ATTENTION DATE CHANGE FOR CKM SUMMER CLASSIC
mikemodeler replied to VW93's topic in Contests and Shows
I've been saving my lunch money for this show, but not sure how much I really "need". I did order some kits from Wes's Model Car Corner that I will pick up from Wes. Always a good show, looking forward to seeing the models on display. -
I stopped in the HL in Kenosha Wisconsin today to find that they have the same selection of kits as the HL stores in NC!

Beware of Cris@upscale hobbies

Not for nothing but your post is hard to read and follow along as to what happened. I have bought from Chris before without issues, maybe I was lucky? -
Moebius Dually rears & other bitz now available
mikemodeler replied to Erik Solie's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Neat stuff! Nice to see a company realize there is a market for their parts and offer them up to us modelers. Might want to consider doing that with the upcoming wrecker bed if you can. -
Sounds like you have your priorities in the right place, enjoy those girls and make memories with them, you won't regret it. Enjoy and check back in here, show us your latest creation and have fun!

My wallet is safe this month from these releases. Now if only the 2021 Bronco would hit the stores..........

I recently placed an order with Joseph and he said it would be about two weeks for order processing.

Modelbuilders as a group like to be resourceful and at times can be cheap. Some will look thru dollar store toys for wheel and tire sets to use in their builds, others will dig through boxes of tires and wheels at model car swap meets looking for sets. Don't be ashamed if you have to raise your prices for it to make sense to offer items. Anyone who has walked an aisle in a grocery store knows that things are more expensive these days and speaking for myself, I don't expect businesses to survive if they are not making money. You have brought some nice stuff to the market and us modelers should be grateful for it. If we expect you or any other supplier to be around, we should be prepared to support the community.

Well, welcome to the hobby now that you have more time to devote to it. As you can imagine, life will interrupt build time- family, work, other hobbies, seasons, health, etc- so finishing a build takes dedication and focus. Speaking for myself, I am great at getting a kit 70% or so built and then get distracted by something else. Add in the constant barrage of new stuff in our hobby and the endless ability to find so much stuff a couple of mouse clicks away and it's easy to get sidetracked. As many have said, build for yourself and personal enjoyment, try to build the next one a bit better than the last one and remember, it's only a hobby.

Check with Bandit Resins, he had one, not sure if he still does. Southern Motorsports Hobbies has one too.

Spartanburg IPMS "The Forbidden Contest"
mikemodeler replied to TarheelRick's topic in Contests and Shows
What are the details on this show, I might make the short trip down to Spartanburg! -
I got my order today from Wes's Model Car Corner that included the new C3500. Overall not a bad looking kit and should build up nicely. I do appreciate the two sets of wheels in the kit, although there's only one set of tires. I compared this new kit to the old kit and I saw a big difference in the wheels and tires between the two kits. The old kit had smooth wheels to slide the tires over, allowing one to use different tires if they had them. The new kit has "nubs" on the wheels and the supplied tires are hollow and therefore fit on the wheels better. I tried to slide a set of tires I have in the stash from Scenes Unlimited on the new kit wheels and the nubs on the wheels gave the tires a squared off look. I am sure some sanding will fix that problem. I also noticed that the new kit tires are squared off with no sidewall bulge or detail, as compared to the old kit. It will be interesting to see what the aftermarket guys do to give us some options for this kit- tool boxes, wheels and tires, grilles, etc- because I can see some variations of this kit.

Wish round 2 would release some obscure stuff
mikemodeler replied to jeffp60's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Seems like many of the kits we yearn for have been modified into other releases and therefore not likely to return. Not sure if Round2 could justify tooling new bodies for limited interest kits like the 74-76 Ventura. I would love to see them bring back the 74-77 Camaros but there are two different bodies- 74 & 75-77- so who knows. They have shown us that restoring old tools can be done, even if they have to slap Coca-Cola decals in the box! -
Fireball Modelworks
mikemodeler replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Joseph posted an update today................... https://fireballmodels.info/ It's good news, he has added some new items and still offering his F-250 conversion kits. He has expanded his off road tire and wheel offering and has some more Mopar wheels and wheel covers! -
Not sure, but it won't be those tired old Desert Dogs! I have a selection of tires from Fireball, Scenes Unlimited and some I snagged off eBay recently from Jayzresinwheels that just might be the right look.
-
I might be interested in trading off those bumpers and the tires as I won't be using them in my build. PM with what you have for trade.

Check with forum member George Bojaciuk here as he carries a lot of Wylde's stuff and may have what you need in stock and save you some $$ on Canadian shipping costs. George usually responds quickly to PMs here, nice guy with great service! And Dan's comments on Wylde's quality is spot on, I have some GM Truck grilles and Chevelle conversion pieces, excellent renditions!

Is Modelhaus finished?
mikemodeler replied to Mike C.'s topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Chris runs that website pretty well and my experience has been if he doesn't have inventory for something on his website, you won't be able to order it until he does. This saves him the hassle of having orders piled up and people asking "Where's my order?????". It being summertime he could be on vacation, have other issues to deal with or is busy casting and reloading his inventory. As Ace mentioned, jumping to conclusions serves no good purpose. -

I had a company car for 5 years when I was caught up in a downsizing. I needed a car and luckily found a job that was about 4 miles from home so I was looking for a cheap car that could also hold my kids (2 & 6 at the time). A friend had a 90 Olds Custom Cruiser wagon that had been owned by a floral shop and was used for deliveries for 10 years. It looked nice but later found out why they got rid of it- bad carb! After a month of owning it I noticed I was getting about 8 miles to the gallon. At first I thought someone was siphoning gas out of it but a trip to the local repair shop confirmed what I feared- an expensive repair! Luckily I found another job that provided a company car and I was able to off load it onto some unsuspecting soul. Only vehicle I have owned that I would consider a bad vehicle in 42 years of car ownership!
