  1. Very cool! Well done and model on!
  2. And I bet it will be many, many MORE years before we see any of them from Round 2.
  3. One of the nicest builds of this wretched old kit I've seen, maybe THE nicest! Well done and model on!
  4. Just since it was 40% off week and I haven't been in a while, went over to the local HL. Was looking for the '64 Olds or another Nova wagon; no joy. Got a HUG '66 Cuda, a kit I've never seen before at HL, and a Revell snapper '57 Chevy I have an idea for. Was pleased to see my HL still have two racks of Testor paints (the third one is gone, sadly), so picked up a couple bottles I can use.
  5. Yeah, it's very similar to common aluminum tape, which you can get for about $8 a roll at Walmart.
  6. So true. And the numerous "Why don't they make a ___________" threads (and every clever variant of the theme) are getting tedious too.
  7. I can hear the jingle now: "Knick Knack Krap Rack--Buy Some Take It Home!"
  8. I like it! Drive on!
  9. That's probably exactly the situation.
  10. That wouldn't work. How about Knick Knack Rack?
  11. I have slight hand tremors sometimes. I've been just holding the part in my left hand and the paintbrush or tool in my right, and bracing both hands against the top of my work table. That works out pretty good most of the time.
  12. I feel like we both feel like we each got the better end of the deal--and that is the VERY BEST kind of trade, old friend!
  13. Put me down for '70s (or even late '60s) style. Exact kit doesn't really matter to me. Just give it: *Cragars or Torq-Thrusts or Keystone Klassic Kustomags or dish/slot wheels, better yet any two of these. *Open wheels, especially deep ones for the rear. *Tall, wide treaded rear tires, and slicks. No need to go much above 12" wide or less than 10". *Tube headers. *2x4bbl with choice of low-rise or tunnel ram manifold. *Couple different kind of hood scoops/lumps. *Traction bars. *Aftermarket steering wheel. *Hurst T-handle shifter with floor boot. *A braced roll bar wouldn't hurt. (Don't need a full cage.) Box art: Assuming this is part of a 4-8 model series, on the box art, show the car lined up on the street with another member of the series, with a couple more members waiting their turn behind.
  14. After years (decades?) of hearing that Tremors was "a good gun nut movie," I FINALLY got a chance to see it. A little silly in places, but not bad at all--I've seen much worse. Yup, a good gun nut movie--who knew Reba McEntire could sling lead? Recently re-watched two older Clint Eastwood movies. Heartbreak Ridge was worse than I remembered--it might be the worst Clint Eastwood movie of all time and one of the worst military/war movies of all time, or at least of the last 50 years. In the Line of Fire, OTOH, was better than I remembered. Might even be better than Dirty Harry. Also re-watched Blood Work and that wasn't too bad, either.
  15. Khils and I just concluded another great trade.
  16. Very nice, very clean! I WISH I could work up the energy to paint the tires on all the road wheels on armor models. Well done and model on!
  17. I built that kit back in the day (and still have it, in fact), but you can easily get a much better one together today by putting a modified Revell body on a Polar Lights chassis; Slixx has the decals.
  18. Thanks Michelle! I especially appreciate the kind words coming from you, Spencer! Thanks! It really does, doesn't it? Thanks so much! Thanks for all the kind words, Classic, Tom Dragonhawk, and Pappy! Model on!
  19. AGAIN, the '68 was modified into the '69, which was modified into the '70, which has been reissued and is available. The '68 and '69 won't be coming back unless they tool up all-new bodies, body parts, interiors, etc. Don't hold your breath.
  20. Interesting to look at my "grail list" of almost 7 years ago and see where I am now on it. Still love them all, still buy them when I can, still enjoy restoring, rescuing, and building them. '66 Skylark: Recently finished the Snake-Fu rescue of an original Craftsman. I have at least two more glue bombs that can be rebuilt. Last year I scored a complete set of original kit custom parts, and am planning to build up a kit custom on the dirt-track kit. '66 Barracuda: Bought an unbuilt mint kit many years ago and it will remain that way. I've "rescued" a nice yellow promo, and am planning to build at least one street cruiser based on the HUG body. '66 Mustang HT/Conv: Have one mint unbuilt annual kit and again it will remain that way. Have succeeded in rounding up enough extra custom parts from the kit to do a kit custom on a common current reissue. '66 Corvette roadster: Have now rounded up enough bodies and parts to do a factory stock, a road racer, a kit custom, and maybe even a drag car. I really need to get on these. Have the factory box and instructions, too. I added two more AMT '66s to my grail list: Impala HT and Mustang fastback. No luck so far on finding a full Impala kit but I did get two nice promos, a radio car, and I think one rebuilder that's good enough for a "Day 2" car. Also rounded up all the kit custom parts, which I'll install on a common dirt tracker. Scored an original convertible box, but not a HT box. In Mustang fastbacks, I've bought and restored/rescued five builtups: Two drag cars, one mild custom, one nicely painted factory stocker, and one so-so-painted stocker that I might strip and repaint someday. Also got a painted bare body that should strip to minty. Would still love to score an unbuilt kit, but I did get an original box and instructions. I got two '65 Chevelle Craftsman builtups, one of which I've already restored and the other I hope to do this year. Also have three of the AWB FC bodies in very bad shape, with a number of random FC parts. I MIGHT be able to piece two whole models out of the whole sad mess. Have an original AWB FC box and instructions. Finally scored a nice '69 Javelin promo that needs some minor repairs, and a '70 promo that needs major restoration/love. I still have the nice original that I built in 1968, and have restored a '68 promo and have another '68 promo to do. Still would love to find an original '68 or '69 kit with all the funny car parts, though. Don't have any original boxes for any of them. No joy on MPC '66 Bonneville HT. I did grab a '67 HT at the local toy show that would be really nice except for something heavy rested on it for years and pushed the whole roof over about half an inch. Gotta figger out how to fix that.
  21. Forgot to put in a eBay bid until 1 minute too late. And it sold for less than I was prepared to bid! (Not that the top bid might not have exceeded mine anyway.)
  22. Yah, those creep me out too. Looks like the general consensus here is that the most hated commercials are prescription drugs and car insurance.
  23. Stopped by my hometown (former) Rite-Aid today, first time I've been there since they went Walgreen's. (I've heard that SOME Walgreen's still carry the Wellys.) The beloved Welly/Beanie Baby display was gone. In the toy aisle, they had two boxed Maistos, a black Viper GTS and a 4-door pickup of some kind. Price on them was decent at $9.99, though. Left empty-handed. It is so very sad.
  24. What's interesting is that most of them weren't "stars" when it was made. For example, All in the Family was still a couple years from making Carrol O'Connor a household name/face.
  25. I don't mind most of the booze ads--some are even a little entertaining (such as the Corona ones with Snoopy the Dog)--except the Modelo beer ones, which have succeeded in making me dislike the Ennio Morricone soundtrack music, which I've loved up until lately.
