  1. I went into my PB files to post two pics on another forum yesterday. It's still slow. In fact, I had to use two different browsers and it took me 20 minutes to post ONE picture to the forum and I never was able to post the other. Worse, all the ads and junk running ate up so much memory that they basically locked my computer up completely. After I got the one pic posted, I just gave up and restarted the computer to clear it up.
  2. One year later: The only thing on that list I've actually finished is the AMT '53 Corvette snapper. Oh, I've gotten lots of stuff done, just nothing from my master plan. I did just get back to work on that AMT '65 Corvette roadster and hope to get back into a couple more '65-66 Vettes very shortly.
  3. I occasionally run across builtup but restorable/rebuildable JoHan Cadillacs of various years (mostly '60s, I guess) at the local toy show. As I have no interest in them, I haven't paid much attention, but I gather that others here might be interested in them. What are good/reasonable prices for these?
  4. Been there done that many, many times.
  5. Very, VERY nice, and looks like it's ready for a trip to the carwash! Well done and model on!
  6. Agree completely, and I started a thread on this some time ago. Having built model airplanes most of my life, multipiece body construction doesn't bother me at all, providing at least a reasonably good fit to start with. That said, I can't believe that someone--Revell or Moebius or Lindberg or even Round 2 or Trumpeter--hasn't given us a new-tool '65 GTO by now. It's not even my favorite musclecar--probably wouldn't even make the top 20--but I do recognize how iconic and beloved it is. And I'd buy and build at least one (if it's better than the old AMT backbirth).
  7. I've bought two or three of these over the years just to use a coupon but have never built one. I do know that at least one is molded in orange because I opened it up to see if an old non-RS AMT grille/bumper can be made to work with it (it looks do-able). I also bought a couple of the B-M 454 kits, molded in dark green. I have started on one of those. The plastic seems fine, and polishes up to a nice shine. Biggest flaw is the "dent" along the top of the passenger side front fender, where it meets the hood. Not sure yet how I'm gonna deal with that.
  8. That's not horrible. If the site actually works without delay or hangups, I'd be willing to pay that. However, now that both this site and Hyperscale (my favorite model airplane site) allow direct pic posting, I might just stumble along as I have been.
  9. China? We weren't even trading with China yet in 1967, or '68. Are you saying that Chinese-made ones stamped '67 or '68 are more recent counterfeits/fakes/forgeries?
  10. Kinda disappointed that the body doesn't have the rear fender molding line on it. I might have to add that in some way. Maybe even just a thin tape, or something. For my planned Altered, disappointed that the interior is molded in place. I'm looking at going to center seating. Will have to cut all that out. Oh well, if it were easy, anybody could do it!
  11. From what I've read, they had all kinds of trouble trying to translate the Mako Shark II front end lines to the street. AFAIC, they got it right in the end--the '68-'73 Corvettes are better looking cars than the Shark. IMHO, of course.
  12. They didn't get any from Chevy, who gave the promo contract to MPC that year. They hadn't done any Pontiacs since '65. They did the '68 Riviera and Toronado, and Fords, and Cougar and Continental.
  13. Sorry, Steve, didn't see this post until just now. But as you can see, I'm all good.
  14. Got one today at Ollie's. In fact, got two. Think I'll build one as a drag Altered, and then see about doing that funky MG-ish thingie I mentioned. Both should be fun.
  15. Well, I'll tell you for a fact who DIDN'T have the '68 Corvette "blueprints" early. AMT, that's who.
  16. Bumping this because a couple people have asked me about it since photobucket went off the air. Now that the pics are back, you can see it all again.
  17. I just got The Call this evening--from Carol Holt, asking for my updated credit card info. Happy happy joy joy! She said they hoped to ship in the next week. Told me I didn't have The Very Last order, but they are getting very, very near the end. I wished them a happy retirement, thanked her for all their good work over the years and told her that they would be dearly missed in our community.
  18. Yah, I have a friend looking for one. Told him I'd check ePay for him--talk about sticker shock!
  19. Thanks but I don't really need one that bad. And who knows, the red ones could show up at my place next week.
  20. Anyone who'd do that to a real '55 Nomad should be horsewhipped, but this is EXACTLY what models are for! Nicely done and model on!
  21. Yah, they're not coming back. I'll buy a restorable one at the local toy show every now and then if the price it right, but I'm pretty well stocked up on what I want--enough not to pay crazy prices, anyway.
  22. I built one of those last year. It came out looking great and I didn't do a thing to the finish. Might be the least effort I've EVER put into an acceptable looking model. Today I bought the red Corvette. I'd have bought the Challenger if it were any color other than purple.
  23. Since Photobucket is working again, here's a link to my original tutorial, with good links to my original post on another forum.

    El Camino!

Looks good! I have one of these on the bench even as we speak. Thanks for the inspiration!
  25. I have a promo '67 molded in light blue. I've been planning for years to cut the hood out, kitbash it with '69 parts and make a full-detail '67 in metallic brick red, but now I'm thinking more along the lines of polishing up the light blue plastic. I don't have any polished plastic in that particular color.
