  1. There's been a 2 story McDonald's in Washington DC for at least the last 40 years or longer. I remember passing it on the way into the city when I was a kid on our way to the Smithsonian museums. As a kid, I always wanted to stop, but it wasn't the best neighborhood for a young, naive country boy and my dad kept driving. I'm not sure if it's still there or not. Jeff
  2. I'll just click and paste my answer from the other thread. Only change is I sold my beloved 1957 Chevy back in April to put a downpayment on a house. I should change my name to Sadgoose now, lol. Jeff When I first got into slot car drag racing, I would email my new friend Tom Bagly, who owns Wheatfield Raceway, and would always sign off as Jeff "the Mongoose" Herrman, as I was a fan of the late Tom McEwen. Well, he jokingly shortened it to "Goose" and here I am today. I always figured I resemble a pudgy waterfowl more than a svelte weasel anyway, so I kept the nickname. I've used it in one form or another for most of my hot rod and internet life. I still think some people in the CPMCC club and slot car world only know me by my nickname and not my real name, so there it is, lol. As for the 1957 part, I own a real 57 Chevy and use it's pic for my avatar. Good topic, always like to hear the backstory. Jeff "Goose" Herrman
  3. Just picked mine up on Saturday. ?.Heres what's in the box. It's a straight re-issue of the original. It's molded in yellow plastic, but not quite the same as the original. My original kit is buried too deep in the stash to do a side by side comparison right now. The decal sheet is "expanded " by including new license plates, but more importantly, gage and emblem decals, a nice touch. I wish they would have included more stripe options though. The interior tub and frame are one piece. The tires are still the Goodyear 3/4 ones with the hollow backs. You need to glue the back sidewall/brake drums to the tires. They do seem to be molded in a softer type of vinyl than the originals. It's great to see this kit re-issued, even with it's shortcomings and lack of detail. It's quite amazing that it was even modeled at all, especially since more popular SUV's (cough...Jeep Cherokee...cough )have not. It's still one of my favorites and I'm glad to see it come back. Thanks Round2 Jeff
  4. Really a great looking rig. Nice job. Jeff
  5. That's pretty neat, have no idea what kind of truck it is, but I'd buy one. Jeff
  6. Great to hear. One of my projects is a 73 Scout with a 6 cylinder in it. Just trying to fab up or wait to see if anybody was going to do an early grill for them. Thanks for the info. Jeff
  7. +1 for sure. I remember that thread, but can't remember who said they were going to cast them in resin. I'd buy several sets also. Jeff
  8. Great news! Lining up with checkbook in hand....... Jeff
  9. Nice Scout. Great workmanship and paint. The wood bed looks terrific. What engine did you put under the hood? Looks like an LS. Nice choice for an updated corn harvester. Jeff
  10. Great job. Looks like a great puller. I built all of the puller and monster truck kits when I was young too. Your's inspires me to build some more. Nice work. Jeff
  11. Dang, I used to have that book in my collection. Haven't seen it in a while, might still be in the pile in the basement. Not sure if that's the same one or not, but the leather cover with the embossing looks the same if memory serves me correct. It is an awesome book for period photos. Now I'm going to have to go digging. Jeff
  12. I saw an old roots style supercharger case which held a carburetor inside instead of the rotors. Looked like it was factory made, not some hobbled up backyard creation. I guess you would then put an injector hat on top to complete the disguise. I thought it was pretty cool. You wouldn't have the power of a blown engine, but then, you wouldn't have the expense of a full working blower, nor need the beefed up engine or drivetrain to go with it. A poor mans blown engine look I guess. I saw it at the York PA streetrod show flea market years ago. Wish I would have bought it. Jeff
  13. Great looking rig. Looks just right for a weekend in the mountains. I thought about doing one of these conversions too someday. I'm glad you proved it could be done. Really cool build. Jeff
  14. Cool Bronco. A whole lotta custom work went into that. Just right for the trail. Jeff
  15. Good looking Brat. I like the color choice. The engine bay looks great. Jeff
  16. Great looking trucks. The color looks just right. Jeff
  17. Great looking Jeep. That blue really snaps out. Looks too good to take on the trail. But with all of that extra gear you built into it, I wouldn't be afraid to take it wheelin on the trail. Nice job. Jeff
  18. Very nice build. Sometimes its more fun building from glue bombs and parts box parts then from virgin kits. Your Jeep looks great. Nice combo of parts. Hmm, wonder what I can build from my Jeep box?? Jeff
  19. As I replied in your semi truck thread, just beautiful! Love all of your Scouts! What hubcaps did you use for the stock Scout with the roof rack? I'm trying to find something close for a build of my Scout in it's early days. They look very close to the factory hubcaps. Very nice. If I ever get around to my car hauler project, I'm going to add a scratch built top for the SS version, as I believe they would have been delivered that way. But still, every Scout you built looks like a show winner. Congratulations, well done. Jeff
  20. AAARRRRRGGGGHHHH! You beat me to it! I was working on the same thing. Only, I'm still in the gathering of kits phase. Wow, that looks amazing! Great job on this build. I love the window stickers. Beautiful. Now, I don't know if I'm motivated to get my build going, or depressed someone else was thinking the same way as me, but beat me to it. I'm glad you finished yours, I'll probably take 5 years to finish mine, lol. Jeff
  21. YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! I've been waiting for Round2 to reissue the stock offerings for tooooooo long now, especially with the vintage style box art. Looks like I'll have to order a case now. Gotta have a few for some projects I've been dreaming up. Would love to see the style of stripes in decal form that my Scout came with from the factory. I've never seen this style offered in model form before. Time to make a model of my Scout when it was factory fresh. Now, just need to find some hubcaps that look close to the stock ones. Jeff
  22. Great Jeep build. Those flotation devices look suspiciously like fuel cans from nascar kits, lol. Very realistic detail you built into it. You took a bland kit and made it very cool. Jeff
  23. That turned out great. Beautiful paint and color choice. The stance looks just right. Great detail work. Jeff
  24. Wow that came out great! I was following your wip thread and hoping it turned out good. You hit a home run with it. Looks like a Jeep I'd like to drive in real life. Great build, Jeff
  25. Great looking Jeep. Looks just like the real one. What a great gift. Jeff
