  1. Ok, I am stepping off the edge into the deep end Too tired for soldering the frame up and I had some rum and coke, so maybe not get into flaming things tonight
  2. Good topic start here I like your Avatar, watch that show with my kids.....Schmebulock was my favorite gnome
  3. Ahh you bring back some memories with this build now When I was a kid in grade 8, I remember cutting out the rear covers and putting in metal mesh for my 1/20 Tamiya I thought it was awesome. This kit, I need to get it into my stash again!!! I think I was following a magazine photo story on it. This was when I got hooked on F1 and Tamiya ....misty water-coloured-memories.........sing along, you know the words
  4. Looking great!!! Holy snap, carbon fiber Batman. Amazing work This hobby is hard enough to do well, let alone with a buggered up hand. Great job fighting through it and hope you heal up well Cheers, Scott
  5. I am digging the coppery-orange look as well..but I am partial to those tones
  6. Cool build I have always liked the TV commercial for the convertible version of this car
  7. Another cool project I have two kits in my stash of cars I have owned and will do them up one day
  8. Great finish off to your project Even better news that we get to see a classic Pocher being built soon Have a great summer, looking forward to the fall!!!
  9. Those are awesome, thanks so much Love those!!!
  10. Nice!! It looks like the exact same kit just re-boxed for Matchbox No worries for showing it. Fire up a pic when you get it done I have the Aston Martin English cousin of those Bugattis coming my way in the mail
  11. Bending aluminum tube into exhaust pipes ain't no easy task Great work
  12. Thanks Randy, I was going to send you pictures of all this, but that is like showing Michelangelo pictures I drew in kindergarten!!! Will keep plugging away at it; I failed miserably a couple weeks ago at this very part, so nice to see some time and brainstorming made it work
  13. I wear this hat when I solder as it helps the flux capacitor to flow.....is that weird????
  14. Practicing silver soldering continued....making a Bugatti front cowling and attached firewall More pinpoint flux application with syringe. Solder goes to heat and sticks where the flux has 'etched' the metal of it's oxide layers. So more precise flux should mean a cleaner joint and less clean up...in theory Metal base with magnets and a heavy bending tool to hold everything stable. That is important for me as I can't seem to hold parts, flame and add the solder at the same time...just not co-ordinated enough Here I could just fire in the torch from the front and watch for the solder to shine, puddle and flow Firewall soldered to the formed cowling, sanded and blended joint Took a couple tries to get the entire seam covered, but it did Still not an easy process, but much better when my parts fit together and are stable
  15. Looks Great!!! Very classy colour combinations Nicely done
  16. Good to see you got some bench time and progress made It is hard slicing out hobby time in life, but especially as the weather improves Keep plugging away when you can, it is always interesting to see this build Love the custom tire sanding jig...that is right up my MacGyver alley Cheers, Scott
  17. Nice clean build so far You are doing a great job!!!
  18. Rather the smart way out with the spare I really like the interior roof detail....is very convincing. You could have said you made that by bending all those little bits of wood and I would have believed it.
  19. Nice wheels, nice paint, super build so far!!!
  20. I have driven around in a convertible and enjoyed it immensely; how fun bombing about in one of these open cars on a spring morning, with no bugs mind you. Must just be a blast!!!
  21. This is such an awesome thread I am glad that image captured your fancy....it is how I pictured you working away in your model laboratory
  22. Haven't forgotten my Fujimi brethren Just trapped in a Star Wars build on another site The Ferrari is boxed away safe and sound for an upcoming move as well
  23. It was really cool to see the WIP thread, especially how long it took and how much effort and thought you put into this build Gives hope to all those parts in boxes on dark shelves whose inspirations have faded for one reason or another I have a few of those myself Really a great build top to bottom, enjoyed it immensely
  24. Beautiful, my favorite cars of all time You have done a superb job in recreating it at scale Jay Leno has a few interesting videos on Bugattis if you have not seen them
