  1. Thats a great little team. Looks fantastic. Love the period look. I really like how you yellowed some of the tailer white walls. It is too bad they can't reissue this one. I have an old Ford one that I cut up in my youth. Wasn't much there to start with, but I wish I had a dodge. Hope to see it in person some time, Mike
  2. Pretty slick. Nice concept & execution. So whats under the hood?
  3. That turned out great. It really does look better just one color & nothing fancy. I'm glad to see it done. Love the purple wires. Mike
  4. You can also try Summit's catalog. They have pics of a lot of their gauges you can save & print to get the scale you need. Once you find the right size, you may want to use glossy photo paper. Mike

Thats sharp. I think I remember seeing this started somewhere. Glad to see it done. Turned out great. Mike
  6. I know the tires are an issue. We haven't really talked about them too much, but I did tell him that I thought tires should be included. As far as the licencing, While we were disscussing this, a top dog from Billet Specialties walked by, stopped and talked pretty buddy buddy to him. He already does a lot of workfor all of them, hence how he has so many styles in 3D on his computer. Plus the way we are looking at doing it would also make them a little different from the real ones. The tires will be a seperate issue. We still have to get together and talk more about the wheels, and how to be most cost effective. Thanks for everyones input. It's not far from what I was thinking. Mike
  7. I haven't been around much the past couple of weeks between work and the local Goodguys show. Anyways, I was talking with a friend who does 3D renderings, who just happened to have a similar idea as I have had for a while now. Since he has almost all wheels from several wheel manufacturers, he wondered what kind of demand there would be for accurate, true to scale, replicas of real life wheels. It is just in the planning stages now, I am just trying to see how much, if any intrest there would be for a product like this, along with an idea of how much you would pay for them. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike
  8. Very nice & clean (as usual). This will be killer when it's done. Keep us posted. Mike
  9. Very nice. I really like the color combo. You are just a deuce turning machine. Great job. Mike
  10. Just thought I would jump in and say great job also. Very clean. definately don't see this one very often. Mike
  11. I don't see why it wouldn't be art. Nice job. There are a few others who chop pics. I still do mine by hand. I like the flames on the Camaro. Mike
  12. Very nice! Looks very period correct. Can't wait to see it in person. Those decals are killer.
  13. I just saw this on thier site from someone who works/worked there. The Coddington Garage Closes their Doors One Coddington company closes as another plans to move June 16th, 2008--- La Habra, Ca Boyd Coddington Hot Rods will be closing their doors, Friday June 20th, 2008. After the untimely death of their founder, Boyd Coddington in February, the Coddington Garage team and family tried to continue on with business as usual. The battle they faced was too much to handle. After Boyd’s passing, his wife Jo took over the business. She had rather large shoes to fill in the absence of her husband. With the team of machinists, fabricators, and paint and body guys behind her, she gave it a shot. Unfortunately, running both the hot rod shop and the wheel shop was too much for her handle on her own. The cars and builds that are not complete at the time of closing will be moved to two new shops. Both shops are being run by former Boyd Coddington employees. Dan Sobieski, a fabricator and long time Coddington employee, will be opening his own shop July 1st. Sobieski will be taking a few from the Boyd Coddington team to his new shop in Anaheim, Ca. Abraham Rodriguez, a newer employee, will also be working on some of the vehicles at his shop. His specialty is in paint and body, but his shop will be able to do anything the Coddington Garage did. Jo will continue on with the wheel shop. There are plans for the company to move from their location in La Habra in the near future. For further information please contact Jo Coddington at boydsgarage@aol.com. Here is the link... http://boydforum.repspark.com/ShowThread.aspx?ID=3233
  14. I think the idea goes all the way back to covered wagons. Weren't those metal frames wrapped in canvas? Any way, great job stretching (sorry, no pun intended) technology. I do think some of the remarks at the bottom are funny, especially about the hood opening.
  15. For something quick, I grab a can of black primer, red oxide primer, gray primer, silver (I used to use dull alluminum, but have ran out) and dull and gloss coat. I usually start with a good coat of the gray primer and let it dry. If everything looks good, I give a second coat and while it is still wet (being wet is important) I give it a good coat of silver all over. While that is still wet, I then hit it with light mist coats of the black, red and silver alternating between them to get the desired look. When I am happy with it, I'll shoot it all with dull coat, then sometimes (depending on how old it is supposed to be) spray some gloss on the ends. I usually use more red & black up front where it is more rusty. Then after it is dry, I'll go back and add some black wash to some areas. I try not to use chrome too much, especially on headers. When I do, Like ledsled mentioned, I use some transparent colors to give them that blue look. It sounds more complicated than it is. The exhaust below took less than 2 minutes with the spray and maybe 5 minutes detailing with a brush after it was dry.
  16. Wow. Very nice & clean build. Great color.
  17. Good start. Keep going. You never know what it may lead to. I am amazed at how much better every drawing still gets. Thanks for posting.
  18. Nice & clean. Very nice job. I keep thinking about getting one of those, then I think of the two sheets of BM I'll need!

I just love this one. You have done an excellent job on both this one and the Mustang II you did. Great job. Love seeing the pics. Thanks for sharing.
