I started watching a pretty good series on building a Porsche scale model...just thought you might wanna have a peek for future ideas
-
She is coming together very nicely
-
Thanks Ron, will try The micro etcher thing is a HUGE help.....it is actually pretty fun to watch that paint just peel right off. Heck of a mess though
-
Your skills are nothing to sniff at, but I do admire the humility. If you get a chance, would love to see the milling set up you are using....no rush. Say, one of those Bugatti planes crashed last summer and killed the pilot I do believe
-
Thanks Andre....I will salvage the one I broke Were the mirrors on your kit moulded on or cemented?? For me, wheels make or break a car
-
Here we go....media blasted Porsche Similar to what they do with the real cars, aluminum oxide microetcher
-
Next the car body goes for a soak and then peel off. Paint was very thick with clear coat overtop and what looks like auto body primer underneath Causulties included cutting off the windshield frame before it got destroyed and I broke driver's mirror. You can see the thick paint, I just got a tool under there and peeled it off. Next step is a media blasting with a micro etcher to remove primer and any more paint.

We shall see how that goes, don't wanna get too far ahead of myself It is a little/big project if you catch my drift...and inspired by your build thread for sure
-
This is what really got me going...some Fujimi 19" BBS mags and tires I popped on. Once I saw that, it was THIS is now a project. Fujimi makes some really great wheel and tire combos btw Interior goes for a dip into the lemon scent oven cleaner gel

Been so long I have forgotten how to post photos and navigate posts here...but I will make due. This should be all the before photos attatched now. Oh yeah, it was a Monogram kit, mid 80ish Porsche turbo convertible slant nose. Missing the rear deck and spoiler

I have not done an auto build for a while....many reasons and other interests This Porsche 911 is a 1/24 scale from eBay a few years ago. My joke is it was only $6.... and $14 in shipping. End of March I decided it was time to pull it out of its plastic bag and bring it back to life

Stumbled onto this gorgeous bit of machine work......very impressed. You have some serious talent and patience You know it is something special when Randy, the master of brass work and detail, is telling you how much this blows him away

Absolutely Cato deserves some notice for keeping us all posted on what was going on with Harry Thanks a lot my friend -
$6 Monogram glue bomb from e bay I picked up a couple years ago. It is a 911 slant nose convertible Turbo. If I can take her over a couple hurdles and make it half decent, will post up a thread

I am proposing we name the large scale section "Harry's Big Boyz"...I always found his gorgeous models in that section and will always think of him while I surf there -

So inspired but his car I have started the refurb on an e bay glue bomb Porsche Turbo 911from the stash Thinking of making it into a Targa though...... I have Targa fever

Sobering thoughts indeed guys We really gotta live for and in the moment....which is hard to do trying to make ends meet and battling the stresses of life. Harry's sickness really hit me hard and of course now his passing is even harder. I will always think of him when I model, especially the Pocher Bugatti I got about the same time he got his Gotta stop and smell the roses, be thankful and enjoy my time better Cheers all and raise a glass to Harry when you can
