  1. But every other week or so, they have all "boxed model kits" at 40% off. Do they count this as a "boxed model kit"? Probably, but even if not, $20 isn't bad for a 1/24 scale diecast C8 Vette. I think I paid nearly that much for mine at Walmart (I got the metallic blue one).
  2. What a shame Sam's doesn't carry 1/24s. The Lovely Mrs Snake is a "frequent flier" at Sam's and could easily buy all her gifts for me for the year there, but I refuse to get into 1/18.
  3. #2, 3, and 4 are actually quite nice. #1 is a Revell '69 Z/28 and there are ways to smooth out and "rescue" that paint job if the mood took you to do so. But the kit is so common and inexpensive it would be easier to build a new one just to show how far you've progressed.
  4. I think I introduced Krylon Foil to this forum, having first tried it about a year and a half ago. It's not chrome plating or BMF or even Metalizer or Alclad, but it's pretty darn good, easy to use, and relatively inexpensive. It's my go-to product when I need to rechrome a whole bumper, for example.
  5. I love that "Over 53 Pieces." What does that mean? 54?
  6. Let freedom ring! Or maybe you prefer Pat Benatar:
  7. Very clean build, very sharp! Well done and model on!
  8. Another month my credit card is safe.
  9. I've been trying to buy a particular item online for about two months or more now. Back in May, my preferred vendor--let's call them Vendor A--showed an in-stock date of 6/3; three other vendors just showed them out of stock, no date even hinted at. As 6/3 approached, Vendor A's restock date changed to 7/6. Two days ago, two other vendors suddenly showed a variant of the item I want--functionally and practically identical, and in fact made by the same manufacturer just with different details I don't like quite as much as the exact one I want, and at a slightly higher price. I decided if Vendor A didn't have my item in stock on 7/6 (next Tuesday), I'd go ahead and order the similar item from one of the others. Yesterday Vendor A revised the in-stock date to 8/17. That decided it! I woke up this morning vowing to buy the variant from either Vendor B or Vendor C, depending on which one had the best price including shipping. This morning I got an email from Vendor A. They're having a 4th of July sale (10% off) and even throwing in FREE shipping. Just to say I did, I checked their website again, and wonder of wonders, the item I really wanted showed as in stock! I grabbed my credit card and submitted my order on the spot! We'll see what happens and I'm knocking on wood, but at the moment I'm feeling like this qualifies as something that "Pleased Me Today."
  10. I bought one of these a couple years ago and it promptly "disappeared" until a couple weeks ago. Opened to box to discover it should honestly be called "A Box of Plastic Flash with Some Random Stuff That Looks Something Like a Charger." Definitely not worth my time/effort to make an "A-grade" build out of it, but I do want to Snake-slap it together in some way. Unfortunately I already have a flat black primer '69 Charger diecast so that's out. Right now the plan is to slap some of this generic Rustoleum Charcoal Gray Metallic on it as a '70s street cruiser. Good luck with yours!
  11. It was a sometimes over-the-top parody of a soap opera--and it was hilarious! In a similar vein was America 2 Night, with Barth Gimble and Jerry Hubbard.
  12. MASH was great, very funny, but I saw all the reruns so many times I don't ever want to see it again.
  13. Had to make a trip today that normally takes me about 90 minutes, round trip. Got stuck in a five-mile accident backup on the interstate, the trip ended up taking 3 and a quarter hours. The five-mile backup was 7 miles on the way back (now in the other lanes, of course) and last time I checked on the net, the area still wasn't flowing. But I consider myself lucky--reportedly there was at least one fatality in this crash and seeing the "roadster SUV" parked UNDER a semi-trailer, I believe it.
  14. That's a beauty! If I ever run across one of those in any color, it's mine!
  15. Ain't it the truth! And congratulations--SIXTH COMPLETION GOTTER DONE! You don't know how pleased and proud I am when I hear something like that from one of you guys. GO! GO! GO! GITTER DONE!
  16. The important words in that sentence are "a lot," so count your blessings!

    My 67 vette

Very clean, very sharp! I assume that's the Monogram 1/12? Model on!
  18. Welcome aboard, and congratulations on NOT asking the two questions almost every visitor from Model Airplane World asks right off the bat: 1. "What's the best kit of the '68 Dizbuster GT?" (Assumes that anyone ever made a kit of the '68 Dizbuster GT, much less that there are still more than one available from which to choose.) And... 2. "What aftermarket is available for it?" (Assumes that the kit, if it exists at all, needs aftermarket.)
  19. As promised. And for once, I remembered to Silver-Sharpie the door handles BEFORE I took completion pics.
  20. When I think "funniest movies ever," I think Animal House, This Is Spinal Tap, Raising Arizona, and Stripes. Deadpool and Deadpool 2 were pretty funny, too in their own way. And I laughed much more than I'd planned to at the "new" Nat Lamp Vacation.
  21. I'd bet cash money that Tim Boyd will know. Heck, he was probably there!
  22. My '70 Vette is finished! FIFTH COMPLETION! GOTTER DONE! Well, done-ish. Haven't found the fourth taillight so the taillights are still out, but otherwise finished. Hope to have pics up later today or tonight. For those still shooting for the finish line, remember, you have to declare your project DONE before midnight tonight (June 30), with pics of the finished model posted within 48 hours. GO! GO! GITTER DONE!
  23. I bought one of these at Walmart. First time I've seen it in gold, and first time I've seen 'em in the "fine point." Wish I could find the Silver Leaf one in the fine point, too. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Marvy-Uchida-DecoColor-Premium-Metallic-Paint-Marker-Fine-Tip-Gold-564316520/46554570 I hope to use it to make some cool drag car name decals.
  24. Good eye! If you're interested, this isn't a great kit but it's not horrible, either. (It's better than their '62.) I built one last year and it came out pretty decent for what it is.
  25. I went back and looked at next week's previews. Clearly (if only momentarily) shows JJ and Tricia lined up to race. WTF? They're two places apart now, with Chucky and Cantu between them. So either JJ loses two spots or Trish picks up two? (Or I guess JJ could lose one and Tricia gain one.) With no "return" callouts from/on either? Hard to imagine the scenario. Maybe the two of them just race for fun and the amusement of everyone else at the end.
