  1. You've come darn close to proving that one CAN in fact gold-plate a turd. And I'll bet you had a boatload of fun doing it, too. Nicely done and model on!
  2. As Mark said, you can make it almost any consistency you want. The "standard" recipe is to cut sprue into short chunks, put it in a bottle, then pour in just enough MEK to cover them. Let sit a couple days and you have your goo. I made and used a lot of this stuff back in the '80s in model airplane work, but hardly ever do anymore. Unless you put it on very thin in several/many coats, it can take forever to dry because the "skin" will dry off and the stuff underneath can take weeks or months to gas out completely. Now, jobs I used to do with styrene goo, I do with superglue, or superglue gel, or even just some thick flat hand-brushed primer.
  3. Those are all quite nice. Well done and model on!
  4. Just since we're talking MCW Olds, I'd like to hear about their '65 4-4-2, if anyone has bought or built one. Very tempting!
  5. You did a great job with it! Model on!
  6. I like the first one better. And why not incorporate a real clock into it? Make the art a functioning timepiece.
  7. I've never seen the '67 convertible body but I have two of the hardtops to restore. I'd agree that it's the most accurate except in one area: The sheetmetal right under the rear side windows. AMT got this wrong in '67, MPC got it wrong in '68 and '69 and on the Firebirds too. (I'll have to take a look at the AMT '69 body, I forget how it is on that one.) Revell got this right on the '69 Camaro and the '68 Firebird. AMT's "new" '68 has it sort of right--the whole area under the side windows needs to be reworked (per my tutorial here) but you can get the right shape out of it.
  8. The AMT '69 Camaro's RS grille/front end is much more accurate than Revell's. I believe there would be a market for those parts to convert common Revells. I know I'd buy a set or two. The AMT '67 Camaro RS grille is also MUCH more accurate than the Revell '67's. I just got several of them from Modelhaus, but with them now OOB, you would have a steady market for those, too.
  9. +1 on all that. Nicely done!
  10. Beautiful! I especially like the metallic gray one and the copper one.
  11. Indeed! You did a great job of making that flip front end fit. Well done and model on!
  12. Just the thing for my weekly grocery/supply run to Walmart and Hobby Lobby. I'll take it!
  13. I got my Last Order from Modelhaus. This means I'll be able to get on with restorations of some '66 Skylarks, '64-'67 Corvettes, '68-'70 Javelins, and a '63 Riviera, among others. Happy happy joy joy! Oh, there should be a '68 Coronet R/T in there, too. Don't PM me. I didn't get any of this stuff to sell, I just got what I needed for my own projects.
  14. The Monogram '70 GTX and Superbird are a bit chunky (tall) in the body. They look like they need to be sectioned an inch or two. It's less apparent in the Superbird than it is in the GTX.
  15. Oh my yes! Wagonate the thing to really drive the joke home. That would look even better than the "stock" eyesore the kit is now. Go for it!
  16. Maybe I was thinking of TVR, or maybe that old SAAB sports car. Something about it reminds me of SOMETHING.
  17. Beautiful! Looks like you haven't lost your touch at all! Well done and model on!
  18. Fabulous save! You are truly a Glue Bomb Hero!
  19. From the cowl back it's reminding me of something else...First-gen Mazda RX-7, maybe?
  20. I just last weekend reread Tim's Guide to Modeling the '68-'72 Corvettes in the "other" magazine of a few years ago. One of the very best pieces of model car journalism ever published. Is there much of this sort of thing in the book? If so, I'm in.
  21. Maybe she's worried/wary. If she's not, then maybe you should be. Or maybe... Not long ago I asked The Lovely Mrs. Snake why she watched so many shows with deranged, insane, stupid, or just plain old trashy people. "It makes me feel better about my life, " she said. Good answer.
  22. Tapatalk's okay except it takes more time and effort to switch between subforums. I prefer this place.
  23. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
  24. Well now I have to have (another) one!
  25. Thanks for all the kind comments, everyone. Much appreciated!
