I've heard of using hay or straw but around here people use peat moss, a little topsoil or some other purpose made covering. Just saw a yard in my neighborhood where the owner put down fresh grass seed with nothing covering it. Not a good idea.

Oil refinery fire near Los Angeles. Glad to read no one was hurt but this will be another excuse to keep the gas prices high on the west coast. We've been paying over $4.00 a gallon for quite some time. The excuses for that are laughable but then again it's really not funny.

Had two pieces of mail included with mine for two different houses on my loop. I put them by their front doors. Nice work mail person! I often wonder what if you didn't get a jury summons or something else important because it went to the wrong address and that person didn't put out the effort to get it to you?

Man, I feel for you when you said you got stung several times before you knew what was happening. That sucks. Strange thing the last couple of years that I haven't seen much in the way of yellow jackets around here and I'm fine with that. Haven't seen the mud dauber wasps either. I don't mind them as they aren't aggressive but they kind of make a mess. Hate spiders but I leave them alone in my yard. In the house, they get killed. My house!

Isn't that a little dangerous adding oil to a hot pan? If I'm using oil or butter, I put it in and then slowly heat the pan. Then I add whatever I'm cooking when it's all hot.

The mornings are cold in the low 40's then low 70's by late afternoon. Fall is here but I'm still wearing shorts. Gonna have to bring out the long pants soon.

When I was a kid we had a neighbor one street over from us that used to let out their flock a couple of times a day. You'd see then circling around for awhile. As a kid I just wasn't able to grasp what was going on but it was fun to watch.

I've always said how much we're able to communicate with our dogs and vice versa but we still aren't able to explain things to them. Example being this. If only you could explain the situation like you would when dropping a kid off somewhere it would make things so much better.

I was surprised to get mine so soon but was disappointed not having the usual model reviews at the back of the issue.

One vet told me she just did this surgery on a Corgi and it was a piece of grass stuck in there. How weird is that? Another vet a week ago told me he's done a couple of these surgeries in the last month and pulled out a foxtail burr. Damn dogs! LOL

Taking my dog in for foot surgery today. He's had a lump between his toes on the back foot and it's gotten worse over the past week or so. They think something is embedded in there. As much as this irks me, this morning is also an irk as he can't have any treats or breakfast. The stoppage of the usual routine can't be explained to a dog. He just looks at me as if I'm stupid for not following the rules.

Saw this the other day and wondered if anyone would comment on it. It's amazing how many songs these guys wrote that were hits; not only for others but some for themselves too.

My wife has always been good about letting me know when any bird stuff has landed on her car so I can clean it right away.
