  1. Nice! If you're going fast, you need an F-104 and an F-15 in there.
  2. Outstanding! The color is perfect, and thanks for using BLACK plug wires and NOT routing them over the valve covers. Well done and model on!
  3. I bought a (relatively) inexpensive Campbell-Hausfeld with tank and regulator at Walmart in 2002, and was out the door for well under $100. It is still going strong and if it blew up tomorrow, I'd go buy another one (and I think Walmart's price on them is even lower now). I've often said that the day I brought that thing home was the happiest day of my adult modeling life.
  4. I did the same thing Saturday. Might be time to retire my faithful but tired Badger 350.
  5. That color looks great! I love your decals. Can't decide--let me think about it a while. For the lace--can you print a negative of what you have? If you laid lace over green paint and spray black, it will look the opposite of what you have. Your decal is what would happen if you painted black first, then laid down the lace and sprayed green, which wasn't the way it was usually done back in the day.
  6. Do you have a Walmart? If so, go over to the home/tools section, where the compressors are, and see if they have the Campbell-Housefield airbrush kit for $20. This is a Chinese made copy of the double action Badger 150. I bought one last month, have only used it once so far but I was VERY impressed with it, especially for the price.
  7. Bringing them back to life is fun, isn't it? Even better in some ways than building up a brand new kit.
  8. It's obviously a "Day Two" build, not factory stock, so not a big deal.
  9. You're right--BRG, Corvette Bronze and Rally Green were mid-year additions to the Camaro color chart.
  10. Fathom Green was a completely different color, much much darker.
  11. Chevy didn't offer Verdoro Green in '68 (or ever, for that matter); it was a Pontiac color. Their green in '68 was called Sequoia Green IIRC and it was much darker. But they SHOULD have, as your model looks great wearing it. Very clean build, very nicely done. Model on!
  12. Well, all the marked-down model cars are gone from mine. Still had many of the kits, but back at full price. Couple airplanes were the only discounts. No really good colors in the Testor/Model Master rattlecans, either. Bought a couple just because they were cheap, but nothing I really needed. I did score a Paasche H airbrush set for $25, though, nearly $100 off normal price. Been wanting one for years. Now I'll get to see if it works as well as everybody has been telling me all my life.
  13. You can get the slant four engine in, I believe, the Revell Mickey Thompson Attempt 1 kit.
  14. AFAIC they signed their own death warrant the day they stopped carrying models. I spent a lot of money there up till then. Since then, not a dime.
  15. Alumilite has a 2-part silicone putty that is VERY easy to use. You knead it together, 50-50 by weight or volume, press it over what you want, and it's ready to use in about 15 minutes. You can use only what you need. One pound--a lot of the stuff--is $30 at Hobby Lobby but I've used the 40% off coupon on two boxes of it, which should last me a LONG time. MUCH easier to use than measuring and mixing liquids, and building up dams to pour them, and so forth. Great stuff!
  16. Has to be '65. The '64 hasn't been seen since 1964, when the molds were altered to make the '65, which has been reissued many many times since.
  17. And how about all the cool Canadian "Pontiacs" of the '60s?
  18. Learn to polish plastic, Randy, and you can build year-round, no matter how cold or hot/humid it is. Great slump-buster!
  19. That is EXACTLY what I was going to post!
  20. My enjoyment comes from the look of the finished model on the shelf--bodywork, paint & trim, finish, "sit," wheels/tires and attitude. I'm fine with curbside and often don't even put the engines in "full detail" kits. I'll sometimes spend some time on the interior, but on my "glue bomb rescue" deals, I usually just squirt the gut with semigloss black and call it done. I'll do a full build with an engine and correctly painted underside once in a while, but that's no longer my "standard" build. Gotta keep moving!
  21. I just did one of these last month! Did it all in one sitting of a couple hours and I think half of that time was trying to detail the headlights and their covers. Had a lot of fun with it and it looks pretty good on the shelf. I do remember having to do a little trimming on the left side of the windshield before it would pop into place. Not a big deal.
  22. Ferrari and Dodge Charger Daytonas.
  23. Yeah. I'm currently working on several '65-'67 and '68-'73 Covettes...and I've just finished a couple of each, too. And now I seem to be on a GTO kick, just finished a '72 and am working on a '65....
