Haven't seen my buddy Steve for about a month. Steve turned out to be female but I wasn't changing the name. Been around for years and lately had what might be arthritis in the back legs because she had trouble getting around but could still climb the fence. Would come to the patio door and wait and when I'd come out she was at my feet wanting a nut and then ran to the upper backyard where I'd throw food for all the squirrels and birds. Sad, but guessing she's gone now. 😞 First picture is Steve and 2nd picture might be her "kid" because it comes to the door the same way and tries to stay at my feet but just a little too hyper and cautious.

A missing part in a model kit. Wasn't on the "tree" in the bag so I know I didn't lose it. Must've fallen off before even making it in the box. I'll reach out to Round 2 and see if they're willing to send the part. I got a reply from Round 2 and not happy about it. A long request form and must include a store receipt and UPC code. I would've purchased the kit online and it may have been a year ago so not gonna hunt down a receipt which I may or may not have. Also a copy of the UPC is not accepted so that means I need to download a form and send the UPC cut from the box. Then there was some more things to read and looked like shipping charges because I don't have a sales receipt, etc. Really?! It's not like I'm trying to scam anyone here. I bought a kit and there was a part missing. Could you take care of me as a customer of your product? In the last couple of years I can remember Revell and Salvino's sending me replacement parts that were damaged or missing without a hassle. I've got plenty of model kits to keep me busy and won't be buying any more Round 2 kits.

I like the reviews in the model magazines more than the Internet videos. Sadly, there aren't enough of them and lately I've seen reviews of kits that are long since unavailable.

That's very nice! -
What's with the U.S.Post office these days?

I get Motorsport magazine from the UK. Have had a subscription for so long I don't remember when I started it and the delivery had been just fine. For many months now I get the issues later and later. I'm lucky to get the current month in the current month. Example being this is August and I haven't got the August issue yet. Motorsport has told me they send the magazine out the same time that they always have so put the blame on the USPS. -
MPC Howmet TX Turbine Road Racer 1:25 scale
TonyK replied to ea0863's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
As a couple of comments have said, great job on a rare kit and I believe this is the first time I've seen one built. All your work paid off with a real nice model. -
I don't see them but the crickets this year are louder than I remember. Maybe more of them? Whatever the case, I enjoy hearing them at night.

Great car. Great model. -
I suppose this trend is sticking around?

Exactly! -
Great looking model. That paint job is excellent! Never understood why a model of this car is not available.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Every day I think how fortunate I am to still be able to do things like building models and such. Some of us may take these things for granted. When I read about someone like you, it's very sad and I just hope that things may get better at some point.

Actress Loni Anderson of "WKRP In Cincinnati" passes away at 79.
TonyK replied to John M.'s topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I liked her character in WKRP where she pretty much had the run of the place. As you pointed out, she wasn't a bimbo on the show. (Still liked Jan Smithers more) She was very funny in Stroker Ace. Maybe a bimbo in that but more just real naive. -
On the subject of blueberries......I don't like them. Never have. I like all berries except those. My wife loves them and gives the dogs a few every morning. I know most people like them and are always making things with blueberries in them so I'm the oddball I guess.

Wow, you've had quite a week!
-
What I can remember as an allowance was 15 or 25 cents a week. Long time ago and very young. The real money came when I was old enough to go berry pickin' in the summer and that was spent on models; and save a bunch to last through the year.

Great looking model and your outdoor photos almost convince it being the real car. -
My First Can of Bad Spray Paint
TonyK replied to Bill Anderson's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Brand new can of Testors white did some spitting yesterday. I can understand that happening with a used can but not brand new. I like to use Tamiya but didn't need a pristine paint job on this car so went with Testors. Disappointing. -
I was allergic to chocolate as a kid so butterscotch and caramel were my favorites and still are but I don't eat much candy anyway. Candy Corn was mentioned and I really like that.

The credit card statement that I never got showed up in the mail yesterday. The bill was due on the 24th. Good thing I'm on the ball and paid it online like I do every month. I've got a parking pass coming for the upcoming Indycar races. Sure hope that arrives on time! -
Typical Tamiya kit that goes together well. Tamiya TS-12 orange paint and decals that went on without any problems. Very enjoyable build.

This is from the Hydroplane Museum in Kent, WA. They offer many different choices with Allison or turbine engines. An interesting kit is the way I would describe it. The decals went on very well. The clear cockpit needs to be masked and painted to look correct and I decided to paint the entire wing assembly instead of using the decals provided.
