs be attached to the body so they would lift up too, or was this just an option while building the car? How was this handled most of the time? Tubs mounted on the side panels/frame or tubs mounted on the body? Michael

Guys, the folks who made the laptop have ram and a cpu that fits the existing mainboard, so nothing else will be changed/replaced. I think an increase in ram capacity, and an upgraded Athlon type cpu will be quicker than the puny Sempron in there now. I've been assured also the installed heat sink will work fine too.

Sir, your models are very cleanly built and I always enjoy viewing them. I love the topic here also. Question: The 1st model, the beautiful injected Bantam shows a cockpit cover that fits very snugly around the top of the body. I have an Altered car that I'm currently building with a resin body but the cover fits poorly and hangs all over the edges of the body and rocks around like a dingy in a offshore storm. Your Bantam body appears to be a resin piece as well, did you have fitment issues? If so, could you give some insight how you solved the problem? Also the fasteners you used look are very convincing, are they rivets? Thanks for any reply, and also thanks for showing some of your models again. They are a joy to view! Michael

I've gotten a bit further with plans now. I can get new ram from the folks that built the thing, the mainboard has 2 slots and an upgrade to 2GB would help. It has old DDR Ram, single channel. A Turion CPU will pick up the speed a bit as well, I can get one for cheap from eBay, it'll fit just fine. So, this should pick up performance a bit and I'd be good with it. As Tom wrote, just some surfing and emails, it's a good backup machine.

Guys, the motor looks like it could start up! Tim, the cleaned up joints look really fine. I like too the way the whole frame has a soft, golden hue. Very clean work and I always enjoy looking, the detail and pride you put into your work is always a reminder on how and where I can upgrade my assemblies. These pics help me a lot! Michael -
Yeah, no snooker table on board either.

Hi Andy, exactly. I saw on eBay CPU's for this old biscuit can be had for $10, just no bundles. I haven't a clue what I'd need for hardware for a decent upgrade. A shame that a good working machine will have to be sidelined. I'm even timid about opening the thing for a looky.

Good point about a possible misunderstanding. I've had issues with the 2 piece slicks cracking along the sidewalls, like Don originally mentioned. Just above the rim of the wheel and along the circumference, not running to the footprint area. Cracking around the wheel in a circular pattern. I figured the wheel fit too tightly and caused the mishap. Don, can you chime in?

Tim, I can see now the bars climb! Fantastic work. Happy Easter. Michael -
Thanks guys, I have the feeling the best thing to do is get a newer piece. I only use the thing as a backup PC, meaning not very often. I can keep it because it still works. I hope newer stuff will at least seem to be more responsive. I'm familiar with OCi'ng from back in the old days, and benchmarking, so i have an idea of what a relatively quick PC is like. But this old turd is a cramp, and drives me nuts. I'll look into a refurbished and freshened up laptop, or notebook. No need for me to buy anything new though. I'm just getting over revamping my home PC and I'm hardwared out. Thanks for the replies.

Help needed. Hi guys, Anyone have experience with upgrading Laptops? I have one from '06 that is just too slow. I know how to put together PC's but no experience with laptops. It's an AMD 754 platform, with Sempron 3300, less than 1GB Ram. Can I just get an Athlon or Turion CPU, mainboard and Ram bundle and exchange the hardware? Thanks in advance for any tips on how at best to proceed, Michael

I have some that split too. Revell Funny Car 2 pc. slicks. I only glued them at the seam, the wheels haven't been cemented yet. They split as soon as I placed a resin wheel in them. I'll still use them though, I'm the only one that knows exactly where the split is located. Also, as mentioned when sanded the seams look OK.

Hi guys, Tim, I hope you don't mind me butting in here. Just a bit of info here. I've been using micro motors, or hand engines or whatever you'd like to call them for decades. I bought recently for home use a unit from Proxxon, you can dial the speeds from 5k to 20k, has a foot pedal and I just looked on eBay USA, a whopping $35! The thing is fantastic! Lightweight, burs change easily and it has good torque. You cannot stop it spinning with your fingers. I can highly recommend this thing. The guys in Europe are nuts about Proxxon equipment. Hi Frank, after a day or so, unscrew the top of the container you keep the paint in, can you hear the gas come out? Then re-close and shake the bottle, does it still pop open? If not, I'd say it's ready. -

Hi Tim, now there is some delicate soldering technique. Is the rack, or bottom of the box for a battery? Are the "smaller X bars" crossing through the thicker tube? Excellent detailing. -
Hi Mark, I remember going back to a wooden historical sailing ship that I'd let go for better things to do. After looking at the notes I'd made and the small plans left on the build sheets, I thought the time was right. What a time! I thoroughly enjoyed going back in time and finishing a really fine model. I had to do a bit of reading and searching for the info I'd gathered from back then, and I can tell you it was a good experience. The ship is my avatar pic. Scratch built with authentic rigging from back in the day, 1776. The model is 30" long and I enjoy seeing the model every time I enter my study. Going back and finishing up is a good thing in my opinion. Greetings, Michael

Hi Tim, Excellent! These updates are really fun to view. What I like too is the fact that that these excellent sub-assemblies are so well photographed. Recently I did another search for clear pics of 4 link setups and I found some explicit drawings. Better though, is viewing your pics. Your detailing shows all anyone needs to see, it's all there. In 1:25. Question: Will you build the body so it can be tilted for displaying, maybe just the front end? Also, when the time comes for the final assembly, do you treat the threads and bolts with anything to help tighten them, or to keep them tight? I've had issues through manipulation of some nuts loosening up while building in other areas. Michael -

Excellent craftsmanship. The model really looks like the real thing, just amazing. The rubber hose with the clamps are a hit. I just don't get tired of viewing the progress. Michael -
Well I heard that a couple of guys wrote the color and that the funky side pipes suck. Revell was then not sure which way to go, hence the removal.

Hi Dave, Thanks for showing the wheel comparison! What a difference, this is what I was expecting. The rear wheel is just fantastic! Michael
