A.C., that is one very nice looking Falcon! A real cool race car too, back in the day. I always liked Falcon A/FX cars. OK, where did you get the Hilborn manifold for a SOHC engine? Adapted from another kit or did it come with this Falcon kit? I have one for a 426 Hemi from Comp Resins, nice piece. It almost fits the Revell 427 Ford motor, and with just a little filler it would work. I have a SOHC motor that I would like to have a Hilborn setup for it? What did you do? Very nice model! Michael

Right, the tires on your model look like the ones in the last pic. Good stuff. Michael -
Well, if you don't mind me adding to your language dissertation, you might want for the future to not start sentences with a conjunction. Although not inherently wrong, it is at best a poor choice of wording. This tip might help you with your attempts to clean up forum grammar. "And ACCURACY is part of what it takes to accomplish that." A somewhat well known rule in the language biz. Michael

I'm with James on this. Lots of guys here write everything in lower case letters. Is it correct? I'm on non-US forums as well, and my use of foreign languages is good, but not 100%. No one cares. Getting the thought over is what counts, and expressing yourself in a manner that can be understood is important. Michael

9 Inch Slicks--What Are They Good For?
10thumbs replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I think for mid 60's you could get away with it. I just looked at some pics I have as reference material, and it seems those slicks were on injected Fiats and Anglia Gassers. I'm not too interested in other Gasser models, so I don't know. I don't have many pics of earlier altereds either. Bottom line, I think they'll work. Michael -

Hi Jesse, I think the car looks good, and I like the front tires, are they 1:24? The tires on models seem appear to be often too small. I know 2 tone paint jobs are tough, you got 3 on there and did a fine job. Michael -
Pics? Where are the pics? Old models vs. newer models. Michael

Tom, Rob and Curtis, it works! I had for my first car model in almost 40 years big time problems with dust particles on my otherwise fairly good paint jobs. It was driving me nuts and had become really discouraging. Air Brush was new to me at the time, and I figured after countless efforts, the two or three dust particles in the room environment at the time I wanted to paint, were going to land on the roof and the trunk of my Color Me Gone Dodge! Mind you, these were not puny small pollen flakes of some obscure budding tree somewhere out there, but real hard-azzed tough little particles that were a pain to remove. Solution on there, blew off the excess, and it was like a paint job out of a 1:1 booth! It works. My ongoing build, a 32 Ford has 12 coats of paint on it, no dust particles whatsoever! Michael

The ratio is 8:2. 80%. 8 parts water and 2 parts alcohol. I use denatured alcohol and distilled water. Gently rub the surface with a big soft brush doused in the solution. Dry it of, compressed air is OK. Since I do this, I have ZERO dust particles in my paint. This tip was from our member jwrass, engineer, custom painter, and Fuel Altered pilot! Michael PS: The "static charges" are from manipulation of the surface area, rubbing and such things. This may not be a static charge as such. Experts will have to chime in here. The surface area needs to be neutralized so that the paint will not attract particles. The solution does neutralize the surface. Guaranteed.

The prime time film last night was "Braveheart". I watched it again! Good idea getting kids out to vote! Here in Germany, national and local elections get only around a 50-60% turnout. Michael

I'll certainly be watching this. I can't really say that separating is a good idea though. This may stress both economies beyond a reasonable amount. But the idea is admirable. Michael

I agree with Patrick, the drive train looks real good. Michael

By the way, how are the split, 2 piece slicks supposed to be put together? Michael

Double Dragster Fiat Chassis Observation

Interesting. I have the feeling lots of stuff is interchangeable. I checked out four early Revell F/C kits, 3 are identical, even the parts numbers, and the 4th is just a bit different. Good info when looking to do some altereds in the near future. Michael -
I like seeing stuff like this. I'd like to keep an eye on this one. Michael

Hi Jim, I try to be careful with criticism, but I agree with Harry. The red top bites a bit. I think that the light purple though is a bit wimpy. I can't say what may be better because I like the modern day convertible covers in black, but I don't know how to decently replicate the finish. Michael

What happened with the paint job? We would like to hear about failures too. We all have them, good thing is when they can be repaired. Michael

Weber Manifold for 427?
10thumbs replied to Quick GMC's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I found out something interesting today. I have a Hilborn manifold from Comp Resins, for a 426 Hemi. I have the short block built already. I have a Revell Parts Pak 427 Ford (the FE one), short block built already too. The Comp Resin Hilborn manifold fits the 427 Ford pretty close! Maybe about a 0,5mm space to each valve cover !! Not much at all! The manifold is too wide for the Hemi motor! I don't know which Hemi it is, but it is a big and wide motor, from the kit is was a cross ram, a 2x4 setup, or a single carb option. The motor is bigger (wider) than a Lindberg 64 Dodge Hemi motor. The Hilborn manifold is very close to one that would use 4 Webers. I thought this was interesting. Michael -
Modelhaus Kits, Rookie Question..

I understand that smaller type business folks can't have a large inventory. No problem. When I order stuff from US shops, usually about 2 weeks before it gets to my door here in Germany. Then Customs, another week and another 19%, then I can finally open up and do a looky. I ordered yesterday from ModelRoundup a small item, $13. Shipping total was then $39, then the Customs here another 19%. So, I thought well order some more small stuff, the total shipping only jumped $3. Sounds like a deal. But still way too much for shipping. Really, the stuff fits in a small air pocket envelope! But on the other hand, I can get a new Audi real cheap over here. Life is great. Michael -
