If someone would lie and cheat about something trivial and meaningless like golf, does that mean he or she is more or less likely to lie and cheat about something that actually matters?

Project Rambler--Ideas/Suggestions Wanted
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's not too different from what I have in mind for the hardtop. Or, an idea that's very near the top of the pile. The parts I could use most are a trunk lid, a windshield, and a top. But I can drive on without all three if need be. -

A flat-top early funny also crossed my mind, but I have another idea I like even better. -

Gasser was one of my very first ideas, and it's still not off the table. Also thought of Pro Touring. Era Trans Am is a VERY interesting idea, and is now on the table. Thanks! -
I tried my imagination, but I was disturbed. (SO disturbed that that line doesn't make sense, although it does rhyme, kinda-sorta.)

Now we're getting somewhere. You're kinda in the ballpark of one of my ideas. -

I've got an unbuilt SCRambler kit to build someday. -

If I went prostreet, I'd think the chassis from the AMT '66 Nova would be a better fit all round. Thanks for the idea! -

Interesting suggestions, thanks! -
Me too. I miss the various smells of the AMT lacquers. Though SOME of the new Testor lacquers sort of smell a little like some of them.

A few months back at the local toy show, I bought a box of JoHan Rambler “project” (two of the last-issue JoHan “pro street” SCRamblers). It looks like there's enough stuff here to get one stock car together, but not two. But I hate to waste anything so I want to try to get two complete cars out of what I have and/or can scrounge. Neither of these models needs to be “stock.” In fact, I have no interest in building a stock SC/Ramber (I have a new unbuilt kit) or a stock Rambler American. But I want to build SOMETHING from them. TWO somethings, in fact. Looking for ideas and suggestions. Here's what I have to work with: 2 body shells, 1 painted (I'll strip it); one with top removed (top not present). 2 hoods, 1 with large hole, 1 with ’69 Camaro cowl induction puttied on. 1 trunk lid (I should be able to vacform or scratchbuild another one) 1 set glass (windshield/backlight) 2 sets major body chrome (grille, front and rear bumpers) 2 interior tubs with dashboard 1 set factory seats 1 complete chassis with trunk and gas tank 1 complete engine 1 (at least) set taillights (not a big deal, I can make a second set if need be). I also have an unbuilt original JoHan '66 Ramber American kit that I could possibly borrow some of the Custom parts from (I might build that one factory stock, someday). So, what can I do with these two? I have a couple ideas in mind, but am interested in hearing what y'all think, or would do with them. Let the ideas roll!

Final update: 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A

Beautiful interior! -
I own a number of rare models--built, but they weren't particularly rare when I built them 50 years ago. Of unbuilt rare stuff I own now, I have AMT annual '66 Mustang HT/Conv, '66 Falcon, and '66 Barracuda kits I'll never build. Also a Sonny & Cher Mustang. I have several new in box AMT '64-'67 Corvettes I'll probably never build, because I have perfectly nice rebuildable glue bombs to do. I can leave them unmolested. I have an original, NIB AMT '68 Cougar that I DO plan to build. If/when I do so, I'll do it "live" here, on the Workbench, and take tips and requests and suggestions from the audience.

You can paint it candy (transparent) red, or you can paint it Testor Stop Light Red, or you can "paint" it with a red Sharpie (will take a couple applications). Testor also has a Clear Red Acryl which is especially good for this stuff. Tamiya has one too. There are many paths to the top of the mountain.

Your google-fu is much stronger than mine. Respect!

No, I think the search engine here doesn't recognize a term as short as GTO. I know some searches require at least four or maybe five letters. I didn't get ANY hits for ANY year GTO of any kind!

Nice start, but I'd lower the nosebleed stance of the front end to at least level. Jacking the front end like that kinda defeats the slick aerodynamics of the Sting Ray, especially the more you get over 120 mph--which such a car should easily be capable of.

Black stripes might look good on that green paint. The stripes might also look hella in Testor Lime Ice flake, if you'd care to lay out the masking and paint them.
-
Yup. Dunno what you could do with them except maybe try to dry-brush them. I'm just going with Tempest taillights on mine.

I agree with you about the fenders looking ugly on SRs, which is why I've never built one and probably never will. Altereds, on the other hand, spin my windmill. Take the headlights off yours and it's a pretty decent Altered.
