  1. I used to get it from Squadron Shop but they're now OOB. The first bottle lasted a couple decades, and there was actually plenty left but the bottle split. Couple years ago I ordered two more bottles from, I think, Sprue Bothers or someone else I got some airplane/military stuff from. You might try Megahobby or Tower Hobbies, too. If you can't find Superfilm anymore, the liquid decal film is PROBABLY the same thing, but I've never used it so couldn't so testify in a court of law.
  2. Got to sneak these into the house and give them a good look today. The '57 Chev seems to be started (interior painted, etc) but complete. I swiped the Daisy mags and tires out of it and I'm gonna give it back to the vendor next month and he can sell what's left to someone else--probably for the same $5. (He's been VERY good to me on prices on things over the years, don't mind doing him a favor.) The Road Runner is missing only tires. Started (engine and interior assembled and painted) but otherwise complete--would make a fun, quick Day 2 or street beater project, especially in primer. Deora seems to be complete and unmolested, all sprues still in the bags. The Willys panel van is a real mystery grab bag. Not only is there an extra coupe body, but an extra front end, the coupe trunk lid, and a second chassis and interior tub. Only one set of chrome sprues though, so only one set of suspension parts and so only one complete builder from the box. The entire SOHC engine is gone, but there are two mystery V8s here (assembled). And three (?) nice Goodyear vinyl slicks. And--most curiously--FIVE Goodyear "Suburbanite" off-road or snow tires (I've never seen these before). Looks like somebody had a couple interesting projects in mind when he lost interest.
  3. Jim, are you still looking for stock '57 wheel covers? I have a set from the Monogram 1/24. I can't guarantee they'll fit whatever 1/25 tires you plan to use, but they're yours if you want them.
  4. Somebody let us know if they have any other kits. I wouldn't drive across town for the Gremlin, VW, and '57 Ford if they were free. (I still haven't built the '57 Ford I bought in the '90s, and possibly never will. )
  5. My childhood dentist was very good, a very nice guy, and a personal friend of my parents (they'd gone to school together). But he had this way of going "mmmmm...mmmmmmm....tsk..tsk..mmmm" that made me feel like every cavity and every bit of plaque was my personal, deliberate fault. A real guilt-tripper. Apparently this sort of thing is VERY common because I have seen several TV commercials for dentists making a point of "no judgements" or "no blame" or "no shame" or some such thing.
  6. Is that a Hellcat? Not familiar enough with SA products to tell.
  7. Yes, but DO NOT trim the decals before you use whatever clear you use. It will seal the edges and make it almost impossible to get the decal off the backing. Don't ask me how I know this.
  8. This is the right answer. They also have a product called SUPERFILM, which is what I use. I don't know if they changed the name, have two different products, or have the same thing in two names, but SUPERFILM has always worked for me.
  9. Sorry. I'll keep that in mind. Or at least put spoiler alert on such posts. I only let slip three results. And only one of those was a real surprise.
  10. My honest reaction was, "Huh, who?" I didn't remember him even though he previously beat three "names." At any rate, Precious made quick work of him on a far-less-than-perfect pass. Good to see Tricia break her losing streak of doing stupid things. Maybe she'll have time to break into the Top 10 before it's over. Fun to watch Murder Nova run down Kye Kelly. I honestly didn't think MN would last this long at the top of the list, much less get as far as #3. I'm beginning to develop a dislike for Jason Cantu. Not sure why.
  11. Hopefully the covid-based ads will be dying a quick, unlamented death soon.
  12. No, that's only on the pay Discovery+ thing now. But many things from there eventually show up on the free channel, and I suspect this will too, sooner or later.
  13. Very cool! I just watched YOLT again last month. Well done and model on!
  14. Absolutely outstanding! You are making me want to build one of these, which is about the highest compliment I can pay! Well done and model on!
  15. I don't know about anyone else, but the first thing I always think when hydrogen is mentioned is "Oh, the humanity!" I wonder if other people have such a perception problem, too?
