  1. At last, something on-topic! I have a minty unbuilt NIB '64 Cutlass kit that's perfectly white. My beige parts have been in a box and not exposed to UV or any other kind of light for over 50 years. I just took a file to the underside of the interior tub and it's beige under the surface, too. Sure looks like it was molded in that color.
  2. It's still very high on my list of Top Ten Sitcoms of All Time. BOOOOO-GERRRRRR!
  3. I asked you to start your own thread about your project(s). Stop trying to make this thread about YOU. It's rude. Good day to you, sir.
  4. As I recall, Jennifer was "not interested in little gustos." RIP, Herb, and thanks for all the laughs.
  5. Different and therefore interesting! You don't see these built often. Well done and model on!
  6. Nice build of an unusual but interesting subject. Model on my friend!
  7. Great color, nice finish, clean build overall. Well done and model on!
  8. Now my alltime favorite cover of ANY Cole Porter or Frank Sinatra song. Sounds like James Bond movie theme. AMAZING!
  9. I've played around with several brands, but nowadays I try to get Duro in the small tubes if Walmart has it. Best combination of price, nozzle design, and shelf life. For superglue gel, I'll only use LocTite. Vastly superior to anything else I've ever tried. I don't care what it costs (or even know, for that matter); when superglue gel is what you need, that's the stuff.
  10. It greatly extends its life. Nowadays I buy superglue in smaller tubes, and when one starts to go bad, I toss it and go on to the next. But those bottles are expensive and worth trying to make last as long as possible.
  11. Please stop hijacking my thread. I thought maybe you could take a hint, but apparently you wanted to be told straight up. Thank you.
  12. You could try actually building one. And start a thread about it.
  13. Beautiful, all three of them! Congratulations on building them so well and keeping them in such great shape all these years. Well done and model on!
  14. I just glued a broken JoHan Maverick promo chassis (molded in blue, if that matters) back together with Flex-I-File Plast-i-Weld (methylene chloride-based), which I bought at Hobby Lobby a couple years ago. Seems to have worked--I got a good weld/melt joint almost instantly. The stuff's a little tricky to use because it evaporates so quickly. I applied it with an eyedropper, which is the best way I've found to use it. Hope this helps. Good luck!
  15. Actually looks better than the original! Well done and model on!
  16. The original painted interior responded well to its Purple Spa treatment--24 hours took it ALL off, which is surprisingly good results for the old metallic enamel. I thought sure there would be "corners" of it that would be stubborn, but no. It's almost a shame to paint it now, it looks so nice. But I can't find documentation that off-white or "ivory" or "buff" was a factory available color, just pure white. Speaking of which, I was really surprised at the styrene color--I was expecting typical white. But this is definitely not white. Which made me take another look at the "resin" lumped hood I bought off eBay. It's maybe a shade darker but definitely in the same "buff" family. Examining it closely, I can find none of the typical resin-copy evidence--pinholes, edge flash, etc. I'm now 95%+ sure it's an original kit piece. Which raises the question, anyone ever seen an original AMT '64 Cutlass--or any other AMT '64--molded in this buff/ivory/beige color?
  17. You wouldn't be the first.
  18. I'd advise putting it in the refrigerator. If you don't, when you finally need it, it's likely to be a solid mass.
  19. Well, they might send pictures of their butchery to Magnante for publication.
  20. An experienced IPMS guy once told me, "Yes, but the more parts, the more detail, the more chance there is to screw something up." IPMS (for example) judges on cleanliness and perfection of assembly and finish, regardless of the detail level.
  21. I'm about to try to fix a couple of JoHan Maverick promos. Gonna try a methylene chloride cement first, if that doesn't work, I'll move on to superglue or epoxy. We'll see what happens.
  22. Very, VERY nice! You really nailed it. Well done and model on!
  23. Got a CD I ordered from Amazon almost 2 months ago (!). It's a semi-bootleg of Jackson Browne and Warren Zevon in the Netherlands in 1976. This was when Browne was helping Zevon get started; Zevon had put out his first, little-heard album and his breakout Excitable Boy was still almost 2 years away. The CD includes what must have been very early versions of "Excitable Boy" and "Werewolves of London" from Excitable Boy (1978). I'm not a huge Jackson Browne fan but I like his version of "For a Dancer" on this. Also, after Zevon's untimely death, Browne and Bonnie Raitt recorded what is IMHO the very best version ever of Zevon's "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" for the tribute album Enjoy Every Sandwich.
  24. Got a little bodywork and polishing done on the damaged '70 Vette promo I'm doing for this round of the BOYD build. But the main thing I "accomplished" was to do an honest assessment of the project and admit to myself that this will never be an "A" project, for a number of reasons, and to press on and gitter done as a fairly respectable shelf-sitter. Most people seeing it would never know the difference, but of course I will.
  25. WARNING FOR CANADIANS: POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW (nothing major): Looks like that'll be next Monday, and now it makes sense since they're now adjacent on the list. Meanwhile, my dislike of Cantu continues to grow. Axman was clearly in the wrong last night. Chief didn't change the rules, Axman just seemed to get them mixed up in his head for some reason. It's beginning to look like those two will be fighting for #1 and #2 slots for the rest of the season--only 3 shows left. Looks like another wreck coming next week. Couldn't tell who, and after three re-watches, I think it might have been a certain blue Nova in the other lane, but I'm not at all sure. If I'm right, that would pretty much pin down who crashes.
