  1. Just punching paper, but I'm investigating some kind of action targets. It's fun to see stuff jump around, or blow up! BTW, did you see my last post in the What Did You Get Today Not Model Related thread? It might interest you.
  2. I'm now the age I always think of my grandfather as being.
  3. Sledsel, you win. Those are the ugliest Corvettes on the planet.
  4. Makes a certain amount of sense. If you're right, you can have all mine.
  5. Tried to shoot one of my new airguns for the first time this morning, and it wasn't having any. The problem seems to be with the magazine/CO2 reservoir. It has a 90 day warranty and 60-day money-back guarantee from the vendor, both of which should still be good. I emailed the vendor with my diagnosis of the problem and suggested several solutions that don't involve the time, effort or expense of sending the whole gun back to them. We'll see what happens, but I told them if they have to send the whole gun back, I'll just ask for my money back and re-order it from another vendor who offers a "test fire" service for a nominal price, so I can be sure I get one that works. I've bought five new airguns in the past few months. Three of them have performed perfectly and exceeded my expectations. One seems to be experiencing some "break-in bugs" but it does work most of the time and I'm fairly happy with it. Today's is the only one of the five I've had any REAL problem with. I am REALLY enjoying shooting these things in my basement for just pennies a session! No heat, rain, or other weather worries! No ammo shortages or mega-high prices! No other jerks to deal with at the range! No drive across town to the range! Just happy, happy trigger time! What's not to like? UPDATE: Already heard back from the vendor's customer service, and they're sending me a replacement magazine to test, no charge, no argument at all! Can't complain about that! The vendor, BTW, is Airgundepot.com. Good people!
  6. Hmmmm, wonder what that means.
  7. If they want me to buy a "grab bag," they better price it at 99 cents or something.
  8. I think my favorite local toy show vendor has been sitting on one of these for several months at a reasonable price...I built the snapper and also have a nice diecast in 1/25 so haven't really paid that much attention to it. I THINK the Chezoom Teal is still in the Testor line, hiding in the "little bottle" line as just "Teal." If it's not exactly the same thing, it looks very, very similar. Yes, it's metallic/pearl.
  9. Then you're probably gonna like the next finished model I post here, hopefully within the next week or so.....
  10. That's completely unacceptable, and not the first time I've heard of this from HL. I'd complain to them and demand they take the un-ordered items back on their dime, and either send the right stuff or give me my money back. Accept no substitutes!
  11. I heard someone say recently, "Ironically, although everyone knows exactly what 'ironic' means, no one can really define it."
  12. "It's like RAY-EE-AIIIIIIIIN, on your wedding day..."
  13. Looks like a good use for the old Monogram '56 Bel Air hardtop kit!
  14. This subforum is the best source I've ever seen for news of new and upcoming stuff. Stick around and stay plugged in.
  15. Hella cool! I have an original MPC Tiger Shark I've been wanting to get around to building since it was new (and a couple of the reissues), and a red HW Python. We'd love to see sharper pics, but anyway, well done and model on!
  16. The original MPC '68-'69 Chargers were pretty nice, in fact IMHO they're a little better than the modern Revell kits in a couple areas. I still have the one I built in 1968 and cherish it. It's about due for a restoration.
  17. Those palm trees are making me want to build an "Afrika Korps" Beetle!
  18. Yah, the First World Problems are almost unbearable these day, aren't they? Reminded me of the old Robert Klein Song "Middle Class Blues." Youtube doesn't seem to have it, but IIRC the lyrics went something like: "Woke up this morning, looked out and saw both cars were gone, Woke up this morning, looked out and saw both cars were gone, I got so low-down deep depressed, Lawd, I threw my drink across the lawn...."
  19. I like that a lot! If it were shiny, it would look a lot like Axman's! Drive on!
  20. Been binge-watching the early seasons of Street Outlaws and have grown fond of the murdered-out look of at least three of the cars. I decided to go for that on my latest glue bomb rescue. Two years ago it would have been a no-brainer: I'd have just shot it with one coat of Model Master Black Chrome Trim. But I haven't been able to find any more of that for a couple years now, and am carefully hoarding my last few bottles of it for "special" projects, so had to find another way. Yesterday I shot the body with the cheap ($3/can) Touch N Tone Flat Black as an experiment. It looked horrible, but this morning I buffed it out with a dry flannel shirt and darned if it didn't give me almost exactly the look I was going for! Happy Happy Joy Joy! I've already got at least two more projects in mind that this should work great for!
  21. Got five old 1968 issues of Hi Performance CARS magazine from eBay. One of them is one of my favorite issues of any magazine of all time--I have a copy but haven't been able to find it for the last year. It has at least five outstanding feature cars in it, some of which I want to model. Of the other four, one is another copy of the issue that had the writeup of the 1968 CARS Magazine meet that I actually went to, so that's cool, another one's a duplicate of one I have, and the last two are new to me. It' a happy day in the Snakepit!
  22. I can't stand anything about golf, so you should be pleased when I say that article was FAR more interesting than I was expecting. Of course I was familiar with the golf scene in the movie, but have never read Goldfinger so of course didn't know all the little details and back-stories. Well worth the two minutes of my time this morning.
  23. I'm now up into Season 4 of the old shows, and loving every minute. I didn't think it was possible for me to dislike Doc more, but I was wrong. Murder Nova holds the #1 spot for something like three straight years. Doc manages to put one miraculous lucky streak together and climb to #1. He holds it for I think a week, loses it, and begins a sink to #5. And for the next two years, he's whining about "getting my #1 spot back." "MY #1 spot?" Dude, please. You lucked into it for a hot minute. And then he complains about everyone else being sore losers. He's the sorest loser I've ever seen in my life. Even worse, he's the most un-gracious winner I've ever seen. What a nozzle. Funny thing is, I really like his car. His Monte is one of the sharpest looking cars on the list. But I can't root for it as long as that snotbag is driving it. Becoming a real fan of Flip's/Kamikaze's ratty old El Camino, though. I might have to build a tribute model.