  16. I've been getting interested in building some of the cars of Jenkins, Sox, Landy, and Dyno Don between about 1965 and 1970, telling the story The Rise and Fall of FX and Super Stock and the Birth of Pro Stock. I've got the stuff to do DD's '65 Cyclone, Eliminator II, the '68 Mustang SS he ran (once) in '68, and have been trying to pick up a restorable builtup JoHan Pro Stock Maverick. Have been watching them over a year and they always go for more than I want to pay. So I decided to try to piece one together on my own. Last fall I scored a “distressed” promo with one missing A-pillar and very worn chrome for a reasonable price. Started looking for the PS hood and couldn't find one. My old swap buddy Khils came through with the proper scoop itself—good enough, I can work with that. Was gonna work with the stock interior but last month scored a complete PS interior on the Bay for a reasonable price, so saved a lot of work there. I figgered I'd go ahead and build it curbside, and maybe worry about an engine later, so next step was to find proper wheels and tires. And then last week good ol' Khils emails me again asking if I can lend him a stock Maverick interior so he can copy the side panels. Since I now have a full race interior, I told him he could just have the whole stock gut out of the promo. Apparently he's got a project going the other way—trying to make a stocker or stock-ish Maverick out of a PS glue bomb. So I ask him if he'd like to have the stock chassis, wheels, and tires too, and does he have any of the other PS parts. Turns out he has the complete PS chassis, wheels, tires, and engine and would be delighted to swap them to me for the promo rolling chassis. A swap make in Heaven! So now it looks like I've got everything I need to start the build. The plan is to build DD's first Maverick as it appeared very late in its life, at the beginning of the '71 season, in the overall red paint job. I have the Slixx decals. Looks like my next job will be to cut the hood out of the promo body, and then repair the missing A-pillar. No, this won't be anywhere near as good or as detailed as Mustang89's recent superb effort, but it will fill a slot on the shelf.
  17. Saw that one today for the first time. To me it looked like a ripoff of the old Geico "So simple even a caveman could do it." The caveman was funnier.
  18. Local toy show day. My favorite vendor didn't have any glue bombs, but did have a number of opened "pot luck" kits for $5 each. You had to look in the boxes to make sure you had enough to build something. I got a Monogram '57 Chevy (all I wanted it for was the 200-S "Daisy" mags, and they're there), Deora (seems to be complete), '68 Road Runner (missing only tires, apparently), and '33 Willys panel truck (there's an extra coupe body in the box, too, and seems to be at least two sets of tires). Easy $20 worth of fun there!
  19. Congratulations! I too know the pure joy of tracking down a rare, long-wanted book and buying it for an affordable price.
  20. Cool deal! Have you ever done a quick, simple glue bomb "rescue"? Looks like a good candidate for one.
  21. I kinda hope it's not another 405er. They have 5 of the 20 already. Dennis Bailey would give MSO 5. I strongly suspect it'll be someone from another part of the country--possibly Brent Self or someone from Black Sheep Mafia. That is exactly what happened. That's a better, more accurate report than 99% of the things I've read in newspapers over the last 50 years.
  22. Yes. That's what got him on my bad guy list. He should have been thrown out of NPK for the year (if not forever) right there for bad sportsmanship.
  23. I hope it's not Larry Larson. I've taken a dislike to him for some reason. I was kinda hoping Dennis Bailey, who did VERY well at Mega Cash Days. Whoever it is, they won't have enough time to make it into single digits.
  24. I think we're at the halfway point in this series now. Last week, brightest points for me were Chief beating Kye Kelly and Axman beating Chief--and both wins were entirely due to "chase is a race" rules, interestingly. Tricia gave away a win by chasing, and JJ broke. As we've known since the last 20 seconds of episode 1, Precious had to start over again at #20 in Heifer. And, as we've also known since that preview shot, Brandon put his Mustang on its roof. Two racers have moved from the top 10 to the bottom, and two have moved from the bottom 10 to the top. Biggest winner so far seems to be Chief, who's moved from #5 to #2. Biggest loser (apart of course from Brandon, who crashed at #17 and is now out completely) is Daddy Dave, who's dropped from 9 to 13. He's not having a good season. Here's where things stand, showing how many places everyone has risen or fallen since the list was initially set: 1. Axman +1 2 Big Chief +3 3. Kye Kelly -2 4. Murder Nova no change 5. Brian Chucky Davis +2 6. Jerry Bird -3 7. Scott Taylor -1 8. Ryan Martin +3 9. JJ Da Boss no change 10. Jason Cantu +3 11. Johnny Quick -3 12. Bobby Ducote no change 13. Daddy Dave -4 14. Tricia +1 15. Lizzy Musi -1 16. Mike Murello +2 17. Birdman +2 18. Chuck +2 19. Precious -3 20. Brandon James--Out due to crash in #17 slot; note that Birdman, Chuck, and Precious all moved up one due to this. Next week's preview teased someone new coming in to fill the #20 slot. Wonder who it will be?
  25. I've used raw CA, Loctite CA Gel, and CA with embossing powder for such work. All have worked well.
