I was thinking this exact thing. It would be a natural reaction to avoid hitting anything that suddenly appeared.

We've been lucky with our dogs when it comes to fireworks. Our Westies used to look out the window and bark at what they saw acting like they were excited and if to say "knock off all that noise". Otherwise they were fine with it. Our 2 rescue Terriers don't really care at all. But when a delivery truck comes down the street.......we'll have none of that!

I've tried peanut butter, dry dog food, and chicken with no results. Today I put a bit of canned dog food in a trap. Real frustrating when the rats aren't drawn to any of these things. I don't get it. They're rats. Thought they would eat anything.

The Banana Splits
TonyK replied to Dragline's topic in All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
Too bad about the quality of the figures but your work paid off. They look great. I remember watching them as a kid also and had a couple (or was it one?) 45's of their music. Thanks for the memories. -

Excellent! The figures, weathering, all the painting in general is fantastic! I'm a car model builder but always in awe of figure painters and other model types because of the talent they show in the finished models. -
Do you make notes/memory aids as you build?
TonyK replied to Mattblack's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I spend a ridiculous amount of time saving pictures from the Internet as reference during building. Engine colors, interior, decal location, etc. When I finish a model I have a log book where I write down the month finished, paint colors used on the body (I paint with cans) and any modifications done. The color of paint helps sometimes when I look back and think the particular color is what I want to use for a current build. -
Ford Bronco full 3d print
TonyK replied to stitchdup's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Your finished model looks great to me. Now that I've built a few 3d models I find good and bad things about them. The complete chassis can be a pain with detail painting but I like how it's already put together. I think your shocks look fine. -
Going to the farm store this morning to look for a different trap. The ones I have have worked well with mice and peanut butter has always been a sure thing for baiting them but the rats don't seem to want it. Strange. Guess I need to try different bait such as a little chicken? Poison is not what I wanted to use but you start to try anything to get them. Don't like poison and don't like having a critter wander off and die.....somewhere. A trap kills them right there and you can toss them in the garbage. The sticky thing might not work outdoors? I can see using it in a basement or garage but I still think a trap is best if it works. I have the issue with lots of squirrels in my yard so that is where I need to be careful. The rats run in and out of some thick ground cover so I've put the traps and poison trap in there and the squirrels don't seem to go into that area.

Still see the rat in our backyard and I've spotted 1 or 2 small ones now too. Don't know how to get rid of them. They ignore the Tomcat container with poison in it, they run right past the traps with peanut butter in them..... Trying to figure out what else I can stick in the bushes where they run in and out of. Guess another trip to the store to see what I can buy. As I'm writing this I saw one of the little ones accidently run into the trap and knocked it down the rock wall. <sigh>

Fantastic looking model and your paint job is perfect! -
Working on another 3d model car with the wheel diameter a bit too large to fit inside the tire. LOTS of tedious carving and sanding.

Northeast Dirt Modified decals?
TonyK replied to TonyK's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yes, Polecat decals have a lot to choose from. Not exactly what I need for the current paint schemes I'm looking for but I'll try and make something work. -
There are some unique race cars being made in 3d resin but none of them come with decals. I've searched many model sites for decals but mostly find the usual offerings for popular type racing series. Race cars such as super modifieds, midgets, and NE style dirt modifieds have some exciting graphics but I can't find anything close to it. Anyone able to help me out on this? Thanks in advance.

What's with the U.S.Post office these days?
TonyK replied to styromaniac's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Tracking shows my package is at the Lancaster PA distribution facility on Friday night. Claims I'll get it by Monday 9pm in Oregon. Somehow I don't think so. Not in any hurry to get it but I wonder how the projected delivery date is calculated. -
This past week we've had days in the 90's down to the 70's and sunny. The nights drop to 48-50. Once I start wearing shorts I don't go back to pants so the mornings are pretty cold when I take the dogs out.

Great looking model. Your color choice captures the era.

Very nice, clean built model. That interior is great!

He has given me years and years of pleasure listening to his music and I will continue to enjoy even though he is gone. Thanks so much Brian and the Beach Boys. Glad he made it to 82.

One of my little dogs found a dead mouse in the field on our walk today. I kicked at his mouth and kept telling him to drop it but he was having none of that. His solution was to swallow it whole. I freaked out and called the wife and told her to call the vet. When I got home she said to relax. The vet said he might get sick and puke and/or have diarrhea. Oh ok. oh heaven's to Betsy!?! She asked what if the mouse died from poisoning and they told her there probably wasn't enough to be a problem. Again, oh heaven's to Betsy!? And if nothing bad happens it still has to pass out my dogs butt. That's not a problem either? So I get to fret from now until this ordeal passes. Just got to hope things will be alright.

I worked with some Vietnam vets and they had lots of stories to tell. Seemed to be happy they survived it and didn't mind sharing their experiences. I learned a lot of "inside" views from them. One guy had been shot through the arm and a couple of fingers didn't work anymore. Got a disability check from the government every month.

Yep, that was the culprit for me one time.
