70.5 Baldwin Motion Camaro Finally Finished!
10thumbs replied to microwheel's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Jim, just excellent work your doing here. What a difference detailing makes! Michael -
Hi Greg, it's good that you're back to building this car. Does the top come with the kit? What finish do you have on it? It looks very good. Michael

Henry J Twin Turbo - Didn't see that coming..........
10thumbs replied to Codi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
What a wonderful model! Jim, good idea if you're not covering up the motor, put couple drops of gasoline on it so it would smell and everyone will think it will fire up! Guys, even his tweezers are cool looking! Michael -
Charlie Smith's Plain Vanilla 25T A/Altered from 1964

Gerald, what a great model! Very clean and well prepared. I like that A/C car too! Could that car be done with the Double Dragster Kit and the AMT 25T Parts Pak? Hmm, this may be an upcoming build for me to do. Thanks guys for the inspiration. Michael -
Back From The Dead.... Anglia Street Roddin'

With all that room up front, how about a motor plate instead of some crummy usual type stubs? Michael -
Hi Snake45, Well I think the car is just fine! I like old school builds and this one fits perfectly in my opinion. Please forget the white wall tires, I think they really suck, and ruin anything that was initially intended. Maybe on a real car, way back when, but with a choice, I say dump those buggers. They don't look cool on models. You're showing a shiny Halibrand rear end, but the shocks are completely black. I would suggest some shiny looking stuff if the pieces/parts are visible, just not not "chrome" from the tree. I've gathered from a lot of your forum entries that you are an enthusiastic type guy, I like this. I think too that you don't take my criticism as offensive. I love Altereds and Hot Rods, lets do 'em! Michael

Hi Michael, this is looking interesting. By the way, I received the parts that I ordered. The parts are fantastic! Many thanks. 4 link and ladder bar braces, tabs and a few other things. I'll be back! Michael

Weber Manifold for 427?
10thumbs replied to Quick GMC's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hi guys, It's been awhile for this topic, I have kind of an update. I'm building the AMT chopped 33 Willys, just changing the frame and suspension to get it a lot lower and the slicks inside of the fenders. The model has the SOHC motor, but with a blower which I don't want. I like Hilborn injection. The Revell/Monogram 427 Ford Parts Pack, 2 x 4 manifold does not fit the SOHC all that well. I have a Ross Gibson injected 426 Hemi that I've changed around so the manifold fits the SOHC motor. Here's a pic after making the thing fit; I split it down the middle and moved the halves outwards up against the heads, then added 0.6mm to the base. Here it is cloned and done up in Alclad2 aluminum; I think if you have a possibility to do some easier type resin or cloning however, a Weber setup could be done with such a manifold. I like Weber setups. Michael -
Hi Brad, I don't know much about these cars, but I do like the framework and the availablity of PE parts and other stuff for these models. I'll be watching too and looking forward to seeing some cool suspension work. Thanks for posting. Michael

Hi Ray, Nice paintjob! Were the Weber carbs with the kit? I like the car. Michael

Hello Axel, since you've been building models since 1970, you surely have the right age for some good judgement and some good acquired skills. I'm looking forward to your participation here. Michael

Those are big slicks! I don't know which look better, I'd have to see the them mounted. I do like the wheel colors. What did you do for the gold look for the spokes? Uhh, I'm kind of an older type guy. WTF are canards? Michael PS: I have a fairly good knowledge about a few things, please don't tell me to do an interent search.

Back From The Dead.... Anglia Street Roddin'
10thumbs replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I have this model in the cabinet waiting too, but I'm having trouble with the size of the hinges on the doors. I'm thinking about just gluing everyting shut and painting the green away. I agree that a dark color would look good. Stan, maybe the dog was communicating and you weren't listening. You know, I was building a wooden tall ship quite a few years back, and a little puppy we just adopted had found the rudder and bit into the thing with those sharp, needle-like puppy teeth. 18 years later the doggy died and I found the rudder piece in the box with the rests I'd saved. I see this rudder every day since as I've placed the piece on the wall with the other ships and other small membrances. Miles, do anything, but the green has to go! Michael -
Elmers, OK. I remember the stuff. About the same as I use now, dries in about 30 min. when diluted. I just have to learn to wait so long. Thanks. Michael

Hi Brad, hey....it's me again with them questions. What adhesive material do you guys use for mocking up? I've had trouble with my last two models (well my first 2 since the mid 70's), and I got into serious trouble with fitting issues. Please don't tell me brand names (I'm in Europe) just what the stuff is that works. I tried today with my new project a quick drying wood glue that I diluted with water. I used to use this method with securing tackle on all of my wooden tall ship models. So, what would you recommend? PS: I'm watching every one of yours moves, so don't flub up! lol. I like the progress. Michael

Color is a hard thing to decipher. Do you mean the rear axle assembly, or the whole thing. That green sucks though. Either way. Don't worry about one side hanging down a bit, if it's too tough to fix now, grind the hubs of the wheels and glue the ship out of them. Me and snafu are buddies. Michael -
Hi Jack, Nice clean build, the car kind of looks familiar. How did the body fit on the frame? Mine was a pita untill I was able to make it sit evenly. Also, did the motor fit OK? I had to change mounts and firewall for the Cadillac motor. I like the idea of the Olds motor in there, looks right! Michael

Grüß dich. Ebenfalls RM. Michael

Michael Jackson....lol Man, handling the silly small cars after so many years is for me a major problem....hence, 10thumbs. I get glue and paint everywhere! It is getting better though with my 2nd model nowadays. Michael

Jason, exactly. There are so many of these Willys shown, and they all look alike, for the most part OOTB. Good that you go your own way and do something different. Absolutely the way to go. I like it! Michael

Hi Gerald, You have indeed made an update! I've been thinking of doing the Dodge Chargers, so I've acquired several Lindberg 64's for the task. I remember as a kid being nuts about these cars, but there was never enough info about them anywhere. Thanks to internet I've gotten a bit of info and a few of the rare pics. I never even saw the real colors of the cars until recently. Thanks for posting and for your efforts. Very nicely done! Michael

Joe, I like the way this is progressing as I have similar builds for the future. Guys, I like too the stories behind the scene. I remember well the Match Race Circuit '65, especially Sox and Martin vs. Don Nicholson. I watched them twice in my area, and it went way into the night. Both times 2:2. Sox won both events. I like too, that lots of dudes my age are right here. Thanks. Michael

Yes I understand, but what is the number on the bottle? Bottom right on the label? PT02? Is the label green or red? Michael
