Mine is by Entex, and it's notably undersize for 1/25. I don't know if the Academy is the same kit, or a direct knockoff (they've been known to do that), or if it's a whole different thing that might actually be 1/25 or close to it.

Got the engine block/heads/manifold/oil pan/front cover of my halfbreed hot rod filed, mated, assembled, and painted--two light coats white primer, two light coats Model Master Hugger Orange. Got some of the rear suspension worked on, too. And found the body of an AMT AWB Mustang I want to work on. After tearing up my workbench (which looks like an auto wrecking yard) looking for it, I found it in the last place I expected--in its own box. Whoda guessed?

I think I have a kit of that! Only problem is it's some oddball scale like 1/28 or something.

Very cool, I like the color--what's the paint?

Improvise! Adapt! Overcome!

Another way to go about this is to google-image pictures of the truck/car in the color you're seeking. You will come up with dozens of examples. You will find that the paint looks at least three or four different ways. Pick a picture you like, get a good mental image of the color, and then go looking for the closest thing you can find. This isn't exact, of course, but it does keep you moving. And sometimes, it's as good a process as anything else you can do. PS: If you really want to get your mind blown, ask a friend from Model Airplane World about something called "scale effect" sometime.

Oh my, that's nice too! I have one of those kits but keep going back and forth whether I want to build it on floats or wheels. I might need to get a second one so I can do both. I fell in love with this whole type of airplane as a young child watching the Clutch Cargo cartoons. Found out many years later that Clutch's airplane was a Bellanca Airbus/Aircruiser, which there's never been a model of except for a vacformed 1/72. But a few years back I bought the DVD set and guess what, in at least one episode the airplane is a Norseman for some reason! I have the Hobbycraft 1/48 Beaver with the fuselage molded in clear but something not right about the glass framing in the front part. I need to see if that whole area can be filed/sanded/polished smooth and then mask off the correct glass shapes. I think I also have a HC 1/72 Beaver on floats, which I only own because Squadron falsely advertised it as 1/48 which it's not. No wonder it was so cheap! Clutch's airplane:

My Mom used to make a casserole that involved baked beans, Spam, and cornbread on top. It was one of my favorite meals. I need to see if she passed that recipe on to The Lovely Mrs. Snake....

I bought a giant package of them at Dollar General last week. I use a lot of them for model car stuff.

Yes, and I'm sick of it there. Been tired of that song for at least 30 years. -

I use the Testor Decal Set for that. -
The Ads Are Now Out of Control!
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't think we all see the same ads. Most ads are now geared to what else you've looked at on your computer. For example, I see a good deal of eBay and gun ads here. I bet most of you aren't seeing gun ads. -
Curiously, on a gun forum I frequent, last week someone was asking about making and handloading silver bullets. Someone offered a great idea: Start with common copper-jacketed lead hollowpoints, and fill the hollow nose with silver. That should work....

Totally stolen from another forum: * Half of us are going to come out of this quarantine as amazing cooks. The other half will come out with a drinking problem. * I used to spin that toilet paper like I was on Wheel of Fortune. Now I turn it like I'm cracking a safe. * I need to practice social-distancing from the refrigerator. * Still haven't decided where to go for Easter ----- The Living Room or The Bedroom * PSA: every few days try your jeans on just to make sure they fit. Pajamas will have you believe all is well in the kingdom. * Homeschooling is going well. 2 students suspended for fighting and 1 teacher fired for drinking on the job. * I don't think anyone expected that when we changed the clocks we'd go from Standard Time to the Twilight Zone * This morning I saw a neighbor talking to her cat. It was obvious she thought her cat understood her. I came into my house, told my dog..... we laughed a lot. * So, after this quarantine.....will the producers of My 600 Pound Life just find me or do I find them? * Quarantine Day 5: Went to this restaurant called THE KITCHEN. You have to gather all the ingredients and make your own meal. I have no clue how this place is still in business. * My body has absorbed so much soap and disinfectant lately that when I pee it cleans the toilet. * Day 5 of Homeschooling: One of these little monsters called in a bomb threat. * I'm so excited --- it's time to take out the garbage. What should I wear? * I hope the weather is good tomorrow for my trip to Puerto Backyarda. I'm getting tired of Los Livingroom. * Classified Ad: Single man with toilet paper seeks woman with hand sanitizer for good clean fun. * Day 6 of Homeschooling: My child just said "I hope I don't have the same teacher next year".... I'm offended.

I gotcher back, Peteski. You've got it exactly right here. -
I do too, unless it's about something with a word as unusual here as "Shimmer." Can't be that many threads about it.

It wouldn't be a bad idea at all. I like Micro Superfilm.

Bye-bye dog leg door hinges. What glue to attach doors to body?

I haven't heard anyone address what to do if the gaps AREN'T tight. Which, on most diecasts, they aren't.
