I thought that was the next-gen Kirby vacuum cleaner. It would also make a great golf cart for the golfer in a BIG hurry.

They were probably thinking about how/where to park them outside of one's own driveway. Yikes!
-
I believe the Revell '65 Chevelle Z16 has them too.

Looking very, VERY good! Your engine-turned dash panel is particularly impressive. You might be interested to know that, influenced by you and this build, I dug out the '77 Monza I started in the mid-'80s and dragged it across the finish line a couple weekends ago. Will post pics under glass as soon as I get time. Thanks for the inspiration!

Do they have to be finished as The General? I've got a DOH kit someone did in dark blue that I "restored" if it qualifies. If not, I won't spoil all the lovely orange here.

I didn't know the whole body was a new tool, though it's obvious that the roof is very different from previous issues. It's worse. Everything else looked pretty much the same. Look up my "68 1/2 SS" up in under glass to see how I tweaked the body (of an older black reissue) to get it a little closer to a real '69 Camaro shape. With a backbirth this sorry, every little bit helps.

That is exactly what styrene is FOR!
-
Yeah, that's why I didn't mention those.

Did not know that, and I built one back in the day! I'll have to dig it out and take a look sometime soon. It DID have the Chevy engine, though, and not the Pontiac engine of the black reissue.

My dream 1:1 car: 67 Corvette 427 conv
Snake45 replied to ismaelg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Pretty much my dream car too, but it would have to have the hard top and lose the whitewalls. Ideally it would be one of the small-block cars built in the spring of '67 when for a brief while all they had was big-block hoods so the 327 cars got the stinger hood. You are obviously a man of style and taste! -
Dug this out to see what it needs. I thought it was a bit oversized, but measuring the wheelbase, it's 1/24.2 so I guess it's okay. Mine is dark blue but they also come in the classic white with blue stripes scheme. I can't really find too much to do to this one. I sanded the tire treads and hit the (silver) front parking lights with some pearl white. Looks like there might be some improvements to be made in the headlight area, but not sure I want to risk prying out the clear covers and trying it. I do think I'll try to paint the amber front side marker lights, though. This thing is actually a pretty nice little cheap diecast.

Yes, you did. You had it right and I was just trying to back you up. Sorry if it came across any other way.

Oh absolutely. I can't remember the last time I saw a TV show that had guns in it where they didn't get something wrong. It's maddening. As a result of seeing decades of this, I'm under no illusion that they get anything else right, either. "Police procedural" is a literary/entertainment term, not a police term.

Nor definitions either, apparently.

Wet sanding is a standard trick in my bag. Unless I've got a really bad booger somewhere along the way, I use it near the end, after all the paint/clear is on, but before polish. I just wet-sanded and polished a Corvette last week--came out quite nice. Once again I learned the lesson, every minute spent wet-sanding with #1500 is worth five to ten minutes of polishing. I spent one whole evening just trying to polish the trunk/rear deck area of the body, and still had orange peel in it. The next night I attacked it and the rest of the body with the #1500, and had it all smooth in one evening. The next evening it was no problem to polish the body out to final shine. Not only was it no problem, it was quite a bit of fun!

Good to hear. Mine was placed just after July 4 weekend, and just before they closed the site. I should be within a couple weeks or maybe a month of getting mine. I've got some projects standing by eagerly!
-
They're both on the "official" list I posted above, so, yes, they meet the definition.
-
Yeah, that's the general sequence.
-
Sounds like you've got everything you need, and I KNOW you have the mad skillz to do it!
-
Not saying different. But that doesn't make it a member of the police procedural genre.
-
I too would like to see the Aurora Maserati reissued, along with the Aston-Martin DB4. (The "Spy Car" DB5 would be even better, but since it's never been reissued, I doubt it ever will be.)
-
Yup. I left them all "bare" on the resto DOH but on the Charger 500, my beloved Silver Sharpie made quick work of faking the fronts to match the rears.
-
IIRC, both the (apparently) original DOH I restored and the 1987 500 kit bodies had wheel opening moldings around the rear wheels, but not around the front. Kinda strange.
